❤️❤️❤️ great avocado bruchetta!!! Loved the rigatoni with the egg for brunch so wonderful!
Delicious brunch at the sidewalk cafe. Pricy but delicious
Thought the food was light and flavorful. It was funny. We could not get just plain decaf coffee. It had to be special coffee and we had to pay for a new one every time.
Interesting food. Delicate sauces. Good value. Friendly staff.
Food was good, but not as special as expected in addition to being lukewarm when it arrived. Service was very slow but friendly.
Always a favorite in Chicago.
This restaurant was recommended to us by the Uber driver who advised it was rated one of the top restaurants in the nation. We were very disappointed in the food. The menu is different than typical Italian restaurants. We found our entree, the bolognese, to be pretty bland. The wine was very good, however. I wouldn't go back.
We dined at Nico Osteria to celebrate our wedding anniversary. What a wonderful place! We were greeted in such a welcoming manner, and they acknowledged our anniversary right away! Our seat was by a window. Our server, Jasmine, was terrific and an integral part of the reason we had such an amazing experience. She knew exactly the beer to recommend for my husband and the perfect choices for our food. Her suggestion for the appetizer of brussel sprout bruschetta was spot-on. For our entrees we chose the house-made rigatoni bolognese and the halibut. Both were so delicious!! And the desserts......oh my! We were surprised with two scrumptious desserts, complements of the restaurant. Additionally, all of the staff were very attentive throughout our dinner. I heartily recommend Nico Osteria!
Food service was extremely slow, but overall everything was delicious. Cocktails and wines were very good too.
Wonderful as always!
The minute you walked in, the hostess greeted you with a "thank you for coming."
The server was fabulous, he knew the wine and described the menu perfectly!
The food was absolutely delicious!
The whole experience was Awesome!
By the way, we went back for lunch the following day!
The food was fine, but nothing to be excited about. Given the price point, I had expected more. The serving sizes were relatively small and I found the food to be rather bland.
When the restaurant first opened, it was amazing. Every time I visit Chicago, I book a table as my family and friends loved it as well. When I visited last November (2017) I noticed a decline in quality and service but I considered it a "one off" and booked again. Unfortunately, this time the service was atrocious. We had to find our chilled bottle of wine and pour it ourselves, ask repeatedly for bread which arrived at the end and the server was nowhere to be seen. Thankfully, the other servers stepped in, at our request, to fill in for ours. The seating was beyond worn, the faux leather was peeling apart and looked (and felt-through clothing) terrible. It was embarassing to invite my friends to Osteria Nico given the overall experience.
Everything was very good except Lobster spaggetti, get rid of this dish.
Greg delivered his usual outstanding recommendations and service. Jinhee and the entire team are best in class
Almost impossible to articulate this exceptional experience. We are neighborhood regulars who visit weekly, and tonight we joined for my (milestone) birthday. The already insurpassable food and service was elevated beyond our wildest dreams. This is, and always will be, our absolute favorite restaurant in the city of Chicago. Bravo, and thank you, to the best in the business. We are lucky to know you.
Nico is our favorite Italian in the Gold Coast. They make the pasta in house and the olive focaccia is worth the trip alone. This time around, the service was slow to start and we had to call someone over after sitting by ourselves for a while, but afterward, the team stepped up and made the experience fantastic!
Had a terrible experience, even thought i had heard so much about it. Took almost two hours to get our food and our reservations were extended for another 30-60 minutes. Overall, not a good dining experience
Was not happy with my lobster with spaghetti , it was not very good. When I first tried it a year ago was very good. It was made with thick spaghetti . When I ordered it on Saturday I was not satisfied. It was served with a over cooked linguine. I asked waitress why the menu said it was spaghetti and I got linguine, she said she would asked chef. But never got back to me with answer.
Ate outside so noise was not a factor. Menu, service and food terrific. Loved the crudo, Branzino and pea/asparagus salad. Lingered during our dinner and never felt rushed.
The food is tasty. Brussels sprouts bruschetta is a must try. The Brussels sprouts were crispy. Hazelnut brings out the flavor. And the sweetness from the lemon honey was genius. Meatballs is also good. The sauce is a bit on the richer side compared to the Brussels sprouts bruschetta. Orecchiette is actually a bit spicy. The heat came from the tuna sausage. The orecchiette was cooked perfectly. Al dente. Dessert comes in a rather small portion.
The Brussels sprouts open-faced sandwich is EVERYTHING.
I love Nico Osteria. The staff is amazing , the location wonderful as is the food. It is everything I look for in a restaurant .
We sat outside and it was a beautiful feel. Waiter recommended the best dishes and we will definitely come back again!
The food was delicious
A lot of it was good. However, when I see Osteria, it usually means a little higher prices and not a lot of food. I think if we had stuck with the small plates it would have been better.
I made the mistake of going for the whole fish. While tasty enough it wasn't prepared how I like it. It was soft and saucy. I would have preferred more the of the right of the grill flavor and a very light butter sauce.
Service was attentive and the interior was quite nice. We sat at the chef's table/bar.
I liked that there were NO tv's where we sat.
Let's talk brunch. Nico is SO amazing for brunch, the menu is such a welcome change from the standard bacon + eggs but you still get your avocado toast fix in a more elevated way. I love how the giant floor to ceiling windows, perfect for people watching. And the croissants and the olive oil cake!? OMG I literally woke up thinking about them.
Enjoyed a very rainy day brunch. Food was excellent - get the Italian donuts.
Love the place it’s really a nice ambient and the food delicious
Food was fantastic! Very enjoyable experience!
Its deliciousness wrapped in delight smothered in Mediterranean culinary decadence.
Fantastic food and experience!
Food was excellent but our waitress was disengaged and impersonal
Delicious meal! Great bread. Great ambiance. Only complaint is that the waitstaff cleared plates from the table while others were still eating their meals. And the person pouring water was touching the water pitcher to everyone's glasses...not very sanitary. Otherwise though, the food was great. Portions weren't very large though.
The stuffed pappardelle was the best we have had anywhere. All the apps and entrees were delicious. The waitress was fun and knowledgeable & that didn’t change after we had to return an oxidized red.
Great atmosphere, would highly recommend.
The food was excellent but it was slow to come out from the kitchen. The waitress was attentive and did her best to get things moving along but she could not control the kitchen.
Great food. Excellent suggestions by the wait staff and wonderful
Ambiance. We sat on the counter and watched the bartenders make wondeful cocktails and saw into the kitchen realizing culinary greatness.
We enjoyed a nice evening outdoors with very good food and service. Restaurant is in a great and lively location.
Too expensive, portions small...barely any ragu on rigatoni....just not worth the $
