We loved this place so much. Great food, chill fun staff and Delicious cocktails
Ever since it's sister restaurant (Town) closed, this has become our new Kaimuki go-to. We've tried dinner & brunch and loved everything we ate so far. Sizzling Sisig @ brunch is a must!
Great food. Make a reservation for an outside table.
Came for pupus and drinks and both were incredible. Great cocktail list and food menu.
We spotted Mud Hen Water when eating at Miro Kaimuke on the same street, and I am very glad we decided to try it! All dishes we tried were delicious, but the sausage & clams in coconut broth was my favorite! Such good flavor. Will definitely come back.
The sausage and clams was like a repair patch for the soul... so amazing!
It was the first time in 4 years we'd been to Mud Hen Water and we were impressed. I'd read many reviews of how great their dishes were, so we decided to try them again. The cuisine is VERY innovative and their family-style servings are a great idea. We tried their Chicken Long Rice Croquettes (not bad); the Szechuan Lotus Root (tasty but a bit too zesty for me); the Sausage & Clams (an excellent dish), Buttered 'Ulu (interesting but very filling) and the Miso-Butterscotch Rice Pudding (which I loved, but my husband not as much). Service was mainly very good except for the one time that my second drink was brought so late that I was getting started to eat dessert. We will definitely be back to try their other dishes that sounded interesting.
During the Covid era so please note this is not a review for the regular business. The hostess was excellent, running all over the place trying to either cover for staff that called out, or a purposely understaffed team due to management? Unknown however this did affect the overall experience as we even ordered a second round of cocktails during our main entree but never received them.
What we thought would be a 1-2 hour dinner turned into nearly three hours. Our group decided to go with their family style menu. While the food was yummy, service was extremely slow for the latter part of our dinner. I’m going to blame COVID and less staffing for the service issues. Hopefully things will be much better on a future visit.
Great food, great service
Wonderful food, thoughtful service, & a relaxing but well ordered dining experience. Very pleased!!
Great food great service
Make a reservation for the outdoor patio. Small plates to share. Fun original cocktails.
Every time I have been to Mud Hen Water I've come away a happy man. The food is delicious, the wait staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and they have spread out the tables for Covid as required. (I was a little surprised that they didn't take temperatures, but they did require contact tracing information.) We had a variety of things for the table, including some items I probably wouldn't have ordered myself. Not because I don't like them, but because I've never tried them. Example: fern shoot salad. (It was delicious) Everything was not only good, but creative and somewhat unusual. The smoked meat carbonara was unbelievable. I'd heartily recommend it to anyone, especially foodies.
The clams and the Breadshop bread were divine! We can’t wait to go back and sit under the stars.
We love dining at Mud Hen Water, great food, great hospitality!
Loved everything....especially the food! We have been coming for years! Glad you re-opened. The server could have been a little better, she forgot a couple things that I had to ask for however, the over all experience was great! I would recommend this place to many!
Great place for classic cocktails! Highly recommend 😋
Celebrated our 2 year anniversary however no one said anything upon arrival or during dinner
Hostess should check comments on the reservation as it was mentioned
Amazing food and our sever was fantastic
Excellent food, service, and atmosphere! Had family visiting from LA during Covid (November) and this restaurant absolutely blew everyone away! This will definitely be our new go-to now that Town is closing.
Our favorite restaurant in the city! Never disappoints...and the cocktails are super legit 👍🏻
I'm here from out of town on vacation and wanted to try out some local cuisine. It was good not great. The beat salad was fantastic and my daughter liked the carbonara The food was a little salty specifically the croquettes and the clams. The service was great. Cocktails were good. I'd go back but not rush back.
Awesome as always! Great brunch. Sisig pork and pancakes hit the spot.
Such a gorgeous restaurant!
The family set dinner for 4 people was absolutely delicious, with a range of unique Hawaiian dishes and flavors. Highly recommend!
The pancakes and biscuits in gravy were underwhelming and the server forgot our order of doughnuts.
A table for four in the outside seating area was perfect for feeling safe and cozy with each other. We ordered the family style dinner and delicious drinks. The 7-course meal strikes some as having small portions and the food was so delicious that you wanted more — especially more clams, more chicken, more ulu. But after dessert everyone was full (and able to walk).
The akule was subbed out of the meal because it was not available, which was disappointing but in its place I was introduced to the lotus root dish which was delicious. We loved all the local and fresh ingredients used so everything was worth it and staff were so nice
Awesome good with local ingredients
Best feelings and food to celebrate the Biden/Harris victory
Good food, good service, tapas style menu - great value. Very good, just not exceptional.
All the food was fantastic. We had sausage and clams, beet poke (amazing), bacon carbonara, and Japanese rice balls which had the best sauce.
The prices were fair for the portion size, and they were all very focused on great customer service.
I was skeptical about the menu, it’s an unusual paring and choice. I didn’t know what to order and had to go with the waitress suggestions. Overall I was impressed with the taste and originality of the menu. I look forward to returning.
We loved it
Decent, but not memorable in any regard. Might return to give it another chance.
Our server was awesome and very hospitable. Food was great, ambience was fun.
Friends from out of town
Great service and great food. Safe distancing and sanitation throughout the restaurant.
Paige treated us so well - she even remembered us from the last time we visited the restaurant a few months ago. Thank you!
Amazing! Always love going to Mud Hen Water, whether it be for brunch or dinner.
