An amazing evening and delicious food!
I came to Nobu for restaurant week on a date night, and I had a great experience. The ambiance was a dim lit restaurant, the food was amazing, some of the most flavorful food I have ever had. We had the whitefish in dry miso and the salmon (I think also in a miso sauce) as starters and although the salmon was good the whitefiish definitely was the favorite of the two. For the main meal we both chose the salmon which was also delicious but wasn't enough to fill us up so we chose to go with two sushi rolls of spicy tuna which was hands down the best sushi I have ever tasted. I highly recommend Nobu and will definitely be coming back at some point. note: nobu is pricey and their dishes appear to be small almost tapas style but definitely worth the price in my eyes.
The service was excellent, but the food was just okay, and at that price, you would expect better then okay.
Mommy , daughter date.
Came with a friend for winter restaurant week. All three of our meals from the restaurant week menu were great. We even got a few of the rolls which were enjoyable. The server was attentive and made it a nice meal.
By far one of the best sushi / Japanese restaurants in DC area. The food and service get better every time we go. Nobu knows how to run a great restaurant and experience.
It's great but expensive. You know that already so just enjoy it.
Perfect choice to share delicious Japanese dishes tapas style. Our serve Ed was helpful with menu selections and we felt extremely catered to. We were disappointed with the sushi selection and sake, but the Yellowtail Belly and the Seabass were tasty!
The uni and chi toro were both bad - old or poor quality or both. The beef was uninspired. Not what we expect from Nobu.
My wife has always wanted to go to Nobu so I took her for her birthday this year. I was nervous it wouldn’t live up to the hype but it was everything and more. I can’t wait to go back.
Nobu does not disappoint. The fish is fresh and creatively prepared. I am looking forward to another visit soon.
Excellent food and service as per usual. Went for my birthday and was more than pleased. 100% recommend
Good, but not amazing. Expected more on the inside as far as decor.
Food, as usual, was excellent. But the experience was very disappointing. We were three, and it was New Year’s Eve, a special occasion with an omakase offered at a fairly steep price and advertised as if the restaurant was expecting almost everybody to order it (“an a la carte menu with limited options will also be available “). Ordered white wine, which took a long time to come and then came at room temperature, with a really lame excuse about how wines are kept in the wine refrigerator (and it wouldn’t even apply, as this one for sure wasn’t). The omakase was 7 courses. We got the first pretty fast, but we waited for more than 30 minutes for the second. Then, the servers started bringing the following ones before we had all finished each course. As an apology, we got 3 mini-tacos just before dessert. Really, more food as an apology? Conclusion: quite disappointed, as I expected a lot more overall value for the money charged from a restaurant of such good quality as Nobu DC, where I had always been happy before.
Took My wife for her birthday and it’s my 4th time to go there in Dc branch, Shishito pepers wasn’t warm enough, quality of yellow tail sashimi wasn’t good like usual and time frame between foods were long so when we wanted to leave they just brought the last dish so my wife wasn’t happy for her birthday! Didn’t expect that from Nobu
The food was outstanding right beside the amazing service we had. Highly recommend trying this restaurant if you haven’t already.
Greatest! Spectacular! Fresh ingredients!
We had a wonderful dining experience at this upscale cosmopolitan restaurant. The service was absolutely impeccable before we even arrived, since the office staff expertly assisted me in coordinating a surprise pre-Christmas dinner for three generations of our family. Upon arrival, the service was just as good if not better. The fusion menu was creative and delicious as we have come to expect at a Matsuhisa restaurant. Try the miso cod, you will not be disappointed. The cocktails were also amazing, we might suggest a “grapefruit on the rocks.” Once again Nobu hits a home run with bases loaded!
Way over price.
Very Nice Japanese cuisin. I love the taco's n d oyster. Didn't get the changes for Trying the sushi. Very good variety of food. Very fresh seafood.
Nice Japanese whiskey variety too.... :)
Awesome!!!!! Can’t say enough about this place.
The wait staff was excellent....they guided us toward a tasting menu, which was perfect for my husband and I...and no we didn’t feel like we got over sold ...it was exactly what we needed.
Nobu was fantastic! Service and food is consistently great. I’m glad to have a Nobu in DC.
We could not get seated until 9 people from our 10 person party arrived. We were never provided menus for individual selection, only asked if we ate fish and beef then the staff proceeded serving family style. I was never asked if we wanted to be served family style or given a rate until they started serving food. Billing took 30-40 minutes making my guests late to relieve their sitters.
Very good. The noise level was a bit to much.
Overall it was pleasant, however, they forgot that we were there for a birthday and didn’t bring out a dessert or anything toward the end even though they called days prior and said they would. However, as always the food was immaculate and the service was prompt and mostly professional.
The food wasn’t even close to being worth the price.
The food was excellent, but the service fell short. I had a glass of sake which came in a wine glass that smelled. I asked for another glass, which the server provided but without any questions. My asking for another glass should have prompted him to ask what was wrong with the glass I had - chip? Smell? Something else. The rest of the time, the server was overzealous in clearing the table, removing my plate even while I still had chopsticks in hand. The place was not packed so not an issue of table turnover, but even if it was crowded, the server shouldn’t have made the diner feel so rushed. More training?
Hilary was awesome, she made our date night so special! Will be back again to visit next time we are in DC.
Black cod was unbelievable! Also tried the wagyu foi gras dumpling which were also out of this world! Will most definitely go back!
Very helpful waitress who guided us through options
Amazing birthday dinner, outstanding food and service as always. You just have to be aware it is very expensive.
Second time going to Nobu and was NOT disappointed. The staff is incredibly helpful - so definitely don't be shy and ask for their recommendations. Also, do yourself a favor and order the beef short ribs, I guarantee it will be the dish you'll want to come back for. The prices are fair for the quality of food, this place is definitely more for special occasions.
Simply top notch
We went for a birthday.
At these premium level prices the food execution was very sub par. All the hot dishes were over salted and one note. A huge waste of quality seafood ingredients.
Also the sushi was average quality and the rice prep was amateur (wrong temperature, too much vinegar and the ratio of rice to fish was too much rice).
Avoid this chain concept - it has strayed far from its origins.
We've been to Nobu a couple times in other cities and this one did not let us down either. From the sushi to the main meal (tempura crab and lobster), the food was outstanding. Our service was very good too. My only issue is the price for the food - not inexpensive. So if you are celebrating a special occasion - go to Nobu.
