When we got there the waitress told us to have a seat anywhere. We told her we had made the reservation for Outdoor seating. She told us that we could look to see if a table was available but that she doubted that we would find one. We left and went somewhere else.
Completely understaffed!!! All orders were wrong and took for ever.
Horrible service. Got seated and waited for 30 minutes for waiter to come back. He never did and we left. Ruined our Valentine's day evening.
It was Valentines Day and the staff was short handed, so service was slow, etc. The staff were great about it and provided complimentary champagne throughout the evening. We sat inside and had a great view of the river and ships, ferries, etc.
It was very nice
Steak was over cooked server forgot our food twice and had to fix my bill because she over charged it twice
I am not sure where to begin. The value is pretty poor. We ordered the happy hour items, with full intention to order dinner. However, after getting our parmesan truffle fries, we were so disappointed that we asked for the check and left. The fries (pictured below) were basic fries, with a hint of truffle oil and a few shavings of parmesan. It was so bad that I had to douse each frie in ketchup and I NEVER do that. Fries should be able to stand alone. I've had a better version of truffle Parm fries at the fair. Take it off the menu if you are going to be so scant with the seasonings. The drinks were fine; Chardonnay and beer were cold. Service was very good. By the river, so nice view. The place should really not call itself a restaurant. It's really an unreasonably priced hotel snack bar.
Very accommodating for a late dinner. Excellent staff!
Unbelievable food with top notch service; atmosphere was lacking however due to location in the middle of a busy lobby
No thank you
Ate on a Keto diet with no problem substituting side items.
Went to happy hour at the bar because no one was at the hostess stand. We stood there for many minutes confused and not knowing where to go. Finally sat at the bar and was not greeted just asked what we wanted to drink. We then had to ask to order food. The food was very bland and the bartender never came back until we were almost done with our food. We could never get his attention to get ketchup for our fries. Not a very good experience for us.
Stay away! We tried to go there for Thanksgiving. They were out of TURKEY! It was freezing in the place. The didn't even have any plates available when we went to the buffet. We walked out of the place.
After making reservations through open table and getting a confirmation and confirmation number we were told once we arrived that they did not have us down for dinner.
After showing them our information via email on my phone we were reluctantly seated.
Once seated we were quite annoyed with the noise level and the poor service from our waitress. We had to keep asking for things such as a spoon, creamer, sugar etc for our coffee.
The clientele was friendly, yet most were extra rushed. Food did not taste good, kinda institutional and not flavorful.
We went to the Thanksgiving buffet as we had done many years ago. Big mistake! Everything has changed. I felt like I was in a hotel breakfast bar. The buffet choices were slim. And, we rarely saw our waitress even though she only needed to refill our drinks. She brought me coffee without any cream or sugar or even a spoon even though the request was for coffee with cream and sugar. Finally, I went looking for someone who could bring me cream and sugar before coffee got to cold to drink. Took waitress THREE trips; she brought cream, then went to find the sweeteners, then left and came back later with a spoon. After we paid (the manager because we couldn't find the waitress at this point), she finally came and asked if she could bring us anything else. We had struck up a conversation with the couple at the next table because they were also very disappointed. He had not even gotten any drink yet, not even water. Hard to eat your meal without some kind of drink. So my husband told the waitress that she could help this gentleman by bringing him a drink. She said she thought he was still trying to decide what he wanted (30 minutes later!) It was a complete dud from start to finish. We miss the old restaurant and we won't go back. The Westin has a wonderful Thanksgiving buffet and, although pricey at $75 per, we have always enjoyed it and gotten great service and wonderful atmosphere. Next time we don't go home for Thanksgiving, we will go to the Westin.
BTW the manager did take one of our meals off the ticket to try to make up for the dismal meal and service, but it didn't really make up for it. But, we appreciated that he tried.
The food and service were mediocre for the price. Probably Will not visit again.
We sat out on the balcony and due to the time of year we were just about alone. A great view from the side of the river, it is not river facing however. You can see the majority of River Street, it was very peaceful and calm. We enjoyed this meal for our 2 year anniversary. The food was phenomenal! It was perfectly seasoned and cooked. I had the pot roast which fell apart perfectly.
The only downside was that it was a part of the hotel lobby, photos don’t quite show that.
The staff is friendly. The happy hour is a small selections of items with inexpensive drink selections.
The best restaurant of the weekend. Marykate was our server and did a wonderful job. I started with a perfectly prepared Martini while my wife enjoyed a glass of Merlot.
I had the ribeye steak. So flavorful and tender! It came with lump crab mashed potatoes and seasonal veggies. My wife had a generous burger - which I finished the next day.
The view was simply beautiful with views of the riverfront as well as magnificent ocean-going ships.
The manager stopped by to introduce herself and to make sure we were satisfied.
We will be back next time we are in Savannah.
View along the Savannah River was memorable.
The restaurant is in the Hyatt hotel with a nice view, but it is not sectioned off from regular hotel operations well. The hostess stand is hard to find if you enter from outside. The drink and food menu were well varied, but the restaurant was understaffed and wait times for food and drink were long. A patron at the table next to us broke a glass and no one came to check on her for assistance, even after her friend had to get a bandage from the bar. Overall, good food but poor service.
The ambiance was incredible. The views overlooking river street and the Savannah River were beautiful. We had poor service, but the food and views made it bearable.
Chose this restaurant for convenience since we were staying in Hyatt and it was raining and did not want to hustle with driving. Not even sure where to start :( The ice tea had three different shades in three different glasses from light to dark. The forty dollars steak was cold, not grilled and had a sour smell. We asked for bread never seen it. A box to go, did get one. We were there to celebrate my daughter's b.day and talked beforehand for a desert to be brought out with a candle, nope, like I never asked, oh, and the deserts we ordered were brought out without a spoon. Let’s just say the outdoor patio view of the river is nice, other than that not worth the money, plenty of places around, but the good ones were fully booked.
It took us 2 hours to eat our meal. The service
Was terrible. Appetizers were good, meal ok, dessert was burnt.
We had read reviews that the food was mediocre, and found that to be true. We were fortunate enough to be seated outside, however, and our view and atmosphere were beautiful.
Cobb salad not great, otherwise beautiful view
Waited to be seated with no one at concierge desk
Never asked if a reservation was called in
Didn't seem to care that a reservation was with OpenTable
Very quiet waitress
Food was adequate.
Stopped in for a light dinner, and we were seated quickly. Not sure why, but right after we were seated and waitress brought waters, suddenly many diners started to line up to be seated. I think it may have been too much for the late time of night, because it took a very long time to get our salads, flatbread pizza and fried green tomatoes. When we asked what desserts were available, we were told it would take 45 minutes to prepare because of the backup in the kitchen. So we left. The food we ordered was very good. So I would try this restaurant again. Slow service may have just been an accidental occurrence. Atmosphere was nice, and we were staying at the hotel, so it was convenient.
Beautiful view from the patio and live music on the Friday night we went.
Great place and service. I will definitely be back. My friend and I really enjoyed ourselves.
First off, the restaurant was freezing. Not cool, not cold, goose-bump inducing cold. We were seated quickly and a drink order was taken, but it was a very long wait for our drinks. We both ordered She Crab soup and entrees with sides. The soup was very good, the entrees were just OK but the sides were less so. We ordered a second round of beverages which once again took forever to arrive, and one of the orders wasn’t close to being correct. Even the replacement of the incorrect order took a long time. And this isn’t a cheap restaurant by any means.
I was disappointed with the quality of the food I got from M+O. It was recommended from my server that I stay away from the low country boil and get the M+O Burger. It was a complete waste of money. The double burger that looked and tasted like they were pulled straight from the freezer of McDonald's. We were seated near the bar, which was very close to the lobby of the hotel, and it was very loud and there was not even a small bit of privacy. Overall there are better places to eat in Savannah and we will not be coming back to Moss + Oak.
The food was horrible.
The she crab soup was amazing so we had high expectations for our meal (flat iron steak) the steak was tasteless and very disappointing. We heard good things about the restaurant so we were surprised. The service was attentive and the restaurant is nice but not very private
Had dinner reservations but decided to come early during happy hour (as advertised on your website) to have a drink on patio before dinner. It took awhile to find a hostess to ask if it was first cone first served on patio and when we finally found one we told yes. After that we sat for 15 min and no one came to take our order so we had to go find someone again. Once we did that we said we didn't want to miss happy hour and she said well you did. Your website said happy hour goes till 7 ( it was 6at that time) which I pulled that info on your website and showed it to her and she then showed me your menu which said 6. I asked her as consumers who have never come before and only can go by what website says..... which gets honored... website or menu we’ve never seen till now. The waitress said if we’d like a drink it would be what menu price was. We decided okay website is giving wrong info but since we could afford non happy prices we didn't leave. We were inclined to because between having to find someone to help us get seated plus getting wrong info about happy hour decided we are here might as well have a drink. We ordered and it took forever to get drinks and once we did they were no longer cold. We decided to leave at that point fearing dinner and service wouldn't be any better than the drinks experience! Sadly the 4 of us wont be back.
Much touted but not worth it.Food was mediocre and service was terrible.Need more servers .Noticed that bagle at breakfast was cold, suggesting it was defrosted recently.Food variety was limited as well.
We didn't realize that this was the lobby restaurant and bar top the Hyatt. It's not quite the romantic al fresco spot it looks like. Food variety and service were decent just not what we thought when reviewing online. Bunch of people for a conference were there drinking which got things louder. Like others have said, there's a hostess stand but nobody is managing it-so we sat at the bar.
It's a great location, full of promise. We had reservations and opted instead to sit out on the deck from which the river and river walk are visible. Our waitperson was charming/friendly. But it took way too long to get anything -- our drinks and then our food. We nearly gave up and went someplace else.
Perhaps it was an off night because the deck is fantastic and the food is pretty good. Give it a try -- we didn't see a better place for a river view.
The pot roast was outstanding! Loved the peach dessert. We sat at the bar and had excellent service all evening long!
