Food was excellent, tasty, and high quality.
The service really disappointed. Very choppy, sporadic, and inconsistent. 20 minutes to get cocktails, then the first course was served without the wine paring. Had to ask for the paring after the course. Also had to ask for the bread basket - then it never returned again.
The ambience was nice, but the temperature inside the restaurant was incredibly hot.
The amount of wine served with each course was embarrassingly small. I could understand if the wine served was truly high end wine, but it was moderate at best.
The bill plus tip for two people was over $600.
If the bill were half of what it was I’d be giving very good ranks, but when you’re paying for excellent food and excellent service the establishment needs to provide both to command that tariff.
Dined in the outside patio area. Great service. Fantastic food. Everyone should try the stuffed gnocchi!
We celebrated our 10th anniversary here… it was perfect as it had a few tables outside and that’s what we were looking for. Tasting menu and paired wines were outstanding. While our table was quiet inside was energetic! Would definitely come back for a special occasion!
One of the best meals I have had in my life. Service was amazing, food was delicious and the ambience is beautiful!
Excellent service by very friendly people. Food was delicious. I grew up here and know the scene. This place is perfect for a romantic diner after a walk around Beacon Hill
Wonderful dinner, food was very good and the service was great!!! It was very warm in the dinning room, uncomfortably warm. Air conditioning would have made this a 5 star dinning experience! You would think for the price points the dinning room would be comfortable. Regardless we enjoyed the food, service, drinks and the experience very much!
Not bad. Not good. Rather hot, certainly, so I agree with other reviewers. Service is ok, and food is ok too.
I suggest Menton for a better, more modern fine-dining experience.
It was good, not exceptional as advertised. Therein lies the problem. We enjoyed the staff. Florida may tables, average food.
Went for a birthday dinner at 7:40Took 45 minutes for oysters. Another half hour for salad. Over an hour for entrees. Ridiculous. Entrees were then rushed and were low grade dog food. Just abysmal
Service and food was Outstanding! Well worth the time and expense.
Service was impeccable, wine paired perfectly with the meal and they gave us a super cute and quiet corner to enjoy our anniversary!
We recently celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary here and when we let our servers know, we were treated to courtesy champagne and mini desserts and afterdinner cordials presented on a platter with "Happy Anniversary" written on it. So nice!
Service was subpar compared to other visits. They completely forgot our entrees so we sat there for a long time. They did comp our cocktails which was nice but for such a fancy restaurant that should be Michelin level it was pretty unacceptable.
20th Anniversary, they treated us very well on our special Day!!
Good but unimaginative menu. Skip the dry duck with inexplicable vegetable accompaniments. Excellent vichyssoise and gnocchi. Outdoor seating is a good idea, poorly executed. A good place for the old people who work at or near the State House.
I think it is the best restaurant in the country!!
The food at No 9 back has returned to the caliber of its famed reputation and was absolutely outstanding - highlights included the foie gras and the fig dessert. The patio tables are small but the vista unparalleled.
Food excellent, but no A/C was rough.
Excellent food but no ac so uncomfortably warm
We chose the tasting menu with wine pairings. A very decadent meal. A couple of dishes were heavy handed with the salt, but overall each course was fresh and flavorful. Service was excellent. The dining room was sparsely furnished, and uncomfortably warm on a rainy August night.
Our server was AMAZING—-blanking on his name. FOOD AMAZING. Everything amazing.
We had a decent experience but not what we would expect at the price point, nor from a Barbara Lynch property. We have had several experiences at her other restaurants that have been exceptional and we were looking forward to a similar standard.
We did the six course tasting with wine pairing and there were several missed steps of service/timing issues. Several courses were underseasoned and the plating/creativity of the dishes were below what we would expect. Of the six courses, one was amazing, one was very good, three were good and one was poor.
Wine pairings were tasty and well matched to the courses.
Service was friendly, but there were issues with timing the wine and food pairings and very uneven in terms of if and how the food/wine was explained. Some courses were very well explained while others were just set in front of us.
We've been looking forward to this meal for years and it fell short of our (admittedly high) expectations, but at this level of dining I would really expect things to be above and beyond.
Lovely environment. Impeccable service. Delicious food. Highly recommend
The patio overlooking Boston Common is a wonderful place to enjoy a summer menu
First of all, kudos to the restaurant for calling me in the afternoon to inform me that the air conditioning was not working on a very hot day in Boston. The caller indicated that the previous night the temperature in the restaurant was about 80 degrees. She stated that the restaurant had fans blowing, but she offered to try to obtain a reservation for me at another restaurant in that restaurant "group." As I had already dined at Menton and desired to eat here because of its 4-star/4-diamond ratings, I decided to stick with my reservation, plus the restaurant was close to my hotel. Unfortunately, I did not feel any fans during dinner, and the temperature was very hot. As far as the meal itself, the foie gras appetizer was excellent. The chocolate soufflé for dessert was very good. The Colorado lamb dish was good, what little there was of it. The portion did not justify the price. The service was spotty; the gentleman who refilled the water glasses was very prompt, but I ran out of butter for the bread, and no one noticed. Even after I asked for more, it never came.
We recently went to No. 9 Park while vacationing in Boston. The staff was very attentive, the cocktails were perfect, the sommelier and his pairings were excellent, and the food was incredible. We did had the 5-course tasting with wine pairings, one scripted and one vegan. A lot of restaurants make you feel like a bit of a burden when needing vegan accommodations, but I didn’t get any sense of that from them whatsoever. The entire menu was exceptional.
Be sure to expect a leisurely pace and leave your night open! We made the mistake of making after-dinner plans, so we became a bit distracted and focused on the time, which detracted from our experience somewhat. However, the staff noticed and adjusted the pace for our last few courses. If you have limited time, the à la carte menu (which also looked amazing) is probably the safer bet. The dining room also ran a bit warm, but it was understandable due to it being an old building on a 100 degree August day.
I definitely recommend No. 9 Park for anyone looking for an excellent experience, especially for a special occasion.
Food was excellent, so was service. However, the cooling system was off and it was suffocating. I hope that’s not the norm and it was just for one day.
Issues with the HVAC system resulting in a not so comfortable dining experience.
Our head waiter/sommelier was personable and fine. The air conditioning did not work, which would have been fine for some period of time. Unfortunately, No. 9 stuck to its "three hours for a meal" style. I really wish we would have been consulted and asked if we wanted an uncomfortable three hours, or a "not great, but not terrible" two hour meal.
The ambience/heat kinda ruined the whole thing.
Final item, loved almost all of the food offerings, and wine was as usual well chosen. The SALMON should be removed from the menu, too plebian for No. 9, in my opinion. The $60 supplement for cavier on the salmon (which I expected to be cured) was very overpriced, and I usually do not care about price at all.
Food was unique and fantastic. The wait staff were attentive, polite, and extremely knowledgeable about the dishes being served and wine that was paired. A great night out in Boston.
Excellent food and wine (reasonably priced). The server was excellent, friendly and knowledgeable. Unfortunately due to kitchen labor shortages, it was a 3 hour dinner.
May be best meal in last 20 years! Worth the price.
It was pretty much all right. The food, the 2 servers. However, when I made the reservation, I chose an outdoor table, but when we arrived and saw that the outdoor tables were very small and with a very informal style, we asked the host if we could switch to a table inside. She said that the restaurant did have no tables available inside, only a tiny one just behind her in a dark corner, so we kept our outside table. But the restaurant was almost empty, no more than 25% of the tables were busy and stayed that way, even for the 3 hours our dinner lasted. I felt like the host didn’t give us an inside table for nothing. A dark point and poor host behavior. As you know, guests like to feel well treated, specially on an upscale restaurant.
One of the best meals my friend and I have had in a very long time. Looking forward to returning verry soon.
Prune gnocchi as outstanding as everyone says. A must have at this restaurant. Lamb was perfectly seasoned and duck was also very good.
An absolutely wonderful experience, the staff were engaging and attentive, the food was immaculate, and the ambience is warm and inviting.
Everything was exquisite from the beginning to the end. The staff was exceptional and the food was truly extraordinary. One would be hard pressed to find a better dining experience in New England.
Excelente food, excellent pairing. Michelin star quality.
