Visitors to the Las Vegas Strip in the mood for authentic southern cuisine need look no further than the just-like-Grandma-used-to-make dishes of Executive Chef Mario Nichols, a transplant from the kitchen of this restaurant's North Carolina original location. Grandma is real, too: Nellie was the grandmother of Kevin Jonas, Sr., "Papa Jonas" to the fans of his famous sons, and the founder of Nellie's. The food - including freshmade biscuits, shrimp and grits, and chicken and dumplins, shares top billing with Nellie's hospitality and decor. The gorgeous venue, located within the District of MGM Grand, opposite the Grand Garden Arena and close to Wet Republic, Top Golf and the MGM convention center, is open 7 days for lunch and dinner. Come by to watch the game on our HUGE main screen, or to listen to some live music!

                                                                                                    My first time eating at Nellie’s and it was DELICIOUS!! I ordered the shrimp and grits meal with a side of drunken collard greens. I sat at the bar and my waiter/bartender, James, was amazing. Great conversation and service!! The grits were actually fried into like a cornbread cake. 10/10 RECOMMEND! I ended the dinner with dessert…peach cobbler w/ice cream. Very good!!! I will definitely be dining at Nellie’s again when I’m visiting Las Vegas. I’m excited to try their location in Belmont, NC as well.

                                                                                                    We had a wonderful time at Nellie’s Southern Kitchen. Excellent service, delicious entrees, & comfortable atmosphere. My friend and I had the meatloaf….absolutely amazing! My husband ordered the chicken dumplings and really enjoyed it. Will definitely come back in our next visit to Vegas.

                                                                                                    Several of the items come out cold and were sent back. The okra was literally half hot and fresh and half cold and chewy. When the entree arrived it was warm however; neither meal was hot. I’m not one to write bad review however; for $140 meal for 2 people I would expect better.

                                                                                                    Everyone from the time we arrived to the time we left 100% top notch service. The food was excellent. A little pricey for 6 people at $325 but we know it's about par these days for Vegas in a sit down restaurant. The food was fresh and hot and flavorful. Only complaint would be the music was so loud we couldn't even talk across the table. I truly appreciate that the hostess saw my notes regarding my son with Down Syndrome and social anxiety and sat us in very cozy corner where he enjoyed his meal. He also has celiacs disease so it is really nice to see so many Gluten Free items available on the menu that are Main Course meals not just sides like most restaurants. Nellie's definitely beats out Yardbirds in regards to fried chicken and southern comfort food. We really enjoyed it.

                                                                                                    We had a delicious meal and our server, Leo, was awesome. I had the barbecue pork platter and my wife had the chicken tenders. Everything was great. Our server told us that the restaurant is owned by the Jonas Brothers and named after their great grandmother, Nellie. He had a lot of nice things to say about the family and how they treat their employees. That was really nice to hear. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Vegas!

                                                                                                    Today was Mother’s Day and they had a special menu ribeye and lobster tail for $40. However at 6:00 PM they had already ran out of lobster tail. The host could have informed us before she sat us, but she didn’t. They were willing to substitute shrimp, however, I am allergic to shrimp so they gave me salmon instead. Disappointingly, the salmon was fishy and the ribeye steak was just subpar. My husband ordered the fried chicken which was dry and the macaroni and cheese was also super dry. The collard greens were under cooked although tasty. The service was superb but I’d have to say the food was underwhelming.

                                                                                                    Nellies Southern Kitchen was excellent. From the beginning to the end we felt welcomed and staff was friendly. Our waiter was Leonardo (Leo). He was attentive and responded to our inquiries promptly. The catfish was seasoned well. I couldn’t eat it all, but finished it for breakfast the next day cold. It was still crispy and delicious. I will stop by when I’m in Vegas next time.
