Nobu Palo Alto
Very loud and lots of kids. Food is good but hard to have a conversation.
The food was amazing and we enjoyed our night. However, I was really disappointed with the service. We had to wait 25 mins to be seated even though I had a reservation. Then, the waiter forgot to bring 2 of the dishes that we ordered and they weren’t able to cook anything for us anymore since it was too late (which is not our fault since our reservation was at 9 and we were seated at 9:25 and the kitchen was closing).
We loved the food. It was unfortunate that the service was so fast. We went out for a relaxing romantic dinner, but it felt so rushed and stressful.
They need to advertise the fact that they charge for water...we came in and were asked whether we wanted sparkling or still water, with no warning that we’d be spending over $20 on WATER that we thought was free.
Classic Nobu, amazing food and experience, always the best!
The food and experience was great, but I'd definitely have to save a meal here for a special occasion. I'm not sure everything is worth the price we paid. I'd come back with preparation and budgeting.
We had a great evening celebrating my partner’s 30th birthday. The food was outstanding and our server was extremely knowledgeable. He recommend great dishes, we enjoyed everything we ordered and was very please with where we sat outside on a beautiful warm day. The manager checked on us and recommended the cod, which was also amazing, and the drinks were delicious. Will definitely come back with the family.
Our waitress, Alex, took the reins and selected all our food for us. We gave her a little direction in terms of what we generally liked. She absolutely delivered.
We sat at the bar and received excellent service. They are in the middle of a remodel but the atmosphere was still nice. Although the courses were small the prices were not. Overall the food was good not excellent.
Damn expensive and loud, but the food is tasty. Probably worth the price
I enjoyed the overall experience. The food was great, a little pricey for the portions served. It was a great place to celebrate my husbands birthday. I was surprised at the $5.00 per plate cutting fee.
Amazing as always!
Great special occasion place. Wish they would add a happy hour or specials that people can try the food without breaking the bank roll.
Delicious food and great service.
If you like Japanese food, Nobu is the place for your dinner.
Great service, great staff, weird restroom scenario where you don’t know if one is vacant other than checking the door handle. Food was amazing!
Amazing atmosphere! A little smaller than traditional Nobu restaurants, but did not disappoint. Will definitely be going back again soon!
food too small and the place is way too loud. the service was alright ... super disspointed!
Over priced. Good but not amazing food. Above average service but you can sense the up-selling which never feels good. The bill has additional item that was not ordered. Worth 1 visit but no compelling reason to return. This place should cost 1/2. I can think of 10 better places nearby to go at their price point for better food or better ambiance or better service, and many of these places would surpass Nobu on a combination of attributes.
Overpriced. Food was subpar considering the price. Waitress service was good. But hostess was not great.
We expect a better ambiance given the high price, but it was noisy and crowded. Our tastebuds were not delighted. Disappointing for special occasions. Will not go again.
We always love visiting Nobu wherever we are. This was our first time at this location. Food was great, only disappointment was the crispy tuna. We are used to the presentation at the NY and DC locations (lollipops). It’s just so much better that way. Why change something that is already perfect? But overall a great meal.
Experience was what you expect from a “fine dining” restaurant, but it was nice that the food was up to par with the experience! Probably the best $$$$ sushi I’ve ever had.
Service was a amazing and wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable.
How can you go wrong with Nobu? You can’t! We were able to enjoy some special drinks and appetizers during happy hour then switched over to dinner where our server helped customize a sharing menu for our very large party. Everything we tasted was out of this world. I can’t wait to return.
Ending cancer treatments
A little noisy and price point was a bit high.
There was a lot of waiters, but they seemed occupied elsewhere, so i didn't have my wine with my food. but they were very friendly and polite.
The most uniques and creative Japanese food I have ever had, elegant, flavorful and fresh.
Ariana was fantastic, as was all the staff we interacted with!
The wait time for the food was quite long. We didn't order much, initially, but ended up preordering three separate sushi rolls because of the delay.
Honestly, I wish we hadn't. The rolls were just "okay"'. Maybe that's because of our expectations were too high, but we felt that we could get decent rolls anywhere and the price was a but much for our experience.
Overall ambience was good, but it was still loud sitting outdoors. The networking within the bar was ongoing throughout the night, so the bar scene is definitely keeping the place busy.
What a huge disappointment. After frequent visits to other Nobu restaurants, we will not come back as the food sourcing, prep and presentation was so bad we were embarrassed for coming here.
Amazing service by John . He described the dishes in a very detail way and in a very descriptive way and the dishes came out the same way he described them. It was a bit loud for my taste as there were 4 people in a near by table who were loud and drunk . People kept moving away from them. The food was super and had lot of healthy vegi options. My star is all for John the service person assigned to out tAble .
Server Arianna was extremely helpful and gave us some of the best service I’ve ever had.
Overrated. Food not up to the same standard as other Nobu restaurants. The classic dish was ok as they were trained but they prepared their portions 30% smaller. Wait staff was not trained even though I asked her about their portion so that I can order appropriately for my party of 5. She told me I had ordered enough for all of us even if we are really hungry. She was way off as two of us were only 50% full. For $150+ per person meal, their service was poor. Our table was added because of the crowd that night and their wait staff consistently muscled their way to serve food to the other tables even though there was not enough space behind us and there was an alternate safer but longer path available. Very annoying and not acceptable for the class of they wanted to be.
I’ve been to several Nobu restaurants and it is one of my favorites. I left the Palo Alto location to be mediocre at best. The hamachi was great but I was left disappointed with the Waygu and the lobster tempura. I also found the $30 valet charge to be excessive and was troubled watching the attendant receiving parking assistance from the hostess. I will return to Nobu but not the Palo Alto location.
Fabulous food as always no matter where you eat at Nobu, the quality is always amazing!
Perfect evening for a girls' night out at Nobu Palo Alto started with well-crafted cocktails. The lychee + elderflower martini was refreshing with just enough kick.
Started the meal with Whitefish Tiradito 'Nobu Style - fresh and light and not overly seasoned. Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna was probably the highlight of the meal. The crispy rice adds a nice texture. Matsuhisa Tomato Salad was tasty - lots of umami. Prime Tenderloin of Beef – Teriyaki, Wasabi, Anticucho was flavorful without being overpowering. Also comes with grilled (?) asparagus and enoki mushrooms. The butterfish nigiri was one of the special of the day, but was not anything super special.
Service was friendly, consistent and reliable.
I’ve been to a few Nobu restaurants around the world and have always been impressed, and Nobu Palo Alto didn’t disappoint.
It is a little bit more relaxed than it’s London or DC cousins, and there were no suits and ties to be seen, but the food and the service were equally sublime. The Japanese / Peruvian combinations are a joy to the palette, and the service is exceptional.
Definitely one for a special occasion due to the cost, but worth every penny!
I have always heard that Nobu was an amazing place to eat. I wasn't too impressed with the food. Maybe my expectations were too high, but why shouldn't they be if the food is priced high? I probably won't come back because I personally didn't feel like the food was worth the price that I paid.
Fun experience, but not worth it
