Nanas is a neighborhood restaurant in Durham, North Carolina. Helmed by Chefs Matt Kelly and Nate Garyantes, Nanas pays tribute to Nana’s, our beloved predecessor, while reimagining all of the details. Abundant, local ingredients shine on our seasonal menus, which feature dishes like Twice-Baked Grits Soufflé, Duck Ragout Tagliatelle, and the iconic Nana’s risotto alongside seasonal wood grilled whole fish, crispy lamb shoulder, and fresh-baked breads and desserts made daily in house. In our cozy bar you'll find finely executed classic cocktails and local beers, while the wine program offers upwards of 250+ labels of impeccably curated, farming-first wines. If your desired time for a reservation is not available our bar seats are open on a first come first serve basis. Call your nana, it's time to eat.

    Hey! We're hosting a celebration for the opening of our new patio at Nanas. We'll be pouring some of the best rosé on the planet, Clos Cibonne, including some unicorn bottles from our cellar. Matt will be making some fun passed apps and will have a few surprises up his sleeves (as he always does). This will be more casual than our usual wine dinners and it's bound to be pretty warm, so casual attire is more than appropriate. We hope you'll come have some fun with us!

    We are so excited to bring you our next wine dinner, featuring wines from one of our absolute favorite wineries! We will host our dear friend Greg Pfaender of Authentique Vin as he guides you through a lineup of truly electric wines from the Jura. The wines of Tissot are everything we look for: thoughtful, terroir driven, and unapologetically delicious! Matt will be in his element as he prepares a 5-course dinner full of traditional and not-so-traditional French dishes. Truly one for the books. We hope to see you there!

    We had a delicious meal at Nana's this weekend. Service was excellent, and the food was amazing. It had been several years since we were there, and we were delighted to discover that it's as good or better than ever!

    Superb on every level. The best focaccia of my life. The best olive oil to dip it in. Wonderful appetizers, pasta, entrees desserts. The kindest of servers, the finest crew all around. only superlatives to give.

    We thoroughly enjoyed our server. The dishes were creative and well thought out. Unfortunately, the salt level was overwhelming. My lamb dish was almost inedible. Burned my mouth on the first bite. The fact that salt is over added on everything these days including salads is very bad for the food industry. More and more people are going to push back on this. The more heath conscience groups know better.

    My girlfriend and I work in the industry so we don’t get to come out and enjoy a really nice dinner often cause our restaurants are open and closed the same days as the majority of the other good restaurants in the area. We were celebrating our anniversary and the food and service were amazing. We even restaurant hoped to a sister restaurant Mateo’s for a couple more small plates, dessert and espresso to end the night! Great experience at both places!

    Nana’s was excellent. Our servers were friendly and knowledgeable, and the drinks (the cold martini!) were perfect. And the food - delicious. We were all happy with what we ordered. Make sure you get the meatballs!

    We hadn't been to Nana's for probably over a decade, for various reasons. We were very pleased with our supper last night. The room where we ate was relatively quiet until the end of our meal when it began to get filled with other patrons and the music's volume rose. But the food was delicious and the menu was original, which we appreciated. The service was also fantastic. I think we'll be back to Nana's soon.

    Better than ever, Chef Matt delivers on the menu’s promises. The cocktail lounge has a sophisticated, clubby vibe. The dining room is cozy, lighter, and feels spacious because the tables are well-spaced. We love the beautiful red wine glasses! The food was so well-prepared—silken sauces, fresh ingredients, artful plating—we dined like royalty! Service was well-informed and helpful with menu choices when the choices were many. The prices were reasonable for this level of dining.
