Four of us went here with an out of town visitor. I had the salmon which was done very nicely and the Cabernet Sauvignon - delicious also. We were able to have a great get-together with a view of the city.
A week ago, I came here 2nd time after 10 years, it is very expensive but I liked the food, service, atmosphere, but this time, our waiter was kind a moody, forgot my drink, everything slow even it was not many people. At the end, he seems better and more show his smile. Food was OK, Salmon bowl was very good, but everything too expensive.
Came here for Christmas dinner with my mother and best friend. Everything was incredible, including service. The chefs behind d the counters, our server Mohammed, highly recommend!
We went to Nomi for the Christmas Buffet and it was a hit!
Christmas dinner. Great table by the window overlooking the Chicago Water Tower with Lake Michigan visible in the distance. Buffet with perfectly prepared, seasonally appropriate selections + sushi.
We have attended the Christmas Day buffet for at least 7 years. It is a very special experience that we all enjoy and look forward to. It has continued to creep up in price and is now $175 per person (plus beverages, tax and tip). I brought my two children and without any alcohol we were over $700 for lunch. While the food is nothing less than superb and the service is also great, this is just too much and left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Granted, the place was full, so I assume there is a demand in Chicago for a holiday meal at this price. Personally, if i wanted to spend $175 for a meal I would rather have a chef’s tasting menu at one of our city’s amazing fine restaurants such as Acadia, Goosefoot etc.
I don’t know if the pricing on normal days (not holidays) is quite as steep).
Brunch too expensive
Sticker shock-An $800.00 bill without any alcohol or extra drinks. And you pay to park. I'm not sure any meal would justify these prices.
This place is a scam. Sat down for their buffet. Online and in the rooms it states that the brunch buffet is $35. Not cheap, but the rooms are ~$300 a night so we sat down for a quick bite. No menus were given and our waiter came to us 4 times before we started to eat.
For the holidays their brunch buffet is $210 after tax. They don’t advertise this anywhere, nor do they have a menu. This is a bait and switch scam. I asked the manager where it stated that price and she just said it was told to us when the reservation was made. It obviously was not considering 30+ people were complaining in the lobby as this seems to happen all the time. I have filed a claim with the IL Attorney General. Avoid this place at all costs. The Peninsula has much better food. It’s no wonder NoMi lost its Michelin star 7 years ago. Only a few more months before it goes bankrupt
The view was amazing. I booked a reservation early so I had a good chance at getting a window seat, glad they could accommodate. Our waiter was friendly could have been a little more attentive, maybe provided some suggestions or told us more about the menu. Overall it was a good experience. I would like to try the brunch service next.
Delicious as always ♥️♥️
Would have appreciated a window table. We’ve been here more than a few times.
I expects white table cloth, more of a fine dining experience, not a cafeteria dated restaurant look. Very disappointed with the venue, especially this being Nomi and the Park Hyatt hotel. They definitely need to update the venue. Also I added to my reso and told the hostess at time of check in, that it is my husbands bday, but when we ordered desert they didn’t even add a HBD candle or a writing something to make it special for him.
Reservations were ultimately messed up.. I booked on open table and they had no record of me and or my guests and said "OH WELL" try us another night. ("I think not") The line of people before me with the same problem was laughable. The hostess had the appeal of a doorknob and ZERO customer service ability. The bar was 3 deep in people getting poor to no service.. bartender made sure the cute women were getting stellar service (LOL) so getting a seat was easy even though they were packed.. People left from getting no bar service, and having "no" reservations to ultimately total dissatisfaction.. The family next to me at the bar had a 7:00 PM reservation for their daughters birthday.. they got seated at 8:35 and were told their special requests could not be accommodated. They left in a huff. (All the way from IN) I owned a 4 star restaurant.. from the 3 hours we were their and based on my tab, I estimated NOMI lost approx. $7,000 to $10,000 and many future customers. I am a regular with business guests and come from WI.. the food is not consistent and the customer service was 2 star. I will take business clients elsewhere going forward. I would only recommend NOMI to a friend if they had an entire night to waste waiting for service and did not care about the drone like service of support staff.
Nomi has long been a local favorite; that is until our recent dinner experience. I'll start with the host stand. The two employees had no idea how to manage guests' expectations, the dining room, or to set a welcoming environment for a restaurant that bills itself a high end dining experience. One employee projected the disorganization onto the guests, complaining about how busy they were, and complaining about walk-ins. Another couple who waited a long time for their reservation wished us luck after they were called. We requested a window seat when we made the reservation and when we were called to be seated, were told one wasn't available. 5 minutes later another couple was seated at a window seat. Even if we both requested the window and they were hotel guests or had other privileges, the host could have managed our request with greater alacrity. Our waiter was very nice and started out attentive. He recommended a good wine and our entrees were delicious. The wine list is odd--jumping from $70+- a bottle to $150+-. Most better restaurants offer better price point options. Oddly, after convincing us to have dessert, the waiter disappeared and no dessert arrived. We asked for our check and got out as soon as we could. Very uneven service; clueless really. It's a shame because we celebrated many special events here. We won't be returning.
Once we got seated, the service was wonderful and the food was excellent. However, I had made the reservation for 7 PM on OpenTable almost one month in advance for a special birthday for my wife. When we arrived the restaurant was full and we were told that they had no idea how long we would have to wait to be seated. We waited almost 45 minutes. It was basically as if I didn't have a reservation! I don't know who was to blame for this "glitch", the software? the management of the restaurant? Did they callously fill the place at 6 PM thinking that they would get away with it? Did the software take too many reservations beyond the capacity of the place? I don't know but this was not fun.
It was wonderful! Our waiter was incredible ! Great service and great food
Where to even start about service from end to end that paid such great attention to detail yet was not in the slightest bit pretentious. And food that was interesting yet not that tortured kind interesting where it becomes inaccessible to even to the frequent fine diner.
The view was amazing, food was delicious and well presented and the staff was wonderful. Definitely going again.
The view is incomparable, and the food and service were terrific. Very diverse menu and always impeccable service. Highly recommend.
Food selections and quality in the restaurant were outstanding.
We waited in the bar area for our requested table and could not get service for a long period of time. In fact, we never were able to get the attention of the bartender to take our order. In comparison, service in the restaurant was outstanding.
Great😎👍👍people, setting, staff, for, ambience
not much variety of food. did not really like any of our food. i ordered the lobster and was not sayisfied with it at all. the texture and taste weeent good together. the appetizer was fried chicken on a bed of corn or polenta which did not taste good a all.
Typically, the restaurant is quiet. My wife and I have celebrated our anniversary there 3 of the past 4 years. This year, there was one gentleman at a nearby table who was loud and demonstrative. That is not typical and he was not so loud as to be overbearing. Ordinarily, I would predict the noise level to be quiet or moderate. I write those remarks to qualify my rating of "energetic" on noise level.
The view is memorable and the dining experience is always special. The kitchen and wait staff have always delivered a first-rate dining experience. The view takes the experience to another level. Christmas lights illuminating the water tower on a cold and foggy evening...what a treat!
This place is by far the best sushi in Chicago hands down! Consistent and amazing quality each and every time! Can’t recommend this place enough!
The food was excellent!
Meal was flawless, absolutely delicious. Service is formal yet friendly and so eager to accommodate. The excellence of this restaurant remains astonishingly consistent.
Many of the cooked dishes were overly salted. Sushi was mediocre. Too many other good sushi places. Will not be back anytime soon.
Service should have been better for the level of experience
Always a favorite between shopping. Craft cocktails, extensive wine list and amazing sushi with one of the best views of Michigan Ave.
We always have lunch at NoMI before we head out on Michigan Ave to do Holiday shopping. Everything was wonderful as usual. The bottle of champagne that we bought was not chilled as much as we like, however that is our fault for not touching the bottle prior to having it opened. After the first glass, the bottle was chilled to our liking.
love this place!
Fantastic! The food was great and the view was too!! I had the scallops, and my friend had the salmon. We are both still raving about our food.
The hostess was very nice upon arrival and seated us by the windows looking out over the Water Tower area. Our waiter provided water and menus for us. Another waiter brought around a cheese biscuit. When my boyfriend and I began to order for our meal, my boyfriend went first ordering an appetizer, a starter, and then a main entree. All of a sudden the waiter started to remove our menus and I stopped him from taking mine, responding that I would like to order. Since my boyfriend had ordered an appetizer, I proceeded to order a starter of BEET tartare (which I had pointed too) and the salmon with pearl pasta in truffle oil for entree. I was aware that there was an appetizer of BEEF tartare but I didn't want to order 2 appetizers. We were then provided bread with butter spread and extra forks and knives for a formal type silverware setting. I was aware of which fork went with which part of meal. We were brought our appetizer and then starters. I didn't realize that I had been brought the BEEF tartare because I was still eating a piece of bread when the waiter came up and asked if I had ordered the BEET tartare. I confirmed ordering BEET and he took away the plate and then brought the BEET tartare out. Before our entrees were placed on the table, the waiter proceeded to move my boyfriend silverware back to boyfriend's place setting. I found this to be odd for someone to touch silverware like that. The person that checked us into the hotel offered us a $25 off card to NoMI but we had forgotten to give this to the waiter when they ran our payment. We then asked if they could void and redo our check. When the waiter had completed this, the new check was presented to us but the new total was read aloud verbally and extremely loudly as to others dining could hear. We found this to be extremely rude and had never seen this be done before. This left us with a rather "bad" taste to the whole dining experience at NoMI.
Very expensive for the amount and quality of food. I would not recommend this for brunch.
We celebrated the holidays with a group of 12 friends and the restaurant took excellent care of us. The food was amazing and the waiter was very attentive. The noise level was good - we could have great conversation and actually hear each other! Some of our group favorites were the Salmon Beignets, the smoked fried chicken and the Tiger roll. The wine list is fantastic. And the views are wonderful.
A group of 6 friends got together to celebrate a birthday. Our table by the window was perfect! The waiter & food was outstanding!
A great place for brunch with a terrific view out over Michigan Avenue and Lake Michigan beyond. I had the baked eggs which had a great blend of flavors and my wife had them make her a custom breakfast of eggs, avocado and toast that they were happy to accommodate.
Server.. food... ambience.... view.
Fantastic experience overall
Scallops and salmon were way beyond expectation
Definitely recommend this restaurant to visitors as well as locals
Having previously lived in Japan we always enjoy the excellent and authentic sushi offering at NoMi. Priced fairly high but it's understandable for such high cost ingredients plus the need to bring them jet fresh from Tokyo. I much appreciate that I can enjoy traditional dishes alongside the tricked up rolls which are so popular these days. Also, when dining with a group, having the creative Western options on offer gives everyone a wide selection of food offerings which are always well executed, with friendly and knowledgeable service to match.
