   Looked forward to dining at Nami Kaze. The positive accolades are well deserved. The food was great, sort of a fusion between traditional Japanese and local dishes. The atmosphere was lively and noisy surprising for midweek brunch. All and all a good experience. Now looking forward to a dinner experience

   Chef Jason Peel takes familiar local flavors and dishes and ramps them up with technical cooking and top ingredients. Humble fish and chips become the crunchiest version ever, while the ahi within remains moist and not overcooked. Magic! Vegetables get equal top treatment as seafood and meat. My favorite dish so far may be the cauliflower! And Chef Peel has a real personal touch—he can be seen in the kitchen and checking in on diners, always with a winning smile and genuine interest in how you are finding the meal. It is impossible to leave without a smile on your face.

   Fun hip place. Friendly and helpful bartender. Food to me was good but not too memorable, but I will be back to try other dishes. Love the concept of sourcing locally but it can become challenging since Hawaii has a limited self sufficient mentality. Hopefully that will be changing more with restaurants like this one. Great cocktails, friendly staff.

   I booked a table for 2 to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday on 3/25. Unfortunately, I made a mistake booking seats at the bar area. When we arrived, I realized that big mistake as the host walks towards the bar area. I attempted to request and see if the other host (middle-age Asian man) can accommodate us in getting a different table. Unfortunately, the host showed no desire to try to accommodate my request, which left a very bad and negative impression to the level of service that they are willing to provide. I had mentioned to him that I made a mistake on the seat selection and I wanted to have a different table if possible to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. However, he was so fixated with my mistake that his attitude was “too bad”. What made this experience worst is that there’s an empty table for 2 that remained empty the entire time we were inside the restaurant. Food is very delicious and our server Lauren did a phenomenal job in making sure she attends to our needs without bombarding us with questions and too much information about the food. The process of ordering and paying my tab was very efficient. Our overall experience this visit is okay. I just wished we did not have that bad experience from that host at the beginning:

   Good ideas. Creative inspirations however shrimp Sandro had too many mixed flavors. The ginger fried chicken was nice a crispy, mild ginger flavor and grandmas potato salad was good but underwhelming. The beer batter fish was perfect and seasoned fries perfectly done. I couldn’t see spending $26 for 2 pieces of nigiri either. The service was attentive, friendly and quick. I wished the food matched the quality of the service. I feel like have to try again. Maybe I didn’t order the right things.

    To be honest the only thing that was annoying was the process of ordering everything online. For some of us older people it can be difficult. Since there are waiters why not have them do the job at hand. When I go to a restaurant what is important to me along with the food is the service. I don't want to work for my meal!

    Delicious Teishoku menu. Third time visiting since December 2022. Planning on more visits in the future. Excellent service! My colleague can only consume liquid due to diet restrictions, and the server informed us that hopefully they’ll have more soup option in the future or that we could even put a note in our reservation and the chef could possibly accommodate our request. ⭐️

    Food and service are always outstanding. The online ordering system here works well and allows for customization of specific details of the many dishes on the menu. I wish they were open on Mondays and Tuesdays, I guess these are prep days as well as chef sanity days.

    My sixth time at Nami Kaze and I’m always amazed with Chef Jason’s creativity! My guests enjoyed their meal and plan to return. The wait staff is very well trained and could answer questions easily.

    I’ve been here many times, but this night was special as I took my husband for his first time. He enjoyed every dish we ordered. The service was AMAZING and the prices are also reasonable. Definitely a must try place. I love their brunch menu and mimosas.

    The restaurant’s internet was down so the service was a bit odd and they couldn’t play music. You could tell our server felt uncomfortable having to take our order vs us ordering on our phones. Understandable that there was only so much they could do about it but for our first time dining, it really ruined the vibe. Food was good. I wish our hot food would’ve come out hotter than slightly warm. We ordered the ahi tartare, corn beignets, lobster chawanmushi, chef’s sashimi special, prawns, roasted musubi, and black cod. The lobster was the best part of the meal. My date enjoyed the ahi tartare. Corn beignets were hard to eat and didn’t seem very flavorful. Musubi was dry. Prawns were delicious and cooked well. Garlicky butter to dip bread in was also wonderful. Everything else was just okay. Perhaps brunch is better or everyone was a little thrown off by the lack of Internet but it was a bit disappointing we saved this meal for our last one before we had to head to the airport. Glad to have experienced it but would not come back.

    It was our absolute first time and we really enjoyed their foods to service. Our server "Eric" was very attentive and friendly, whenever we need him, feels like he watches us always so he comes right away which was amazing!

    This was our second time for brunch, everything was absolutely impeccable (again). We love love love the “Benedict”, and the fountain POG is amazing. If there’s no standard seating available, the bar or the sushi counter works just as well for small groups.

    Months later and after many visits. I gotta say - it’s there. They are consistently good and deliver on flavor and service every time. I’ve honestly ordered the same few items over and over - people’s choice and the marinated eggplant. At this visit they’ve built out a bar menu, still expanding it. But they’re no longer BYOB. They have beers, sake, and a handful of cocktails for you to enjoy. My only suggestion - an iced coffee or cold brew. It would be great to have for breakfast and even as a base for a delicious cocktail. Maybe the next time we’re here, they’ll have it. 😉

    As always the good was great! Scallop rolls and hamachi rolls were so good, fresh tasting! Eggplant and ulu were really good! First time eating ulu and it was definitely something I would order again. The black cod is my usual and it was perfectly delicious again. Our server was attentive and very sweet and helpful. Love eating here, will be back again.

    QR code concept doesn’t work well. We ordered appetizers to be delivered to the table first and wrote that in the “notes” section. However, we waited a LONG time and eventually the appetizers and entrees all came together and it was too much at once. Couldn’t enjoy properly and food not able to be eaten at right temperature and no staff member checked back in until at least 10-15 minutes later… It was a very disappointing and expensive meal. Not worth it.

    Food was amazing. Service was through phone order but it worked well. The tuna tartare and Kanpachi were my favorites followed by the Hamachi roll. The fried corn puffs were way better than expected and were better than anything else like it. Best miso soup I’ve ever had. I would recommend.

    Like the concept of placing your order online directly to the kitchen. Waiters spend more time with customers' requests and needs. However, worry about how those without access to ordering online would place orders. Food was creative takes on local asian dishes. On the whole food was a little too sweet, but flavors were interesting. Energetic, lively atmosphere. Not too noisy even though place was full at 10:15a.m.

    Absolutely incredible! I'm a huge foodie and I travel all over the world eating wonderful foods. I have to say that it's been a long time since I have seen some old favorites, made extremely fresh and delicious in a totally unique way! We got a salad an my husband (who is a carnivore) looked shocked after the first bite. After I took a serving, I saw him devour his and keep staring at the dish. Once I let him have the rest, all conversation was gone for 10 minutes. And at the end, he looked me soulfully in the eyes and asked, " Why can't all salad taste like that?" Can't wait to go back and try every bit of the menu
