Mr. Tipple’s heralds back to a 1950s NYC basement. Cozy. Dark. Boozy. The intimate setting features local jazz artists up close and personal. It’s a joint where you come as you are, hear great music, tap your toes, and sip a properly chilled cocktail.

My name is Mr. Tipple. Just a simple and laughable bloke hailing from London. I run a recording studio. My friends joke that you’ll oft find me spinning cocktails, not reeling tape. After a few too many, I usually just sit back and enjoy the music, having forgotten to hit record. Regardless, the band is always jiving, the whiskey is always cold, and we’re having a smashing good time.

I went with a friend, both first timers... We loved it!!! The atmosphere was great, music was as great as expected! Food was good and the service very appropriate! What an interesting fusión: jazz and dim sum! We will be back for sure!

If you’re looking for an experience this is your spot. Came in on a Sunday with a 6pm reservation. Sat right in front of the stage and enjoyed an amazing Latin jazz trio. The food and drinks were wonderful, but it was the whole vibe that will get me to come back!

Mr. Tipples is one of our favorite, favorite places in SF. It is always consistently a delight. We had a wonderfully relaxing evening to kick off our 30th anniversary weekend. The cocktails were excellent, the food delicious, the music fabulous, and the atmosphere wonderful. It's also really wonderful how the staff coordinates so there is no awkward "let me close out my bar tab" before moving to the table. And it was nice to be recognized as a repeat customer. Love this place!

Loved our two experiences here - great atmosphere, wonderful musicians and a very cool feel. Buy preferred seating to see and hear the musicians close up or enjoy the Opium Bar in the back for a snuggly feel. Dim sum is excellent and Asian inspired mains are done with care. (Could use some dipping sauces on the side, but overall good food as well as a lovely night out.) Will be back soon! Thank you.

A fantastic room and listening experience. Exceptional small plates. Attentive staff. This is fast becoming one of our preferred places in the city. The jazz spirit lives on at Mr. Tipple’s!
