It was such a great first time experience for the Birthday girl. She was not only blown away by the food - but the AMAZING customer service 🙌🏼❤️
Service is spot on with servers knowing about their dishes, timing is just right with being served, checked on and drink refills. Food is delicious and presented in delightfull, unexpected ways. Dessert is to die for. And their hostess, Shari is a wonderful way to start one's dining experience. All in all a great place in all ways.
Excellent as always. The lunch specials are a great value and no bad choices.
Always impeccable service from the time we enter the restaurant. Hostess is so classy and even sang Happy Birthday to us at the table which made it extra special. Food is over the top as always, and the desserts are delicious, fresh and extremely delightful. Our all time favorite place for lunch.
Delicious, inventive, attention to detail. Food combinations carefully crafted. A bit expensive, but if you want Japanese food at a high level, I highly recommend it. All five of us were impressed.
The fish was delicious and dessert superb. Best of all was service by Jaime. He was delightful, efficient, engaging and knowledgeable. Will be dining there again.
The food was very good. Overall, a good place to have a nice dinner. The service was a little slow and they realized it; so, the removed the charges for our round of drinks at the beginning and also the desserts were complimentary. That redeemed the slow service because they were busy. That was great - thank you!
Our server, Dion, was excellent. The Boubon Dreamsicle was an honest pour n the $65 3 course menu was a value. The scallops n opah were delicious and the lililkoi brulee was to die for. I liked the convenient off street parking and since it was my wife's birthday, the greeting on her menu and our request for gluten-free dishes for her were graciously accommodated. We visit Oahu once a year from San Diego and appreciate fine dining and thoughtful service.
Waiter was very attentive and friendly. Food was delicious.
We had an excellent time. The four of us ordered the per-fixe lunches and all of us were please with our choices. Waitress was very friendly ——we had excellent service. Enjoyed our pre Motherʻs day lunch!
Food was incredible and service was excellent. We loved it.
First time back since the renovation. It was nice seeing Chef Wade and Chef Brandon. Outstanding food as always. Mochi crusted fish will always be my favorite.
The service and the food was outstanding. We sat at the bar and got better service than I’d ever expect. Worth the trip!
Awesome as usual...
A rather nondescript building from the outside. Once inside and seated the service is nonstop without being obtrusive. Gastronomical delight awaits with every order. Beautifully plated dishes worthy of food art. The crab cakes were fabulous as was everything else. A bit pricey, but go for it!
My husband and I had three-course dinner. I loved the seafood chowder and the onaga and lobster dish so much. My husband loved the paella and the dessert. We loved the creativeness of the menu and definitely would like to come back and try other dishes.
From the moment we entered the doors to the time we departed, the staff was great, smiling, attentive, personable and professional. What a great team they have put together. Five star shout out to our server, Eric (sociable, funny, organized and informative). And the food....outstanding from the crab cakes to the seafood chowder to the crab stuffed butter fish to the 12 ounce ribeye steak to the banana cream pie. Just delicious!!! We'll definitely be coming back. Thank you MW for the memorable evening!
Definitely one of Honolulu's top restaurants in a completely nonobvious location. Top quality in every way
This was our second time dining at the restaurant. The Pros: the food quality and presentation is excellent. The cons: the acoustics are poor--i.e. it is VERY noisy. The service was the startling aspect---the waiter(s) were non-attentive (we were non-alcoholic patrons--and we saw a lot of attention given to the patrons who ordered cocktails/wine). The waiters also had to constantly be 'summoned' for water/bread/etc. versus in a restaurant of this standing, the waiters should be more vigilant of their patrons' needs. The waiters also assumed the approach of "talk fast and softly" so we were constantly asking them to speak louder (also competing with the noise level). The owner/chef should train/coach the waiters to speak-up.
Always good - solid menu & beverage choices for any taste
All dishes prepared and served to perfection. A new favorite restaurant!
One of the best restaurants in Honolulu. The menu was very creative. The deserts exceptional.
3-stars since some dishes were exceptional while a few where just meh. Also the server (not our waiter) who delivered the food to the table would describe the food somewhat rushed and monotone based on rote memorization...would improve with some added personality and flair. Lastly, the wine pairing that accompanied the 5-course tasting menu seemed to be just smaller portions of the wines by the glass offerings on the drink menu. The bill for my meal and drinks was $150 without tax. I think you could do better on both the food and drink for that price.
I enjoyed the food. Very nicely presented. Will come back to try other dishes.
Their Administrative Professionals Day specials were perfect. We had a really nice time and will certainly return. I was told that your Happy Hours are also splendid.
Went there for my wife’s birthday. The pre fixe lunch menu was expanded on the day we went. Additional choices for dessert. The food was fantastic and the service by Ritchie couldn’t be beat!
Always a great experience!
It was a very good dining experience. My wife and I had an early dinner reservation on a Sunday for 5:15pm. We drove past the restaurant once - the signage isn’t the greatest - it’s two forks going in different directions to form the MW - but for your first time there it’s hard to find.
We chose the 5 course tasting dinner at $90 each and then added a clam dip appetizer.
My wife doesn’t like certain kinds of fish - especially not raw fish - so a couple of the appetizers she did not care for but overall I thought they were very good.
The scallops, kampachi and appetizers were very good - my braised short ribs were very good - my wife’s however - thinking back now - we really should have sent it back. She was only able to have one bite from the dish - the rest was literally all fat. It was too bad too because it was the dish she was most looking forward to trying. It was our own fault for not saying anything to our waiter, Tyler, because he was super accommodating and the service was fantastic - he would have replaced the dish had we said something to him.
The deserts were very good as well. They accommodated my wife with a dessert with less dairy in it - which was fantastic as well.
We were thinking of the different meals we’ve had in Honolulu. This is an excellent restaurant with fantastic service. It was probably the second best place we had been too while on vacation. We didn’t feel it was quite as good as Alan Wong’s restaurant but WM Restaurant is more like a 4.5 and Alan Wong’s was a 5, but it wasn’t far behind.
Great dining experience - we’d go back again!
Everything was delicious with many a la carte as well as tasting menu options. The tropical fruit brulee was amazing.
The food was too oily and greasy that I could not finish everything(beefandfoigras). The meal wasn't balanced for your palate.
A business lunch on a holiday was a concern, but, from the parking lot attendant "creating" a stall for me, the hostess being so gracious and bubbly and our server being genuinely aloha - it was successful! The food was fabulous - quesadilla with duck and pork hash, GENIUS! So ono-licious. My butterfish was a perfect size and a great recommendation by Richard, our server. Of course - gotta have SHAVE ICE for dessert!
The only downfall was our food took SO LONG to come out! Each course was slow and had to ask for a refill of iced tea. I think our server saw my body language when the family on the next table got served before us and came in after. He apologized and tried to be more attentive - the food can be the best...but if the service and/or server aren't in it to win it - it's a poor review. Luckily, my guest enjoyed the food, ambiance and experience which made for a successful business lunch.
Lovely restaurant. Very personal, great attention to detail, creative and tasty food. Highly recommended.
I would emphatically recommend this restaurant. The service was excellent and friendly. The food was fabulous. Every dish was delicious. We all four agreed it was one of the best meals we've ever had. And it was quiet enough that we could converse!
Plan to come hungry. Our group enjoyed the beet salad (like namasu), kampachi with somen, scallops, and several desserts.
It's hard to decide whether the food or the servers draw us here. The food is always superb but our server, Austin made it a special experience. He was always checking on us making sure we were enjoying the evening.
The entrees were done perfectly. The desert options were memorable.
Great happy hour selection and price!
Happy hour is 2-5pm
Great food experience! The butterfish is unbelievable as well as the crab pasta. Portions are generous. I only give it 4 stars as the ambience is too bright/no pictures on the wall, and not ideal for a romantic dinner. Great service, too.
