Ninfa's on Navigation
Located on Navigation Boulevard just minutes from the heart of downtown Houston, the Original Ninfa's was all started with Mama Ninfa Laurenzo's creative TexMex recipes. These led to the introduction of fajitas & Mexican cuisine to North America which gained immediate success.
If you're looking for a Houston Mexican restaurant, Ninfa's on Navigation is not only a local icon, having serviced politicians, celebrities & even visiting royalty, their Mexican food is unbeatable. Chef Alex Padilla uses only top quality ingredients, like Mama Ninfa herself did, & fresh Gulf of Mexico seafood like red snapper, jumbo shrimp & more.
Voted Best Margaritas, you can enjoy Ninfaritas on the outdoor deck, dine on the best Mexican dishes & fajitas around and truly enjoy the great restaurant experience.
or just about any event you can imagine...
Great for business dinners with attendees out of state!
My friends and I always go to the original Ninfa's before ball games at Minute Maid Park. It is a fun place for enjoying fantastically good food with good company. The service is fabulous and the food is ready in good time, and hot. A great way to start an enjoyable evening!
It was my first time, I would say I will have to come back. It was a very busy day, Astros game. They did have common Mexican drink like Horchata. We order the mix fajati, it did not come out cold but was not hot and deffently not sizzling
Food was good as per usual, service was slow and we gotten eat alive sitting outside.
This was my first visit to Ninfa's on Navigation. It was my birthday. I loved it!! Our group had a great time and the food was delicious. We will definitely be back!!
Bummer!! Have been going here since I was a kid. Food was terrible. Fajitas (both times...the waiter brought me new beef a second time) were are grizzle (fat). Service blew
Always busy b4 Astros game but service and food are good. This is not the best TexMex in Houston but certainly a fun place to visit because of it's Heritage.
Nothing beats the original Ninfa's for "authentic" texmex. My ONLY criticism is that the flour tortillas are very thin and lardy, instead of soft and fluffy (like Pappasito's). But when you add the free shuttle to and from downtown sporting events that saves on parking (GO ASTROS), this is the perfect place for a pregame meal!
We took a party of nine to Ninfa's for some family birthdays. It is only located .9 miles from Minute Maid Park so we could go from our 11 AM reservation to the afternoon game. Everyone enjoyed their various dishes, and service was friendly and prompt. The table we were seated at was the smallest acceptable for our large group. Since I reserved well in advance, I expected a roomier table. Our tip was large, but the total cost was far less than most of our family birthday meals. Parking was easy since we arrived at opening, but they also offer complimentary valet. The Original Ninfa's is worth the trip.
Food was good but nothing remarkable. The portions are huge and could easily be shared. Service very good. Only complaint is the noise level is high, but its a popular restaurant. Would go back and recommend.
First time at Ninfa’s and what a great restaurant! Great drinks and wonderful food. We will definitely be going back!
Service was pretty good but food was just mediocre. There are other Houston restaurants with better Mexican food. It’s not all it’s hyped up to be.
Waited for someone to come take our drink order for like 10-15 minutes. Finally someone else who was not our waiter took our drink order. Then we requested more chips and salt and they totally forgot. We had to request it again whenever someone eventually returned to our table.
I like to go to the Original Ninfa's on Navigation every chance I get. Do not confuse this site with the chain Ninfa's they are not the same in any way. Good food, good service and not the typical TexMex the chain stores offer. Store does get a bad rap because of location but that is not a issue. If you like Mexican Food prepared fresh and served in a classic setting created by Mama Ninfa this the place
Celebrating my daughter birthday!!! Excellent service and food!!
It was too hot inside. Food was just plain OK. GO to Pico’s instead.
Another good time at the original Ninfa's on Navigation. Good food and service.
Great place to eat before an Astro’s game!! Great food and drinks, then they shuttle you to the game and pick you up after the game and take you back to your car!! It was easy and a great time!
I'd been to Ninfa's on Navigation before, but I decided to check out their Houston Restaurant Weeks menu. What makes this place stand out from other Tex-Mex joints in Houston is the food. It is absolutely outstanding. It's the perfect blend of authentic Mexican cuisine joined with the traditional Tex-Mex people in Texas have come to expect. And I like that they are putting unique twists on some traditional Tex-Mex dishes. Like for the tres leches dessert, they use a marshmallow topping and then burn it so the top is crisp like a creme brule. It tasted great. My biggest problem with the restaurant and why I didn't give it a higher rating is the atmosphere. They put me in an area by the bar, and while it was inside, there was no A/C, not ideal at the peak of Houston summertime. So even though I was in the shade, it was sweltering. About half an hour in, it became unbearable, and I was just trying to finish up my meal quickly so that I could get back in my car. I don't know why they chose to do this. Maybe electricity's getting expensive. I don't know. All I know is this restaurant is a great place to dine, but maybe in the fall/winter when the weather's cooler.
I have been going to Ninfa’s for over 20 years. The food used to be wonderful and the staff were warm and very personable. My last experience was horrible. The beef fajitas were rubbery and had no flavor and the chicken was way too dry. The server was rude and most seemed to prefer chatting among themselves than working and it was too loud to even have a conversation. Worst birthday dinner ever!!
Server noticed that one in our party was having a birthday. She brought over complimentary sopapillas and a group who sang to her.
Astros vs Rangers and Anniversary trip. We made reservations and seated within 7 minutes of reservation time and they were very busy. The food was great, our waitress was awesome and they even took us to Minute Maid field for free! We will be back. The food was some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. I can eat TexMex and authentic Mexican food every day I will be back to try more.
We went there for dinner prior to an Astros game. Big mistake. Place was super busy. The line for their complementary shuttle was a mile long. A reservation 95 minutes prior to first pitch didn’t give us enough time to arrive for the first pitch. Overall, an average Mexican restaurant with good service.
Juanita our server was amazing. Food was awesome, we liked the octopus.
Service and people were great!! Food was just ok. Too many good Mexican food cafes around town!!
Really good food and drinks
I grew up going to the “original Ninfa’s” and sadly this is the original Ninfa’s in name only. It has developed a “get’em in and get’em our business model. No longer a dining experience. “How sad.”
Amazing food on a recent visit to Houston. We enjoyed it so much, we went twice!
Outstanding food. Was recommended to us and it did not disappoint. Our server - Mario was really good. Food was very tasty and how. Would certainly go there again. Even got us in a hour before our scheduled reservation without any hassle.
Wife and I came here on a Saturday before an Astros game. We had made a reservation beforehand, so even though it was super busy, we were quickly seated and served. Also, the free shuttle to Minute Maid Park is amazing. This is definitely a new pregame ritual.
I would only recommend going to this restaurant during any time that's not summer. We had a reservation and the area that we were seated may as well been outdoors considering how hot and uncomfortable we were. As much as I enjoyed the food, I will NEVER go back during the summer ever again.
We came to Ninfa's to ride the shuttle to the Astro's Game. The food was good, the service was good but we felt a little rushed to leave-our server even knew we were going to the game. He brought the bill without asking if we were ready for it. I had an empty cocktail glass and wanted another. I did ask for one and he brought it along with an updated bill. Just felt like he was ready to get a new table not take care of the one he had currently seated. We would return really only for the convenience of riding the shuttle. Our Shuttle Driver was AMAZING!! So friendly and helpful!
Ninfa's is always a win. It's perfect for a date, special occasion, or dinner with friends. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is fun and authentic.
Delicious as always. A Houston institution.
Service was great, drinks were cold, but food was just OK.
We have gone to the original Ninfa's since it opened years ago. We may not go back. The food was cold and greasy. It did not taste the same and service was slow. So disappointing to lose a favorite family place.
We both had the tacos al carbon and they were fantastic. Amazing flavor on the meat. The rest of the sides were mediocre but the meat was worth it. The tres leches cake was also delicious. I'd recommend this place for the fajita meat alone.
Restaurant rides on its reputation as the original, inventor of fajitas. Food was ok and prices are too high for quality and flavor. Many better Tex Mex places in Houston. Hard to justify $24 for 2 chicken fajita tacos al carbon when you are getting standard Tex Mex fare. Nothing special and I’m glad I tried it to see what the hype was all about but won’t return.
The food wasn't as good as I remember and the worst part were all the FLIES - we were sitting by the bar so I guess they get in when that back door opens, we were swatting them more than enjoying our meal. The quesadillas we ordered were TERRIBLE (he asked for only fajita meat and cheese), very disappointing.
Super yummy meal at Ninfa's. The tortillas were perfect, the salsas delicious, chicken fajitas really flavorful, and the beans were just the right consistency. The duck tacos (a special the night we were there) were the only disappointment - the duck was overcooked and dry. But other than that it was an excellent meal and we will definitely be back!
