We've been coming to Grand Junction for years but this was our first visit to MX Tapas Bar. We had margaritas, tacos and chimichanga and all were very good. The staff was friendly and attentive. The furniture, carpet & decor seems a bit tired but we were comfortable enough. We certainly would consider coming back next time we're in town.
We went to MX Tapas with a reservation on a Friday night. We were seated right away. The waiter took our drink order which took a while to get. In the meantime another waiter came to take our drink order as well. After getting our drinks we ordered the tapas plate, it took at least 30 minutes to get our food. Food was very good. A friend joined us and order two tacos, that took another 30 minutes. The waiter apologized but offered no explanation for the long waits.
Although the food was good, the service was very slow and it took a long time to get drink refills while we were dining. The restaurant wasn't even half full, so I don't know why the service was so slow.
Excellent food and margaritas! Nice atmosphere and ambiance - will definitely return!
Good concept but unfortunately like many western slope dining experiences, it was poorly executed. Tortillas that were light & fresh yet grossly oversized for the amount of meat served in them and wet over juicy droppings don’t make for great tapas.
The margs were okay. Not strong or overly flavorful.
Had a new waiter. Asked for the salad which he said was ample with salmon on the side, received a small salad with sushi grade salmon. Not quite what I expected. Will go back to the tacos next time which are always good.
Wonderful all around. Would have been more enjoyable without the kids but that is on us. All the tapas we tried were great.
Great atmosphere, food and drinks! This place is always high on our list!
Excellent food and margaritas! Always a favorite spot with us for date night or other special occasion!
Margaritas were great and the chicken mole was excellent - definitely going back!
Very Low quality and overpriced
The tapas were very good. Was disappointed in size of guacamole appetizer for $8. Way too small for table of 3. Server knowledgeable and efficient.
not at all what we were expecting. the mole was bland. the enchiladas tiny and paired with salad which surprised us. added on an app to get more food and the beef was overdone.
Everything about this place was fantastic! I can’t believe I haven’t been there sooner!
Robert our server, he needed to be our side dish, he was delicious!
A gem! The menu is wonderfully different from the typical Mexican fare. Sampling fusion food without having to buy an entrée was fun, filling and delicious. Margaritas are PERFECT!!
MX has an excellent selection of Tapas. WE really enjoyed the selections we make and will definitely go back. Looks like a great place for Happy Hour.
Boring food, ugly tables, lacks personality of a fun tapas restaurant.
Food outstanding. Menu slightly confusing but waitress explained beautifully. Food prep presentations and combination of ingredients very pleasing with unusual spice combinations that were very palate pleasing some might find dishes slightly overpriced st first but that vanished with the first bite. Best Guacsmolr we have ever had including while in Spain
The mole was so-so, but the watermelon jalapeno margarita was amazing
We were on vacation and wanted to find a fun and delicious restaurant for dinner. We found MX Tapas Bar Restaurante online and are so glad we did! We love tapas and well-made cocktails, and we found both! The menu also features specialty tacos and entrees. Our server, Robert, was energetic and fun to talk with. His service was spot-on. The owner, Francisco, visited our table and all of the others. He truly cares about the customer experience. We wish we had a restaurant like this near our home!
Excellent food and menu! Seating is well-organized and spacious such that no table is shoulder-to-shoulder with the next one. Service was well-paced and attentive.
Terrible fajitas that were salty and not hot. Tiny Chile rellenos that seemed like they came from a box or were reheated. Margaritas were green, mostly mix, maybe some tequila but couldn't taste it. Good salsa and a nice waitress though
10/10 would recommend - the food is amazing and very affordable, and the waitstaff is super friendly
Selection is amazing and each dish we have tried was nuanced with subtle flavors of Spain and Mexico.
Great place for excellent Mexican food. Margaritas are also exceptional.
Excellent food and cocktails.
Excellent margaritas and wine. Food was also great - outstanding specials. Wait staff coordinated service according to our schedule and desires.
Mx Tapas is a great restaurant. The Messy margaritas are off the charts!
Great food and great people, Francisco always takes good care of us.
This is our go to place for tapas and margaritas!
Great food and drinks! Service was always right there and the food was well prepared and presented.
Sort of a strange place but our waitress was excellent, the food was good, and watermelon jalapeño margarita was strong and tasty.
Dinner and cocktails were exceptional! Our server was always available but never intrusive. The entire evening was excellent - we'll be back soon!
Was skeptical from other people's opinions but turned out perfect.
Food was great. Drinks were amazing. Service was outstanding! Look forward to going back
We had great service. The food was mediocre at best and the place looked like it needed an update and good cleaning.
I had the Tapas: Tres Capas, Veggie-Fresco, and Mar y Tierra. The Veggie-Fresco was superb, LOVED the Mar y Tierra, and the Tres Capas was good, but my least favorite. I found the beef in the Tres Capas a little tough. Food was fresh, staff were very friendly. I'd go back if I'm ever in the area again. Very convenient to the downtown hotels.
The food was gross. Stomach aches for the entire family.
Tequila & wine bar...Great tapas with local touch. Halley was very knowledgeable about wines!
Great service, great recommendations, Rob our server was fantastic.
Food and service were both excellent, quiet ambiance on a rainy Thursday night. Might be different if weather had been better or on a weekend night. We ordered several tapas to share, but want to go back and try an entree. Tres leches cake was to die for!
