We were greeted by a wonderful hostess. Our waiter was very friendly and accommodating. Loved that there was vegan options. Chilean sea bass was out of this world. Can’t wait to come back .
An awesome experience upon entrance to departure. Wonderful Sunday Brunch with the family!!!
Fantastic place for Dinner, Drinks and Dancing. 2nd Floor Bartenders are killin it. Great Job guys! We will definitely be back!
Josh our waiter was awesome! Great customer service skills, friendly, efficient, and a sweetheart. Prices were pretty steep. Our table was located in the Jazz Room and it was hard to communicate due to the noise level. The Peri Peri chicken was delicious and the chicken melted off the bone. The sides were average. My friend enjoyed her pasta dish. We headed up to listen to Family Style. I have seen them play before. Quality cover band, but the dance floor is tiny and wasn’t fun trying to dance.
Very pleasantly surprised by the food and atmosphere of the restaurant. We can to see a band (The Babys) and decided to roll the dice in dinner. Very nice menu, very good wine selection, excellent service and a great atmosphere. We would come here again in a heartbeat.
bartender on roof Adrian was great, good drinks, nice demeanor. Got table in reasonable amount of time. But did not get menus when seated, waited nearly half hour before snagging busboy to find a waiter. waiter was fine once she arrived. food good as always. they need someone experienced and interested in clients managing the roof activity. The person present was only identifying tables but not helping the workflow. Also they need to manage the volume of people waiting downstairs, not upstairs. the great view is totally detracted from when someone is standing over your table talking on their cell phone and leaning on our chair. I seriously doubt the fire marshal would approve of people blocking the top of the stairs too. but if you have a lot of patience the view is killer, bartender and busboys work hard and waiters are competent once they know you are there.
I really enjoyed my boerewors and my wife’s peri peri chicken was spot on. As an appetizer I had the beef samosas which were made the way they are in Southern Africa which is a rarity to find here in the USA and they too were very good.
Service was slow and confused. Did not know who was our server.
Food was good but service was tooo slow. We waited for a napkin, a menu, drinks. Nice enough place but outside servers were not good.
We were seated on the rooftop. Excellent view. The food was good and the wait staff was attentive, though busy.
I will be back.
I was taking a dear friend out to dinner to celebrate her. I'd made a reservation for two earlier that week. When we arrived, the hostess explained that the re were two tables we could choose from: one was upstairs on the roof and the other was on the patio. We asked her which she would recommend and she said the roof since the view was fantastic. So we went upstairs (she didn't usher us but we didn't really think anything of it at the time) and when we got to the top, a very young lady - maybe in her 20's - told us in that really snooty "I'm a blonde so the world owes me everything" way that there is a 25-30 minute wait for a table. We explained that the hostess downstairs told us we could choose a table in either place and so we chose roof under her recommendation. The roof hostess responded by saying, "I don't care what they said downstairs, you have to wait 25 - 30 minutes if you want to eat up here!" I wish I could say that I was shocked being on the receiving end of such unfortunate lack of customer service (is it really that hard for restaurant management teams to provide basic customer service skills to young folks these days?). We again tried to explain to this unskilled individual that we had made a reservation and was told that there were two tables we could choose from, rooftop being one of them. She kept doing what she is aopparently really good at doing - being rude to customers - and before I could ask her if she was related to the Trump family, a man who we only assumed was in management somehow overhead us say we want to be seated in the patio then and he ushered us downstairs to the patio area which worked out just fine. The meal was the highlight - the server was fine. But a first impression is like still waters - it runs deep - and for that reason, I will NEVER patronize Mozambique again, nor would I recommend it. Managers need to realize that with so very many choices in metropolitan cities, consumers have the upper hand.
Fun evening and great dining in the Durban Room - best vibe!
Hockey team parent dinner
We always look forward to our meal here. The penne pasta was delicious as usual; however my peri peri chicken dark meat was dry and over cooked but it was too late to send it back so I didn’t report it. Next time I will be sure to get it to my liking.
👍🏼 was very good.
Dined at the roof top and it was a wonderful day. Food is always good and the service was top of the line. I will be back
So-so reception, attentive, friendly and knowledgeable staff, very interesting menu showing the owners south african roots and high quality ingredients make for an above-average dining experience. Five days a week there‘s live music, so noise level is pretty high.
Rooftop terrace nice extra for sunset lovers.
The food was mediocre at best and not worth the price it came with. Soggy calimari for the app and beef curry with no flavor. The African mojito was delicious though. The ambiance was great with a beautiful sunset so if I went back it would be for the drinks. I would never eat there again.
My absolute favorite restaurant in Laguna and possibly on the planet. I recommend the Peri-Peri steak sandwich and chicken skewers with grilled pineapple!!!
enjoyed the food and service. the music was great and the vibe/mood was good
Slow service, loud atmosphere. Also, the fact that you have to walk through the live music/bar area to use the restrooms is not pleasant if you're there just for dinner.
The restaurant is nice, the service was good. It’s over priced in every way based on the quality of food. The food was very good but we paid $90 for 4 drinks, a Caesar salad and veggie pasta and tip.
Not a good value.
$14 for a martini is outrageous
I paid $6 for Bud light!!!
Great ambiance and better food. Really enjoyed the live music and fireplace. Overall great service and a lovely experience
We have eaten here many times and always found the food to be delicious. I always order the boerewors and last week we took some friends visiting from Florida. Based on my recommendation we went to Mozambique because my friend wanted the boerewors. We both ordered it. What came was not the usual boerewors that I have eaten there many times, but it was like the kitchen ran out of it and sent out to the local supermarket for breakfast sausage. I did not complain as we were guests of our friends, but after dinner my friend and I both agreed that the sausage they served was awful and definitely not boerewors which they have served there in the past. Very very disappointing.
Every thing was great except the menu was somewhat limited.
Great night for dinner on the roof top! Dinner was amazing and the service great!
I’ve been to Mozaambique on 3 other occasions and last night did not disappoint. I had my offspring with me and they enjoyed it as well! Great food, old fashioned sand Sarah our Waitress was on point!
VERY LOUD AND CHAOTIC. Even our server was stressed and the evening was far from relaxing. The food was delicious but pricy for not feeling like a relaxing evening was had.
Really enjoyed the experience. Great food, both the steak & lobster and peri-peri chicken entrees were excellent!
Neither online or over the phone it was not clarified that music/band is on the terrace and you need to pay extra. We came there for a better experience than just food...we wanted music, atmosphere...unfortunately I will not return. It was just another nice restaurant but nothing more. When you say online you have entertainment be specific so people know what they should expect.
Upon arrival we were shown upstairs to a table close to dish removals , so we moved ourselves three times , as others left as it was not full to capacity . Menu was good / samosas starter hopelessly overpriced , but rest was reasonable . Service was VERY slow, overbearing at times, but we were very patient . Had to ask more than one server to help us get our order and requests met . Food was delicious, wine list over priced compared to SCal’s finest . Strange as Rand dollar exchange is 14 to 1. If wines were better priced , we would definitely uncork here often . View ( at final
Table ) was unbeatable . Saw live music list and will perhaps return for many of those entertainers in future . I love the venue , location , food prep and menus . Pity it is too pricey for regular visits , and wine far too expensive .
There are 2 main parts of the restaurant, the main dining room, and the bar where musical acts perform. We experienced both. The dining room ambiance is wonderful - low lighting (but you can still see your food) and the noise level was okay. The food was outstanding -- the flavors were different, interesting, flavorful and absolutely delicious. The food presentation was wonderful.
The bar is small and was very crowded (that night was a popular musician, so it was packed literally wall to wall. The rest of this review is from the perspective of a person with mobility challenges. There is no handicapped section or seating. When we finished our dinner and went into the bar an hour before the performance, there was no seating available. I had to sit in my 4 wheel rollator, which is only comfortable for sitting for about 30 minutes. My husband had to stand the entire time, he was okay with it and there were many standing by the stage and throughout the bar area. The crowding was a problem for me and I'm glad there were no emergencies as it would've been difficult to get out. The lack of adequate and comfortable seating took away from the experience of the event for me. So, I hope the restaurant will look into making their establishment more user friendly for those of us with disabilities.
Caught it during Laguna Beach restaurant week, so we had the filet mignon and lobster for $40 along with salad and a dessert. At that price a bargain! At regular prices not as good a deal. Everything was excellent, the banana macadamia nut bread pudding with vanilla ice cream, wow!
The steak sandwich was amazing and the bread pudding was one of the best desserts I have ever had!
Arrived early evening, got a table on the roof top deck. Great view of the sunset. Took advantage of the OC restaurant week specials. Excellent service and food.
Our server Greg was incredible. It was a breathe of fresh air to have someone serving us who is genuinely nice and thoughtful. The food was delicious as always!! I cannot wait to go back.
Really appreciate this restaurant for its early bird dinner menu. I love spending time with friends and family but it gets expensive. The ambiance, location, great service make this a go to place hands down. It doesn’t break the bank and the food is delicious. Enjoyed my $5 mojito too😎. They even added a dessert for my husbands birthday .
Overpriced. Very loud. Food is good, but not anything special... especially at their high price.
The food at Mozambique never disappoints. The sea bass was amazing. Service is always top notch. We will be back for restaurant week.
Went there for the lobster roll. They didn't disappoint. There was a ton of lobster in the roll and boy was it good. I substituted fruit for the French fries and the fruit bowl was small but fresh. We had a side of maple bacon that was cooked crisp, which we loved. Service was very friendly. Would definitely recommend for weekend brunch.
Great place to go just back from Laguna Beach. South African themed, the steak is a must, delicious and the American wine, wow! Coming from Australia, they do know how to do their red wine
