If we had not spent the night sick to our stomachs after eating at Morton’s, I would have given the food 3 stars for taste. But after spending $450 for 3 people and a night by the toilet, you get 1 Star. We ordered their signature porter house and for a $120 steak, I would have thought more care would have been taken to properly season it. Bland bland bland. Cooked inconsistently. Yikes. Service was great. So was the dessert. Someone should call the health department or check how they are handling their beef. There are several other steak restaurants I would recommend in New Orleans before Morton’s. It’s really gone downhill from what I remember.
Terrible service, even though we were one of three small tables on a Monday night. Served French Onion Soup luke warm. Inexcusable. Altogether disappointing and frustrating experience. There are too many great restaurants in New Orleans to go to this mall/chain steak house.
Once again Morton's has produced another gem. As always the location is in a upscale area. The entire staff went above and beyond to be absolutely sure that our dining experience would be second to none. The decor was fabulous by design and as clean as a surgical room. Morton's New Orleans is at the top of my list for all future trips to NO LA. Well done! RWE
Very disappointing evening. We were there for an anniversary dinner. A large private party was allowed to expand into the bar and spill into the dining room. They were LOUD. The food was average. I had filet mignon. My husband had shrimp pasta. We shared puréed cauliflower with truffles. Also bottle of wine. Food was bland. Could’ve had the same experience at much lower end places. Service was slow. Maybe because of the large parties ( there were also a few tables of 5 near us). Even the complimentary anniversary cheesecake tasted like a frozen Sarah Lee type treat. Not terrible food. Just blah. Forgettable. And when you pay $50 for a la cart steak, you want memorable. Not at all the Morton’s experience I’ve had in LA and NY. Too bad. We are local NOLA folks. Can’t imagine going back. Too many better options in this culinary town.
Very good. Everything from the bread to the dessert was delicious. We went for restaurant week and the pace of our food was a little off. I think our waiter was given our table and it wasn't in his section so he was running around a bit. It took some time for our bar drinks to arrive. And spacing from our appetizer to when the main course came was like really quick but I'm not sure that was our waiter's fault. The food was just finished quickly. The ambience of the restaurant is really nice. It's really pretty black, white and cream. And when you enter this restaurant from the street you come through a lobby area which has similar decor to the restaurant. Liked everything about it, definitely will return. If not here to another Morton's.
Not the experience we expected. The best part of this dining experience was our extremely amazing waiter. I will say the bread and the Iceberg Wedge were delicious but that's about where it stopped for me. I ordered the Mixed plate consisting of a 6 oz. Filet Mignon with 3 Grilled Shrimp & 2 Bacon Wrapped Scallops. While the steak was cooked to my liking it was bland. There was no taste to it and although I saw pink in the middle the cut was very dry. The shrimp were rubbery. For the table we ordered the Creamed Spinach and Twice Baked" Au Gratin Potatoes sides. Very mediocre. Usually you get a good side dish you bite into and you close your eyes and say "wow" this is great well not this time. I've actually had better au gratin potatoes from the Honey Baked ham store and those are frozen. Food is extremely overpriced.

THE NIGHT HAD STARTED WITH THE REMINDER OF THE WORST MEAL OF MY LIFE A (ALLEGED)PRIME CUT OF BEEF NOT THE CASE IT WAS JUST HORRIFYING MEMORY OF THE NIGHT BEFORE GOING TO (RUTH CRIS) IN NEW ORLEANS AND I TOLD MY WIFE "HONEY REMEMBER IT'S MORTON'S STEAK HOUSE".
WE WENT SLIGHTLEY OVER THE TOP IN THE SENSE OF ORDERING FOOD WE STARTED THE WRAPPED PROSCIUTTO AND FRESH MOZZERLLA WITH A PHENOMENAL BALSAMIC VINGRETTE DRIZZEL. THEN WE ORDERED FRENCH ONION SOUP WICH HAD A GREAT ONION FLAVOR TASTEY BROTH BUT A VERY LIGHT ON THE CHEESE OVER THE TOP.
FOR THE MAIN COURSE'S I ORDERED THE 22 OUNCE (WET AGED) RIB EYE BONE IN THE MEAT WAS DELICIOUSLY TENDER MELTED IN YOUR MOUTH WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR MY WIFE ORDERED THE 2 LBS OF ALSKAN KING CRAB LEGS (MINUS THE CLAW) WHICH WAS NOT THEIR AND IN MY WIFE'S OPINION IS THE SWEATEST PART OF THE MEAT BUT NOT TO SAY THE MEAT WAS NOT SIMPLY SUCCULENT WOULD BE A VERY BIG LIE . SIDE DISHES FOR TABLE WERE THE BAKE POTATO SPLIT FOR BOTH OF US IT WAS NOT COOKED ALL THE WAY THRU
AND A SIDE OF BRUSSEL SPROUTS WITH CARMELIZED ONION VERY GOOD BUT BY NOW I AM QUITE HAPPY AND A LITTLE SORRY THAT I ORDERED THE SIDES AND SOUPS AND THE DELECIOUS APPETIZER . FOR DESSERT WE TOOK A BREAD PUDDING WITH PECAN AND WHITE CHOCALTE SHAVINGS AND A BURBON SAUCE DRIZZLE TO GO.ONCE AGAIN SIMPLEY"WOW".
I AM SORRY THAT I CAN NOT RECALL MY WAITRESS NAME BUT SHE WAS AT THE TOP OF HER GAME NO PAD TO WRITE DOWN THE ORDER SHE WAS PERFECT SHE WAS A TRAINER FOR THE MORTONS STEAK HOUSE.
I DID NOT RATE FIVE STARS DUE TO THE SLIGHT UNDER COOKING ISSUES I MENTIONED ABOVE AND FOR THE NOISE LEVEL AND OCCASIONAL BANG YOU HEAR THRU THE CEILING FROM THE GYM UP STAIRS ALSO ON THE COMFORT LEVEL IT IS THE SECOND FLOOR ELEVATOR AVAILABLE AND THE SEATING IS SNUG WHEN CROWED IT CAN BECOME VERY WARM I CAN SPEAK ON THIS AS I WAS THE FIRST PERSON OF THE NIGHT AND WATCHED IT FILL UP AND FELT THE TEMP CHANGE EARLIER IS BETTER.🔚
Everything was great, but our waitress took away our leftovers to box them up, brought back our credit card slips to sign, and disappeared without ever bringing us our boxed food. We waited about 15 mintues, asked another waiter, and then waited a while longer and nothing happened... no manager, no sign of our waitress.
When I got home I had a voice mail from the waitress offering me a free dessert, which was silly as we'd already had dessert.
The food was good, but the disappearing box ended the experience on a sour note.
I dined at Morton's alone, and felt A bit uncomfortable doing that. But the staff could not have been nicer, from the woman who brought me to my table, the waiter, and the maître d'.
They all helped to make this a lovely dining experience. Oh, the food? To die for!
The steaks were good but the sides were just average. My husbands steak was overcooked but they did bring out another quickly. The service was sub par. The busboy kept interrupting us to ask if we wanted more water in our glass. Plates were not removed promptly. Plates were removed from one side of the table but not the other. We had to ask for bread plates. The room was very warm, we complained but it didn't get much better. This was an engagement celebration for my son and I called ahead to order a special dessert to be presented. I was told no problem but the waitress never got the order. I had to ruin the surprise to tell her
Morton's has a lot of issues. I'll start with the good- the porterhouse for 2 was cooked perfectly medium-rare as we had ordered, and the chop salad was fine. Now the bad, the music is loud and weird- almost feels like they are trying to mimic a Vegas casino steakhouse- and décor is cruise ship- not good things to my mind. The lobster bisque was not a lobster bisque. It was thin, very spicy (and I like spice) and completely overpowered the lobster. We didn't eat it and when we told the manager, she said they would be making a new batch tomorrow (as if we should care) but did not remove it from our check. While the steak was cooked well, it was terribly over-salted and over-seasoned. $13 for sides like creamed spinach is just ridiculous, even by steakhouse standards. Overall, just not a good experience.
The restaurant has a nice romantic ambiance which I can appreciate. The tables were too close together for my liking. And the dining area was very plain and nothing different or special at all. The bread and butter they brought out were good. The outside of the bread was crunchy and the inside was hot and soft and yummy. Both the Mortons salad and the Caesar salad tasted funny. I had the filet cooked medium. My piece was cooked perfectly and tasted very tender and juicy. However, my dinner date said hers was tough. The sour cream mash potatoes tasted heavily of garlic and were much too watery for my liking. The matchstick fries though... They were amazing. Seriously, my perfect fries. Perfect size, perfectly fried, perfect balance of crunch and softness. The creme brûlée was fine. It wasn't exceptional in anyway. The server did add a candle to it for my birthday so that was nice. The sugar on top was a bit thick for my liking and made my teeth hurt when eating it. I told them it was my birthday so they put birthday themed confetti on the table as well as gave us menus that said "Happy Birthday" with the date on it. Those are nice touches that I appreciate. They also give you a ticket that pays for your parking if you park in the garage. It was fine. I won't go out of my way to dine here, I prefer Ruth's Chris. However, I might get to go or sit at the bar and order the fries.
I thought the service was terrible Mortons is my favorite. I always recommend and set reservations for friends after convincing them. The service was poor. Our waiter come to the table and said yes you ladies from what I understand had a problem the last time you were here and I'm going to make sure you are very pleased tonight. We all looked at one another and didn't even comment we had no idea what he was speaking of. On top of that the service was awful he appeared to have been very anxious and just all together not a good waiter. It was a waste of money and time then my steak was over cooked they prepared another one. I just wouldn't convince my friends to join me there for dinner again.
In my review, I noted that the place was quiet. But, don't be mislead. It was only quite because we picked a nice comfortable large booth, way to the back, and ducked off to the side. Initially, we were being seated next to a group of young girls who were having a celebration. They were extremely loud. And that's fine because the staff was really kind about reseating us twice. Thereafter, we had a great dinner and a great time!
The service here was fantastic! It was my girlfriend's birthday and the night was filled with surprises from the restaurant (I won't say what they are to save the surprise :). The waiter we had was David, he was very thoughtful and catered to any need we had with a sincere smile. He also gave us a bread and butter to go because she loved he bread so much. I can't recommend this place enough for a special occasion!
