Incredibly delicious and authentic food. Friendly atmosphere. Very much recommend for a special night out.
We went here for my husband's birthday and we had an absolutely wonderful experience. The food was delicious and thoughtfully curated. They even managed to surprise him at the end of dinner with a dessert and a birthday card. Highly recommend this place!
The food was delicious and great service. It was an awesome experience!
Excellent and flavorful food
Its a pretty cozy restaurant. The dishes were all gourmet, very tasty, and nicely presented. However, the highest quality beef appetizer was stringy and very chewy. Additionally, we arrived at 5:30 at opening, but it took 1/2 hour to get our first appetizer. I loved their Saratoga sparkling water but I was a little chilly so I asked for their hot green tea in addition. I was told that the tea usually comes with desert, but the waitress would accommodate me. However, she forgot and had to be reminded. This restaurant is a little like Alice Water's and doesn't let you know what you will be eating until you get it. this would disappoint some people. My husband thought he might leave hungry given the size of the dishes, but I gave him my duck skin which was nice and crispy and he left satiated. Upon leaving we noticed one couple with a 6 pack of beer. Evidentally the restaurant does not yet have a liquor license, but if you bring your own they don't object. The price is quite high just for the food however. The two fo us left with a $250 bill. We eat at Chex Panisse for less. It was worth a one time check out...but for us, that's all.
Unusual very tasty fare - not your standard Indian cuisine. Interesting spices.
We had a very nice dinner. Come hungry, don't be in a rush. Excellent restaurant for enjoying a fine evening of good food and conversation.
A delightful place to share conversation as well as wonderful food, sourced for the highest quality and artfully prepared. The new 5-course prix fixe menu provides more food than we can consume, a delicious lunch the next day.
AMAZING, unique, complex flavors told through sumptuous 5 course prie fixe meal—tangy-tomato soup; chicken Sikh Kabab; sweet and sour garbanzos with spinach wafers; black cod masala; spicy lamb chops; and saffron and rose water rice pudding. You only find food like this in India!!!
Excellent food, wonderful ambience, nice touches (like a cute box for the check, beautiful mirror in the bathroom). Two downsides: very slow preparation (some of us got very hungry by the time the food arrived); and high prices ($14 for four prawns? They tasted great, but still...) First one could be mitigated by providing breads (at least poppadum). Note they don't yet have a liquor license; blood orange soda was very good but not a complete replacement for wine or beer.
Great meal, nice place.
Excellent, unique Indian restaurant. Fresh ingredients you can taste. It feels like you are in a home. We will be back for sure.
Wonderful but be prepared to wait while it cooks. Everything is prepared fresh when you order. The food is fabulous. Very clean upscale Indian dishes. Wonderful flavors. If you are very hungry it may be hard to wait. It can sometimes take 30 minutes or more to get your food, but it’s worth the wait.
this is a gem!!! VERY enjoyable, delicious food and lovely place.
A truly bespoke Indian dining experience in all aspects. Forget everything you know about Indian restaurants. Chef Diana and Chef Nick draw upon their cultural experiences sharing the regional influences and stories behind each dish. Everything was cooked perfectly and the spice profiles were complex and applied beautifully. Their daughters provided thoughtful, warm and attentive service from arrival to departure. The price was not enough for the uniqueness and incredible value for the experience. Thank you for the wonderful evening!
Excellent cuisine and great service. This was my third time at Munch India. Never disappointed with food or service. Only thing lacking is a liquor license. Otherwise perfect,
The food was excellent as usual, the service not rushed but attentive.
this place is wonderful. intmate size and a changing menu of regional indian dishes. i've never had a bad dish. service is excellent; staff are very nice.
Amazing food and experience!
Such delightful place, cozy very welcoming parents cook &daughter hosts& serves.
The food is exquisite; recognizably Indian, but unique. The dining space is small, intimate. the service was wonderful: attentive, informed, engaging. overall, a wonderful experience. we'll be back!
We keep going back and bringing new people. All good strictly fresh and cooked to order. Awesome.
Perfect in all senses! Food, service and ambience were outstanding.
one of the best indian restaurants around here
Best Indian food I’ve had in the Bay Area!
Munch India is a gem of an Indian restaurant. This was my third time for dinner. Every time we have been impressed with the quality of food and service. Will be recommending Munch India to all our friends. Look forward to our next dinner there.
Munch India is a prize. The chefs are experienced (they run a food truck by the same name) and gifted: the ingredients are top notch (even lobster), the spicing is complex, delicious and not too hot, and the reestaurant is small, nicely decorated, perfect for an intimate dinner with friends and actual conversation! Service is attentive.
Don't be put off by the need to make a reservation. You can make it up to 4 pm the same day. It's purpose is not restrictive, but to enable the chefs to buy and plan better, wasting less food.
Their main menu changes every 2 weeks to allow customers to acquaint themselves with a variety of dishes. The new prix fixe deal ($29 per person) gets you an appetizer, entree and dessert: enough for a satisfying meal. You can also order from the main menu
