The menu is much smaller than in 2019, our last visit. But favorites (preserved akule w crackers), beet poke and especially the poncho clams with lemongrass sausage, were just as remembered. One big improvement: coordination between kitchen and servers. Enjoyed ourselves very much on our anniversary. Thanks for the champagne! Mahalo all around
Everything was incredibly delicious and unique. Highly recommend the family style tasting menu for $35/pp. The service was outstanding as well
We had our anniversary dinner here last year, enjoyed it and returned. Food was awesome and inspired (who thinks to make Molokai smoked venison laulau with a poi vinaigrette?). The buttered ulu was amazing, and the kalo hummus was delicious.
The keawe brownie black sesame gelato with mac nut brittle dessert? Oy…amazing.
See you next year!
Staff kind and professional. Food was wildly disappointing.
Delicious unique and delightful Hawaiian fusion cuisine.
Such a cute place! The smoked meat carbonara was seriously one of the most delicious meals I’ve had.
Amazing service and unique menu with various local and ethnic options. Superb!
MHW team. May we move in. Mahalo for veggie, low fat options too.
Ronda Paige Bailey all rock
food was delicious and amazing mix of ingredients that worked to be palate pleasing
The food was excellent and so innovative! Service was generally good though not consistent. The two servers who introduced themselves to us when we were seated didn't serve us but did stop by a time or two to see how we were doing. Not a real problem but a little confusing.
That was our third visit to this place . The food was SO fresh and yummy . The beet poke and the Aku crudo were amazing . Great service by Kalani at the bar . This is a must when you visit Honolulu
It’s an experience
Had a great time. Food was great and terrific social distancing
Everything is great. I mean....to die for, seriously. I would come back again and again!! Such a neighborhood gem. Do come early, though. It's difficult to find a parking spot even though we had 5:30 reservation.
Pré fixe is always amazing. Beautiful take on local Hawaiian traditional flare. Outside seating is always great option.
Service was exceptional and will always return again.
The atmosphere is so nice, and all the food was creative and delicious! Will go back here for brunch any time :)
Pancakes were thin and bangin'! Donuts were rediculous! I got the vegetable congee and I loved it. Great brunch item and wanted to try something out of the ordinary. Also had the tequila bloody Mary and that wasn't heavy at all and was super refreshing. My friends had the corn beef hash and the tofu biscuits and gravy dish with bock choy. I tried them both and they both were great. Tofu dish was more on the richer/heavier side but very flavorful. Overall awesome experience.
The food was outstanding, really delicious. We ordered family style so got to taste a variety of dishes...each one better than the last. The service was great, the waitstaff was attentive and friendly. The only issue with noise was that as the night went on, loud cars and motorcycles would go up and down the street. Not anything Mud Water Hen can do as it is an amazing open air restaurant. I will definitely return!
Excellent everything! Unique menu with farm fresh deliciousness. Can’t wait to go back.
Hummus dip with sliced cucumber and seasoned naan were excellent. Buttered ulu was an interesting new dish for us. Nice casual corner spot. Limited small space parking available so plan ahead.
This was a great place to experience unique cuisine in a great part of Oahu.
Fabulous all around, start to finish!
The food at mud hen water is special and well prepared. We enjoyed our food. The sigsig was one of the best we have had and the beet poke has no comparison; what an awesome idea for a vegetarian option! My only warning: if going there for brunch - do not make plans right after (just in case). We arrived 10 mins early to our 10am reservation but were seated and greeted right away. We were glad we did not have any plans afterwards because unfortunately the kitchen was behind. The first bite of food arrived around 1.15 hrs after ordering. I wish they would have come out with some biscuits and jam or a small bite to ease the wait. That said, once the food was in front of us we understood the hype!
The best dining experience of our trip by far. We loved it so much we came back for brunch! Excellent service and outstanding cocktails.
We’ve been brunch here most Sundays for a while but yesterday had to be our least favorite visit to Mud Hen Water. We were first in as usual followed by others and the place was near filled. We did not get served for 35 minutes and orders came out separately. We watched other tables who arrived at the same time a wait an hour for food to be served.
I have never received a response back to any review I write so not even sure these are being read.
Hope someone in management is reading these. You’ve got a great thing going and perhaps need more servers and kitchen help. Food is usually ‘spot on’ but the pasta (bucatini) over cooked and toast kinda burnt. Mud Hen Water is still a gem!
Food could use a bit more seasoning but other than that it was great
My husband and I overall enjoyed our dinner here. The only reason for the 3/5 stars is that our main entree took a very long time to come out. I our server did offer a free dessert to make up for the delayed main course. It's a lovely local spot with great food. I would recommend!
Great food! One of our favorite meals ion our Hawaiian vaca!
Food is amazing, drinks are great, and menu concept is clever. Chef Ed Kenny and Dave Caldeiro are brilliant in their use of local ingredients to bring guests a memorable dining experience.
I got to be honest, I did not have alot of faith in this place just by the name the location and how easy the availability was. Man how wrong was I, it was a perfect little corner spot with a funky vibe and a spacious indoor/outdoor seating, sevice was great! And the food was the best I has eaten in a very long time. I'm a sucker for the clams and sausage but the long rice croquet and smoked meat cabonara... 👍 you have to get the desserts too, soo good. We left with satisfied tummies a smile and 3 $50 gift cards for friends to share this experience aswel.
Great food that exceeded our expectations. Farm to table healthy offerings. Pacific Rim fusion cuisine. Fun and creative dishes/ staff are friendly and helpful. Recommend FAMILY STYLE as it allows for you to sample the best items on the menu including multiple desserts.
Loved this place. The food was local Hawaiian with creative twists and oh so fresh local ingredients. Service was perfect.
Mother’s Day. Exceptional service and food.
Super gracious staff, creative menu and drinks...loved our time here!!
Nice place, good food. we had the fish sandwich, the clams and the smoked meat pasta. the clams and the sauce was the hit. Weather was nice, indoor and outdoor seating area, indoor area looked quite nice.
Food was excellent, friendly staff. Highly recommend getting desert.
They are working off of a limited menu due to COVID which was disappointing because we felt great about the place until we realized that only 1 food option we were planning on trying was actually on the menu. Overall a great place and ambience was perfect for a date night!
The food was just alright. Nothing special. This place was recommended by a friend, and while it wasn’t bad, it wasn’t remarkable in any way.
Awesome tapas style menu, incredible flavors and super fresh ingredients. Creative plates that are really spectacular. Thank you MHW🙏
All the food items ordered were innovative, so not something you can get elsewhere, and delicious. We ordered a bunch of items to share family style and my only critique is I wish more dishes came out together instead of one by one. Our server, Kalani, was attentive and very helpful with recommendations. The noise level can get loud at times if you are looking for a quiet meal. We were never rushed out despite the two hour reservation limit.
