There is a $20/guest min for table service
Mr. Tipple’s heralds back to a 1950s NYC basement. Cozy. Dark. Boozy. The intimate setting features local jazz artists up close and personal. It’s a joint where you come as you are, hear great music, tap your toes, and sip a properly chilled cocktail.
My name is Mr. Tipple. Just a simple and laughable bloke hailing from London. I run a recording studio. My friends joke that you’ll oft find me spinning cocktails, not reeling tape. After a few too many, I usually just sit back and enjoy the music, having forgotten to hit record. Regardless, the band is always jiving, the whiskey is always cold, and we’re having a smashing good time.

What a fun jazz ambiance. We had a great time with amazing jazz. Food and cocktails were fantastic.
A unique experience. Dark, candlelight space with small tables. Nick Rossi band stellar musicians perform jazz classics circa 1950s. Like stepping into a movie set. Didn't have the food. Will definitely return.
Love the music, dancing, food and drinks here! Perfect date night spot and appreciate how they keep music alive and well here in the city!
This was my first time at this venue. Really fun intimate venue to hear live music in. I sat at the bar and had a decent view of the stage. I didn’t have any food but I had a glass of wine. Very limited options. Chardonnay or Cabernet. The bar staff were harried. When I asked for my bill I received a bill for $30 including two entrance fees along with a glass of wine. I had prepaid my entrance and was alone. When I pointed out the error the bartender was surly. Another bartender made it right and gave me my wine for free. But he too was short with me. I still loved the atmosphere of the place.
Loved it! Must come again.
I look bed we had to show proof of vaccination. The staff were very nice and helpful. The music was fantastic and the food and drinks were lovely.
I absolutely loved my experience here! The cocktail selection is diverse. The dumplings from Fat Cat are tasty. Live jazz every Thursday-Sunday evening.
Really nice ambience, very cool place. Drinks were delicious.
Happy to enjoy live music again and encourage others to get out and appreciate jazz clubs and musicians. Very comfortable space arrangement.
I have had mostly good experiences at Mr. tipple’s‘s when I visited there by the noise level there can make it a little bit difficult to fully enjoy the music. Also, since I’m usually by myself I sit at the bar which can be challenging because if I get out to go away from my C, someone will sometimes take my seat and I usually have to deal with that. Overall, it’s a fine establishment and I enjoy going to hear live music there and will be back soon.
Most serious music rooms, before performance, kindly ask their audience to respect the performers and keep their voices down, I hope you do this in the future, because your room is intimate, and the constant loud talking really took away from the music enjoyment. Tiffany Austin was wonderful and deserved more respect, as did the people who came to hear the music.
This was the first time my friends and I visited Mr. Tipple's. We had an incredible time! From the delightful performances to the charm of the venue, we enjoyed every minute of it. It was a great intro to jazz in the city and we made a few new friends. We definitely plan on returning for the music and great drinks. Thank you to all the staff for making our experience memorable. We didn't have to wait long for anything and everyone accommodated our requests. Thank you!
I went with my partner and two friends from out of town, the only place I wanted to take them was Mr. Tipple’s.
I am so happy I found this place on Open Table! I've been dying to go to a jazz club here in the city and this was just the spot. Great cocktails, yummy dumplings, all in a cool, dimly lit, vibey bar. Everyone gets a good view of the stage. Such a fun experience.
God. This place is amazing.
Great ambience and cocktails. Gets a little noisy if your are in the back and are there for the music. Highly recommend overall. Great staff, small plates are delicious and drinks are fantastic.
Great band Cosmo Alley Cats! Food was good. Had vegetable dumplings! Would definitely go again!
great music, tasty dim sum, delicious cocktails. what's not to like!
Great food, a big improvement over 2019 ambience is great and so was the music , going to make it a weekly spot to go
The music was awesome and the customer service was Top Notch!! The French Press coffee was such a suprise and so tasty.
Mr. Tipple's Recording Studio is a gem. We paid extra for reserved seats upfront and had dinner, which was surprisingly good. Really nice dim sum, easy enough to eat with chopsticks while drinking and enjoying the music. The act was new, good but not yet really solid. No worries. At a time when a concert ticket is easily $100, this is such a deal. Relax and enjoy it.
From the moment we were greeted warmly by the hostess to the i credible service, food snd great music we were happy.
Mr. Tipple’s is the best. Thank you!!
Classic jazz club. Great to see it opening after Covid 19
Everything was enjoyed. Felt overwhelmed by constant asks of multiple servers whether we wanted more drinks… very well overall.
Amazing service, food and music. A must go back!!!
Awesome as usual.
Great bands, great service, perfect ambience.
Fantastic music, but the food is meh. The dim sum doesn’t have much flavor and is very expensive.
10/10 a neighborhood gem. The dumplings were great, the drinks well-made. Good vibes. Great date spot.
I had a wonderful time and will return soon!
Amazing service and music
Nice setting but it was so noisy we could hardly hear the music. Music was just okay from what we heard. Overpriced for what you get.
Great band. Quality cocktails. Delicious dim sum.
We had the best seats in the house , right in front of the band. Paid extra for it , and it was totally worth it. Loved the atmosphere, the food , the cocktails, overall very satisfied with the experience, would definitely recommend.
Long story short - automatic 20% gratuity, poor customer service, mediocre food, and decent cocktails.
We came here to celebrate my mom’s birthday, and were really dissatisfied with our experience. We were a party of 4, and got a table with an obstructed view (column in the way). When we tried to speak with management about it, we felt dismissed and disrespected. He did not validate our concerns, and instead became defensive and questioned our experience in restaurant operations. What an assumption because we all have our experience.
The manager told us the tables were already reserved/decided ahead of time, but when I reserved on open table it only gave the option to choose VIP or standard (non VIP). I made a reservation for a non-VIP table. There wasn’t an option to specifically choose a non-VIP table. When we arrived, there were other tables of 4 open in the non-VIP section, but we we were stuck at this table when we didn’t even have the option to choose our table. Oh! And a lady in front us didn’t have a reservation and got a better table than us.
To make it fair at least give us the option to pick our table. It could be like when you reserve seats for a concert or event and they show you where you are going to sit in the venue. Also why put a table of 4 with that obstructed view? They could make it a table of 2 because at least 2 people can see from that spot..
And 20% automatic gratuity is ridiculous! The server, who wasn’t exactly the friendliest, didn’t seem welcoming or enthusiastic about talking up the menu. She told us we couldn’t make an adjustment to what was on the menu because the cocktails were pre made. Felt a little discouraged from getting a cocktail, but you can get a cocktail that’s not on the menu so there’s that.
Anyway I wish we had a better experience with customer service because it could have been nice. It’s a cute place, and the jazz music was lovely. But I’m so disappointed, and do not plan to return.
Amazing jazz, great cocktails and very good dimsum
Mostly good, but had a 715 reservation and they ran out of half of the menu before 8pm. Very off
Great music, atmosphere, and heavenly cocktails' list! Perfect for date nights.
We came for the amazing live jazz (Javier Santiago Quartet), and the space is intimate and the acoustics outstanding. The tables are close to the stage, and we could hear every nuance of the music clearly without being loud. We didn’t come for the food, but they have a delicious offering of dim sum format. The cocktails are as well-crafted as any in the City. Next time we will bring a big appetite!
Loved it, was right next to the stage. Great hip hop/jazz music that night. The food was actually good. I don't expect much from a club menu but it actually was good and so were the cocktails. They were true craft cocktails not basic bar well drinks.
