Only the noise was the issue. I do a lot of business meetings over dinner and would not bring them there for that reason only.
I felt as though I missed out on something because I went based off the pictures of food they post and others experiences. Mine however was nothing like that for me or my guests. One of my guests said the hamburger was good but I wanted the “Culinary experience” I saw the chef was capable of. I may try once more for a lunch or something but not likely in the near future. My guests stated they weren’t impressed with the food either.
Excellent food and service. The menu gives great variety and is well priced.
Amazing experience that delivers on all fronts. This restaurant is fantastic and simply the best that Lakeland has to offer.
Excited to see their new location. I am sure it will exceed expectations.
looking forward toward the opening of your new location
There is no question that Nineteen61 is the best restaurant in Lakeland and would be an exceptional restaurant even in a major city with numerous fine dining restaurants to compete against. The food is outstanding and the service at a very high level. Once Nineteen61 opens at its new location on Munn Park in downtown Lakeland, I am sure the level of food and service will rise to an even higher level. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant without any hesitation or qualifications whatsoever. Whether for lunch, dinner or Sunday Brunch, this is the place to be.
Amazing as always. Excited for their new venue downtown!
I really enjoyed the food and services, but the noise was a bit loud due to a big group of party. So it was hard to speak to my father and hear him at the small table we were at.
Great Sunday Family dinner concept. Plenty of food and variety.
We really enjoyed the Sunday family dinner. It was s great way for the whole table to share the experience as well as the food. Our waiter was very attentive. Food was excellent. Will look forward to a future visit for sure.
All the accolates of other reviews were confirmed. Staff was friendly and efficient, eager and proud to explain the history of the restaurant and the incredible dishes. Some menu items were new to me and others were interesting nuances on traditional dishes--all expertly prepared. We ate outside, and the road noise was a bit distracting at times, but the garden atmosphere was delightful. We will return again and again to sample more of the intriguing menu.
Our server made several helpful suggestions on each course of the meal, and we thoroughly enjoyed each dish we ordered. My wife had the Ropa Vieja and I had the Wok Seared Lomo. Both were excellent, with incredibly tender meat, and exceeded our expectations (which is saying something because Nineteen61 had come highly recommended). The Brussel Sprouts appetizer was indescribably good! We were celebrating our anniversary and really appreciated that we didn't feel rushed as we ate. We look forward to visiting again soon!
This place is the best! We come back time and time again because we love it so much!
Fathers Day celebration.
We dined 6/15/2019 for my wife's birthday, joined by our son for a party of three.
We tried both sangrias and thought they were delicious if over-priced.
The appetizers were good, we had the calimari special (delicious) and the charcuterie plate for the apps. I think they could be a little more generous with the cheese at that price point, and a couple more slices of pane cubano (there were just 4 cracker-size pieces).
We all tried the shrimp special. We thought the shrimp was too salty; my wife refused to eat them, and she's normally the one to add salt to dishes before me or my son. The shrimp tasted fine after the bracing first bite. The underlying risotto was perfect, I could have just eaten that.
For dessert we had the Key Lime pie. I think they changed the recipe to a sweeter version; I prefer the remarkably less-sweet, more sour version, but it was still pretty good.
We're fans, we'll be back, thanks Chef Marcos! Congratulations and best wishes for the move to Main St.!
Outstanding! Best dining experience in town. Everything is prepared with such thought. The combinations are amazing.
Every time I visit Nineteen61 I realize how fortunate we are to have this restaurant in Lakeland. Everything is outstanding. The food, service, ambiance and attention to detail could not be better. This restaurant is the best in Lakeland and I would highly recommend it for either lunch or dinner. Easy to rate it highly in all categories.
What a wonderful evening with great food and wine... great food
As always excellent. One of our packages favorites!
Once again we had a lovely evening at nineteen61 and brought friends from Tampa to experience what we love about the restaurant. Service by Mark was terrific and the kitchen dod a great job with timing and presentation. The only issue I had was the height of the bench seat to the floor. It was too high and I felt like a little kid whos feet could not touch the floor. Looking very much forward to their new incarnation at the former Posto 9 location.
The food and service were wonderful as always. The size of current location is always a concern. Table seating is so close together it makes it challenging. The new location is very welcomed and we can’t wait to have our first meal in the larger space. Wait staff were wonderful and dealt with any situation that was given to them with professionalism and kindness.
Delicious food and excellent service. I recommend the chorizo and chickpea soup, the 1961 salad, the ropa vieja with manchego risotto that is the bomb, and the tres leches. The only item I was disappointed with was the charcuterie board. For the price I expected more.
Incredible food and service that gave us a fantastic experience at 1961. I’ve never experienced a server that was so engaging to make sure our experience was great. Highly recommend!
Nice ambiance and delicious food. Desserts were amazing! Service was professional and courteous. Will definitely go again.
I have eaten here twice now. Every meal is out of this world!
Fantastic food and service. I am
never disappointed every time I go. It’s my favorite restaurant in Lakeland.
The hostess knew it was close to our anniversary and they gave up complimentary champagne & a sweet card. Nineteen61 is consistently a great experience. Everything is always cooked to perfection and the service is excellent. LOVE the 1961 salad & house made red sangria. Thank you for always taking great care of us!
Our group of 9 diners had a really great lunch at this outstanding restaurant. Looking forward to the upcoming move to downtown Lakeland and the new beautiful quarters. This is the place for any dining option whether it be a group lunch, a quite dinner or a Sunday Brunch. Exceptional food and service !!!!
Wonderful as always.
Always the best. Parisian gnocchi, excellent, rouladen excellent, can’t go wrong with such a great place.
The taste of the food and the presentation is amazing. For me this is definitely a special occasion restaurant only based on price alone. Which certainly separates the average consumer from the more refined. Items were offered that are not listed on the menu which translates to not knowing how much you will be spending. If money is not a concern, you will absolutely enjoy the experience.
Great place for a first date, intimate, quiet and clever service with lots of patience.
Best Food in town!! Terrel waited on us and he is awesome as always and made some great recommendations. If you haven't been, what are you waiting for? Go now!
Had my wife’s bday meal this week at 1961 and it was of course amazing as usual. Paella was out of this world!
A great first time dining experience, Tami was our server and made the evening very special
We sat on the patio! Absolutely fabulous the weather was perfect and the food is always perfect!
Thank you Emerson, Blake, Samantha and everyone for a lovely dining experience. As always, you continue to surprise us with creative offerings.
A favorite spot to meet friends for lunch/good menu and service.
The staff was great. Outdoor seating was pleasant except for the nearby traffic noise. We ate there on a Sunday evening and the food price for what we got was excessive. It was a set $35/per person for “Family style” dining. Basically, we shared a cut of Prime Rib and a half a roast chicken, two sides, and a couple very small pieces of cheesecake.
