Too salty, ruined 2-3 out of 5 courses.
Daikon - way too much, no one likes daikon that much or at least not that way.
didn't like that they started with sparkling or still. they should offer tap as an option and make it clear what is $$ and what is not.
10/10 experience... courses were elegant and properly portioned and the wine pairing was AWESOME
I love this place. Amazing food in a delightfully small dinning room. We did the wine pairing and it was superb. We rushed off to theater so next time we will make Nightbird the destination to fully enjoy the experience.
Celebrating friendship
No words can describe how amazing this restaurant experience was from start to end!!!!! Terrance was our server and he was fantastic from start to finish. The food was beyond delicious and beautiful. The price is worth the experience! My husband and I are so glad we came here for date night!! Definitely worth trying out!
This was an utterly delightful experience!! So impressed and feel a Michelin star awaits this fantastic chef!!!
This is a fabulous dining experience that I’d highly recommend for anyone celebrating a special occasion. (Or just wanting a wonderful gastronomic experience in general.) We went for our anniversary and found the staff to be attentive, informative, and friendly. (Thanks Terrence.) At the end of the meal the owner/chef came out to personally thank us for eating with her that evening. (Unforgettable Kim.) The 5 course meal itself was delightful and delivered an experience that was really fun to share. The menu changes every 2-3 weeks (with the exception of the amazing quail egg/brown butter hollandaise first dish which is a menu staple). My wife and I have promised each other (and Nightbird) that we’ll be back before our next anniversary.
Excellent meal with creative cuisine and very attentive staff A truly memorable evening
Lovely experience. Give yourselves plenty of time!
Nightbird continues to excel at fine dining. The quality of the ingredients is superb and the presentation is remarkable. It is not inexpensive but you get what you pay for and it's a wonderful experience.
This was a wonderful and memorable meal. The chef designs a set menu that is extraordinary. Every course was perfect and so enjoyed. The staff are efficient and friendly. If you have a special evening or just want to relax and enjoy a superb meal, this is the place!
We had valentine’s night dinner and were flabbergasted by every moment—from service to presentation to the menu itself.
That was, hands-down, one of the absolute best experiences I’ve had in San Francisco.
My wife and I were celebrating our 5th anniversary and the only option for the dinner was the Valentine’s Day tasting menu (shockingly $225 per person). Don’t get me wrong
Incredible in every way. The food, drink and the best service. Made it a very special experience.
Loved everything about it. Great food, great service, delicious cocktails.
The tasting menu was exquisite. Best truffle I’ve had in town.
Well, the lights and power went out within 20 minutes of us being there, which left us with the generator backup flood lights for most of the dinner. Other than that, everything was great.
Amazing. New favorite restaurant
Wonderful meal, fantastic service, can't wait to come again
Fantastic food and excellent service. Loved the reflections after each course. Definitely worth the price for a special occasion.
Everything was amazing. Although expensive, it is a very reasonable price for the exceptional quality of food and service.
Everything about Nightbird was wonderful! A very special evening before the ballet.
Wonderful dinner
Delicious and interesting dishes, beautifully served. Gracious, friendly, professional service - reminded me of Paris. Very good wine list.
Excellent food, beautifully presented, great service. Very expensive.
Will definitely come back not only for the food but also because of the exceptional service. Will recommend to friends!
The food was not as spectacular as usual this was our 5th
Service was fabulous!
The food was amazing, service was on point. The server team made us laugh and the owner/chef came out to speak to us. Creative, delicious food. Thank you for a wonderful night.
We decided to celebrate our holidays with a special night out, instead of exchanging presents. The dinner at Nightbird was exactly what we hoped: wonderful inventive food, lovely ambiance, attentive service. There were some standout dishes: an opener of beet "salad" with a marrow vinaigrette, and a dessert reflection of beeswax icecream garnished with pollen salt. It was remarkable that this latter dish, seemingly so minimal, could be so subtle and multidimensional.
Amazing night from start to finish for our 20th year anniversary.
I had a call with the restaurant prior to our reservation about our dietary restrictions and that it was my partner’s birthday. We were coming in from out of town cross country that day so I was very happy that phone call took place. When we arrived, they seemed to not know about our dietary restrictions, but were able to accommodate.
I was facing the door to the kitchen and it seemed like the staff was running around like chickens with their heads cut-off. It was a very stressful environment for me. Luckily , my partner was facing the other way. Also-they brought over a non-vegetarian dish for me halfway through the meal when I was told them I was eating vegan. I said something and the server looked perplexed and just took it away without saying a word. Then another server brought over another dish with no acknowledgement of the mistake. I asked if this was the correct dish and she said this is your second dish (it was the third), so it seemed the staff was unorganized.
Additionally, I saw someone bring out a candle and dessert to another table that looked great and so I was excited since we discussed that in our prep call. However no candle and no dessert arrived-just the bill.
I will say the food was very, very tasty what was an attempt to salvage the birthday.
Luckily the next night we went to West of Pecos who treated like it was my partner’s birthday and we had a great time there.
Nightbird has the best service I’ve had in the Bay Area. The servers made us feel at ease and the dishes were excellent. We had a great experience.
I love that menu started from the root, and then sea next the Earth and the air. Very composed well thought and beautifully planned. Service was exceptional
Superb tasting menu, where all dishes were fantastic, yet very approachable as well as original.
The wine pairings fit perfectly with the food; definitely enhanced the whole experience.
Daniel, our primary serving person was knowledgeable and very helpful.
The atmosphere was conducive to pleasant table conversation.
End of meal was also enhanced by the the little "goodies" given to each diner, including a special cake sample for the next day.
Wonderful bar setup prior to table service.
We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the experience!
We had a wonderful time at Nightbird! The reflections were the highlight of the meal, and the myriad of small details done to perfection made the experience an absolutely outstanding one! I would highly recommend it.
What a delicious and innovative 5 course meal. The lobster was fantastic and the beef tender and seasoned well all of the courses were above average in skill taste innovation I would return every time they change their menu which occurs every 3-4 weeks according to our waitstaff
This restaurant is exceptional. The food preparation and mixing of exotic with pedestrian tastes was nothing short of exquisite.
The service was excellent too.
This is the place to eat.
This was not my first visit. I enjoy Nightbird whenever I I am in San Francisco. This menu was Happy Holidays. I enjoyed all the various courses-lobster, squab (excellent) and beef. The reflection courses are interesting to taste as they are a bit of the previous course and the next course. The wine pairings are lovely. They always seems to have new vintners which adds to the fun. The staff are knowledgeable and provide detail with each course. Jerry was my server this time and he made himself available, but was able to gauge when to approach and when to wait. The overall experience was wonderful. I return to Nightbird to enjoy the rotating menu and have the quail egg in the nest.
Plates were inconsistent. One beet plate looked alive and vibrant. The other looked liked a bow smashed by three other presents. Is this a problem, not really, if the Chef didn’t spend half the night speaking to one table. Was the squab supposed to be cold? Was there only supposed to be a single piece? Has the price of pigeon skyrocketed!? Was the beef supposed to be a tasteless fillet with a dust that tasted like dirt? Was the butternut squash meant to be served cold and al dente with the Keller poached lobster? For $700, I expect two star quality, attention to detail and service. It’s clear why Nightbird, without focus on the food rather than a table of friends, does not meet the bar.
This team consistently presents the best food in the City at one of the lowest price points for five star cuisine. The technique and forethought that goes into each course - the sourcing, the aging, the fermenting, the layers and depth of flavor combinations - shows how truly great this chef and her team are. Service was informed, pleasant and warm and not overbearing or intrusive. We had a truly memorable meal that we have been talking about for days now. If you’d like to wow some friends or colleagues, get in here. Nightbird is absolutely stunning.
