Its owners Masayuki Niikura and Ángel Carbajal, originally from Japan and Mexico respectively, opened the first Nicksan restaurant in Los Cabos in 1994, creating amazing congruencies between the flavors of both countries.
Some of the signature dishes that you can taste at our fabulous Residences Plaza location in Nuevo Vallarta are the spicy tuna cake, the salmon skin cone, the Shiromi Coriander and Maguro Lemon sushi rolls, the cucumber salad with wakame seaweed and crab, the gorgonzola shrimp and the serranito beef fillet.

Excelente lugar y comida! El servicio un poco lento
Have been dining here since it’s opening. But I will never return . The restaurant is managed terribly and after waiting for over an hour for the other half of our order we left . Food quantity is not worth the wait time . This has happened more the once. Bright spot is a new sushi restaurant is open in the area ver soon.

Very nice restaurant, but the service was very slow and the music (inside) is too loud. Hard to talk at our table.

Extraordinaria comida... cuando acudan por primera vez, pregunten a su mesero para que les dé recomendaciones y déjense guiar... adicional a esto, por favor también pregunten con cada platillo si el chef recomienda (o no) agregar soya: normalmente no será necesario agregarla...
La calidad de la comida y servicio es excelente. Los meseros y su capitán muy amables, siempre atentos a las necesidades. El precio de la comida, en relación a lo que dan es bueno. Todos los platillos que probamos deliciosos!

Una vergüenza y NAQUISIMO que cobren por el cebollín cuando pedimos una gran variedad de sushis, botellas de Sake, etc.... no son los 15 pesos que cobran por este “extra”, es el hecho de un restaurante de supuesta categoría tener esas políticas; cierren su lugar y conviértanlo en un McDonalds Asiático y cobran por adicionales.

Horrible experiencia... era nuestra primera vez visitando ese lugar nos dieron mesa adentro inmediatamente se sentía el ambiente húmedo caliente sofocante, los meseros tardaban muchísimo en responder al llamado y digo llamado porque ellos nunca se acercaron sólo al principio, la comida horrible las salsas malísimas pedimos tempura mixto y de camarón, toda la tarde noche tuve acidez y a cada momento recordaba el sabor del aceite

Dynamite scallop appetizer was fantastic. Did not see it reviewed previously but looked like something we would like. Serranito roll also our favorite. Lime maguro roll was good, but not necessarily not to be missed as per other reviews. We’re looking forward to returning! Martini’s were meh. Next time We would get wine. Nicksan is on the permanent rotation!
El lugar está padrísimo, y la comida deliciosa. El único problema que tuvimos que fue la ubicación registrada en Open Table no es la correcta y nos tomó un buen tiempo llegar a la ubicación real. La dirección sí es en la calle Cocoteros, pero no corresponde a la ubicación.

Service was horrible - our reservation was at 8:30, they didn’t seat us & take our order until 9:30. A table that arrived after us was given better customer service, they actually had a waiter who checked in on them frequently. We didn’t have a designated waiter, we had random employees take our orders and bring our food. We assume because we appear as locals and the other table were white, they prioritized their experience over ours.

Our group of five with one vegetarian and two with varying seafood allergies might have had difficulty with the menu, but with the server’s help, worked it out to have an enjoyable meal for all.
The food was exceptional. The service was great. The ambiance was perfect.

Another great meal at Nicksan. First of all our server OLIVER was fabulous. We ordered cocktails and handed him the menus back. We told him a few of our dislikes and asked him to bring us 5-6 dishes of his choice. He did not disappoint. My wife loves the Lychee Martini - truly she dreams of them prior to our trip to Mexico. I enjoy the refreshing Cucumber Martini. Normally I’m a Dirty Martini guy but there’s are so wonderfully refreshing as I stated, give it a try!!!
