The food, the location, and my server were excellent as always. However, I think you can do a better job welcoming guests at the door.

Everything we had was delicious. The Chilean sea base was a large fillet, perfectly cooked with a yummy buerre blanc. Making loads of fluffy, smooth and moist mashed potatoes isn’t. I can only imagine they use a food mill or ricer. The Cioppino had pieces of fish, clams, mussels and shrimp served with a tasty boule of sourdough bread with a crunchy exterior and chewy inside. My daughter likes steak, but not huge portions. The bistro plate had just a perfect amount of filet, salad and soup. We each had a glass of wine and appreciated the options by the glass and prices. This was obviously the go to place for locals. It was nice to see how so many of the guests knew someone walking by or sitting nearby. A must try in Carlsbad!

Took the family for my wife birthday. Food was good as always, but service was terrible. The only dessert my wife wanted for her birthday was a glass of port. The kids, wanted the butter cake. The cake was delivered, but the port never showed. Server brought me the bill and port was on the bill and we had a brief discussion how you can’t charge me for something that never was delivered. As we were getting up and walking out, the bar runner shows up with the port. Had to tell bar runner, too late, those were cancelled and that was 30 minutes after they were ordered! One simple bar order, ruined what was a great birthday dinner. Not sure we will go back. Did not even get a ‘sorry’ from the server when we told him the port never showed and to remove those items from the bill.

The dinner was amazing, the service was excellent, and the restaurant was very clean and orderly. Even the bathroom smells amazing and was spotless. You can tell there is a high attention to detail. We always walk away impressed at Nick’s.

Always a great experience! Service is outstanding! We’ve never had a bad meal at this restaurant! Our favorites are the asparagus fries, Caesar salad, chicken piccata, and ribeye melt. You won’t leave disappointed.
