Service was very good. Food was superb. Thank you
The best food I've had in Chicago. Very well made, thought out and beautifully presented. Staff know what they're talking about and are deeply committed.
Nico never disappoints. The creativeness of the chefs, combined with the presentation, quality and taste of the food makes this one of Chicago’s special finds. We live nearby, so it’s become our go-to choice. Can’t miss. Don’t skip the dessert, as it’s wonderful.
Food was excellent!
Temperature, quality, taste!
Service just as good.
Once again, fantastic experience even at an odd time of day, early in the week. They walk the talk, start with the crudo and move on from there- just keeps getting better.
The lobster spaghetti was good but we didn’t like the bolognese spaghetti. Fair to say that the waiter didn’t include these dishes in the bill.
one of the best restaurants in Chicago. Great innovative Italian cuisine
Fabulous brunch, great atmosphere.
One of my favorite restaurants in the city. Came here early to hang out at their gorgeous bar. Water glasses showed up immediately after we sat down and drinks appeared shortly after. They were delicious and strong. So strong one of us got really drunk and started harassing the sommelier, who took it all in good stride and gave us some excellent wine suggestions. We ended up with a bottle that was a perfect pair for the dishes we ordered, which included sardines, gem salad, shrimp tortelloni, cacio e pepe and dover sole. The sardines, shrimp tortelloni & crab stuffed zucchini blossoms that came with the dover sole were standouts. Also got monte bianco & strawberry baba au rhum as desserts. Prices are decent for the food quality so I'll gladly return!
My husband and I went there for a night out without the baby~ We very much enjoyed sitting close to the bar to people watch! The food was delicious. Our favorite part was the brussel sprout bread....its a must get!
Amazing food, amazing service, cool ambiance. My parents were visiting and we went on Friday. We liked it so much, we cancelled our Saturday reservation and came back.
Personal favorites- Brussels sprout bruschetta, meatballs, and swordfish. The swordfish was SO good. Also the crispy potatoes, bolognese, lobster pasta, and pinzimonio (super fresh crudité with a great bagna cauda) were all noteworthy. Seriously so so good!
Always a great place to dine. Food and staff are outstanding.
Incredibly disappointed with service. Finished our appetizer and we’re halfway through our entree by the time our server returned to check on us for the first time. We then reminded him of the wine we ordered at the start of the meal before even deciding on apps. The restaurant was fairly empty, otherwise I would have been more understanding of our treatment and experience.
This was our second time here with the first having a split with some items good (rigatoni Bolognese and dessert) to others being boring (gem salad and crispy chicken). We went back mainly for the rigatoni and to try something else and this time nothing hit the mark. The rigatoni was flat unlike the first time when it had great flavor (also the portion size had shrunk). We tried the stuffed pappardelle which we found tasteless again the portion size was laughable with perhaps 10 ribbons of pasta. There are so many better options for Italian that I don't see us coming back.
Food was burnt —three of our 4 dishes, and the waiter was very surly. Too much garlic also.
I have been here several times in the past and had better food and service. Won’t return.
just a great all around evening,,,food,,,service...ambiance,,,all there and fun too
I was disappointed with the lobster spaghetti. It was dry and the pasta was under cooked.
Fabulous from start to end. Try the sardines...amazing. The scallop crudo, unbelievable. Freshest fig salad I’ve ever eaten. Lettuce like it was picked 15 minutes before, crisp and flavorful. Perfectly prepared Sea bass with a thin bread crust on one side that I cannot figure out how they made it...almost like a marriage of a thin bread crust and fish, seamlessly combined. Dessert of chocolate gelato delivered from the gods. When the macchiato that I ordered came out like a cappuccino, the waiter immediately noticed the error and re-made a perfect macchiato. He offered us the other drink gratis. We told him he should have it as he had a long night ahead of him! Super knowledgeable and funny guy. Overall, one of the best dining experiences my wife and I have had in Chicago.
The service and food was fine, but not what I expected following the reviews that were read.
Superb cuisine. While overall noisy, we asked for and were seated at a quiet area, which made the dinner so much more enjoyable. Look forward to returning for another delicious dinner.
The good was amazing and our service was excellent.
Amazing food. Would highly recommend.
The Brussels Sprouts salad is one of the best things I've ever tasted. Love the homemade olive cheese bread they serve to start!
Nico is on my Top Three. This was the one and only worst visit I have ever had. From restrooms, to seating, to service to wait time. Very disappointing.
The octopus was delicious, the pastas were cold and insipid. The service was average. Last time I was here everything was delicious. Apparently they changed the menu, reduced the portions and kept prices the same!
Food was amazing and the restaurant was very nice! Love the decor!
Food was outstanding and the service was even better!
Stuffed paparadelle alone is worth it!
Had a great meal: lobster pasta and the broccoli bread were wonderful.
I e been going here for years. But the portion size has reduced greatly and the orichiette had three pieces of tuna sausage. Disappointing as I used to live this dish and the meat has disappeared.
We have been to Nico many times and it's always been very good - especially the service. After being promptly seated for our 715 reservation - we waited and waited and waited and WAITED for water. Then we waited again for our server to show up, introduce herself and offer drinks. Thursday night was not the same....our server was condescending....we had to 'track' her down a few times for service (drink refills, order food....). We enjoyed our food.....the spaghetti de pepe, shrimp tortellini, the brussel sprout bruschetta were all fab!! Our entrees were ok. We would go back - this was probably a blip for them.
Very nice lunch, great and knowledgeable server
Excellent brunch. The restaurant itself is pretty, good people watching and extremely attentive wait staff. Highly recommend it.
Didnt realize I would be getting a side of attitude with this meal. There are tons of staff standing around but no one that was actually helpful or pleasant. Not sure what the point of making a reservation weeks in advance was if we were still told to wait (with tons of empty tables) and then sat at the worst table in the restaurant.
Thought maybe the food would at least be good but the cacio e pepe was dry and awful.
Sat at the bar overlooking appetizer preparation. Edifying, entertaining and quite enjoyable.
Delicious! Simple lunch clam pasta with house salad. Lovely!
Nico never disappoints and this time was no exception. The food and service were great and the ambiance is always fun an lively. Love this place!
I have ate here before and love the restaurant. This visit unfortunately did not meet previous visits and it was the first time I got sat in one of the center row of tables on the side with the chefs bar. The hostess had to instruct my date on how to walk around to the other side because the tables were so close together you couldn’t walk between them. The people sitting next to us were so close I couldn’t escape their conversation and felt like I could barely talk myself since tables on both sides of us were so close. I could literally reach over and eat something off their plate that’s how close they were. The entire setup reminded me of movies where they show a line of two person tables next to each other for speed dating. I can definitely say if I ever visit again and the hostess tries sitting me there again, I would walk right out and go to a different restaurant.
We’ve eaten here about six times and it seems to slip a bit every time. Some of the food was simply grotesque in its presentation. For example the brussle sprout bruschetta was a pile of brussel sprouts on two huge slabs of bread. Yuck! My prosciutto although tasty was a large plate of meat that was simply gross to look at and certainly not a single portion like the server suggested. Also two of us had luke warm tasteless Dover sole for our entrees. What was once a fine dining experience has turned into a mediocre midwestern gut bomb. This terrific location deserves way more. I’m very sorry to say if they don’t up their game soon they’ll be gone by next year.
Awful customer service from start to finish and the food was mediocre at best
