Moon Rabbit is a highly-regarded Vietnamese restaurant situated in the heart of Washington D.C., drawing inspiration from the virtuous rabbit depicted in the Buddhist Jataka tale. Led by acclaimed Chef Kevin Tien, the restaurant embodies an innovative approach to Vietnamese cuisine, showcasing a menu that is both unique and complex.     The food is not traditional Vietnamese as we think of it but it’s delicious just the same. The service is always excellent and the atmosphere is bright and cheerful. We will visit often.

    We opted for the tasting menu and the wine pairing. All of the dishes were interesting, well- prepared and beautifully presented. The wine parings were excellent. The wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable but not at all overbearing. I would recommend Moon Rabbit to anyone without any reservation.

    The noise level was so high that my server forgot to order my food, my wife got her food consisted of a couple of cute dinner rolls a couple ounces of greens and 4 small shrimp. These were brought to the table one at a time. They brought us spoons ? For what? We thought for my dish which was to be a duck soup. Which never came. The dishes were removed from the table. We asked where my dish was and after some investigation we were told the order had never been processed by the kitchen. The whole debacle including the mandatory 20% service charge was $63. And I got no food. As we discussed the outing we both agreed that while what we got was tasty. It was not what we would have considered Vietnamese food. Additionally I got no food nor did they ask if we were satisfied before we left. I would not go back.

    Moon Rabbit exceeded our expectations. Everything from the moment we walked in to the moment we left the place was amazing! The ambience is super nice, the staff seem to be excited and proud to be there, they are energetic, well-informed, attentive but not bothersome. Despite us having some dietary restrictions, the staff was very willing to offer recommendations and communicate with the kitchen about the alternatives or modifications. Surely, this is expected, but it was done in a very nicely way. The food was great! We doubled on some items because they were so good! Cannot recommend enough most of the vegetables dishes! I tend to not go out anymore because the experience is usually not worth it, but Moon Rabbit was a very nice exception. I definitely look forward to get back!

    Lunch was fantastic, as always. We did the 3-course menu and it was perfect for a business lunch. The food was delicious and the group commented on how refreshing the lunch menu was compared to other options in the area for lunch.

    Food at moon rabbit is extraordinary, I love their menu, first time coming for lunch and I was so impress, every dish we had was fantastic, portion size is great and their desserts are just the best. Great value (35$ for three dishes) and great service.

    Overall great experience, the food was above expectations. Service was very friendly and the restaurant had great charm. Expensive but above expectations for a dinner for 2 at 9PM on a Monday. Would be back for another occasion in the future

    Fantastic cocktails to start and then a wonderful meal with great recommendations by our server. Prices were reasonable considering the quality of the food and attention of the staff. Don’t miss the desserts!
