Really good food and a great atmosphere. Jory (server and bartender) was great. Penne, watermelon soup, shishito peppers among the really good items on the menu
Lovely sitting on the porch. Serving sizes are huge!
Lovely location. It has so much potential but was a let down. Original wait staff was so slow that another staff had to jump in to get our orders after nearly seated for 30 min. Food was mediocre at best.
The kitchen was out of several items, which was disappointing. The waitress was new so not perfect, but very nice.
Excellent service. Always nice to find a restaurant that you can eat outside on the porch. Food was wonderful as usual.
We’ve dined inside (very pleasant) and outside (delightful). Most of the outdoor area has a roof so no rain date needed—closed in winter. Good service for both.
I had the excellent crispy chicken twice and Hubby had crab cakes (so so) and a very good burger the last time.
Morgan’s Tavern is a dependable, favorite respite in Middlebury!
We had a wonderful morning brunch, sitting outside on the terrace, with delicious options and friendly service. Would do it again.
We had a lovely lunch on the porch with neighbors fromSouthBurlington. Staff was a bit overwhelmed but cheerful, food and atmosphere were excellent.
Food was great and we had a lovely time on the patio, but the service was quite slow for only a few tables there at the time.
Lovely lunch served in a timely manner.
Excellent service and great food! Love the porch seating!
Amazing food, drinks and service!
Love this place for a quiet lunch. Will have to try for dinner or brunch.
Nice atmosphere. Excellent meal choices. Great food!
Morgan's was a perfect venue for a business lunch, quiet with excellent service and really good fish & chips.
This one of my favorite lunch spot now that it’s open again. Eating on the porch is especially nice
Great service, excellent Bloody Mary, best onion rings - great spot for a nice lunch
Easter Brunch. Tables were nicely decorated for Easter. Staff was attentive and food was good. A very good start to the day!
Great food and service, even though they were short staffed. Would visit again next time we're in the area and highly recommend.
Stopped by on Sunday for brunch, we were the only people in the place. Food and service were good. The Inn is very cool, so we enjoyed being there more than the food. The hollandaise was very unique, as were the bloody Mary's. Both were good but not what is expected.
A great place for lunch. Try the porch for social distancing.
The setting is quintessential historic New England. Service was excellent and the food was superb. Well worth the visit.
Very enjoyable lunch on a beautiful afternoon in Vermont. We were pleased with the service and a very interesting menu. All the food was fresh and well prepared. I would highly recommend trying the Morgan Tavern.
Made preservation on Open Table, restaurant did not have it listed. There were about 30 diners and a wedding. Hostess was flustered and gave us a hard time. I offered to show her the confirmation but she huffed and set up the table. The food was inedible. Their fryer definitely needed cleaning. The haddock was a Sysco product and over-fried in stale oil. Partner's steak was a spit out.
Three friends, all of us over 80, had our first indoor meal at a restaurant since the pandemic began at the Middlebury Inn this week. It was too cool to eat outside comfortably so we took the leap and ate in! We felt very safe as tables were well separated and the waitstaff was masked at all times. The food was very good and the service excellent! As fall descends, try the Middlebury Inn!
It was a really great surprise. The food was fantastic and the wait staff were so attentive. We will definitely return. Hopefully soon!
Outstanding service and food in a comfortable atmosphere.
Ambiance was good, service was great (Antoinette), food was OK. We both had the same thoughts on this. $16.00 is too much for a bland burger with fries. Fries & Antoinette saved this from a lower rating.
The steak au poivre was outstanding and worth every penny of its $27 price. The burger was great also, and the desserts were delicious with generous portions. The raspberry sorbet was just right--lots of berry flavor and not too sweet. There's no physical barrier between the tavern and the inn lobby, so if a lot of people are staying at the inn or there's a private party like a wedding waiting for its private room, it can be a little noisy. There was only one server on a Saturday evening, so things happened a little slowly, but she stayed composed, efficient, and friendly, and did a great job (the bartender, I think, helped out when she could). We love coming here, and the little glitches don't add up to much. It's always well worth it.
Great service, great food, great atmosphere, great local beers
This is a great place for a romantic dinner. It's a beautiful place, the waitstaff is superb, and the food is delicious.
We had a fun time traveling over from Ti on a snowy January night. It was delightful to meet Diana Cook, daughter of our good friend and dentist, Dr. Dean Cook. Morgan's Tavern is charming although the bar could be more imposing. All three of us were happy with our menu choices and look forward to a return sometime.
The salad was decent but the main dishes were just average. Lobster salad was a disappointing presentation and fish was so so. The best think I could say about the restaurant is that the prices were very reasonable!
My meal was one of the best I’ve ever eaten. Seared scallops with fingerling potatoes, brussels sprouts, crispy bacon lardons, and maple brown butter. The restaurant shares a room with the bar. The place got pretty loud with people enjoying drinks and a large family group that just checked in at a large table for dinner. I would put up with the noise any time for a meal like that. I’m a local and the meal was unexpectedly fabulous.
Food was excellent and we sat on the porch - it was a lovely evening. Service was a tad slow, we were not in a hurry, but things did not come out as timely as we would have liked them to.
The farm to table dinner choice was delicious and a bargain.
We're from Pennsylvania and always invite our friends to the Middlebury Inn when we visit. The relaxed atmosphere makes it a great place for conversation. The omelette with cheddar cheese and avocado toast were delicious--and the bacon crisp, as we had requested. We enjoyed a late morning brunch and the server was terrific. She was attentive and didn't rush us.
Pleasant, comfortable, convenient location, ample parking, and good food
Made reservations for an early Mother’s Day breakfast with family, I was seated after finding waitstaff, but there was very little food left in the buffet ( not enough for one person much less four) and when my family arrived they were told that the restaurant was closed. I had to go out to lobby to find them. In short, they should not have accepted the reservation knowing that it was the same time that they closed. The staff was not accommodating. I offered to pay for the coffee I had while waiting for family to arrive but the waitstaff disappeared - very very disappointing experience! I have eaten there before with much better luck, but absolutely the last time I will take family to Morgan’s.
