Lovely place with great service. However, except for the mozzarella rolls (which were good) the pasta was subpar. The pasta was undercooked, too al dente, stuck to the teeth. The carbonara sauce tasted like diluted eggs. The amatriciana sauce tasted like boiled tomatoes with garlic. Hope they figure things out.

What a gem of a place. Front of the house and our waiter Alberto were the best. Alberto was very attentive and was great to talk to while we were dining. The meatballs were amazing, focaccia with prosciutto was great and the mozzarella rolls were a pleasant balance of cheese, meat, and fig compote. The Roman carbonara with burrata was one of the best pasta dishes I’ve ever eaten. Sitting outside was great.

The food was highly overrated and significantly overpriced for what was offered. The portions were underwhelming, and the location itself was quite small and cramped. Overall, it didn’t live up to the hype and certainly wasn’t worth the cost

Outstanding! Truffle chips and fondue, artichoke salad, short rib ravioli and prawn ravioli were all delicious, beautifully prepared and presented! Alberto provided excellent service!

Came in for the first time from Arizona based on various reviews. We had Alberto as our waiter and he was fantastic. He was very attentive and helpful making recommendations including some blind wine samples to help us decide, not just trying to sell us the most expensive glass. We ended having the focaccia to start and I had the short rib ravioli and my wife had the pesto gnocchi. Both dishes were awesome. We went early on a Tuesday with no issues but the location is relatively small so if you have a larger party or are going on a weekend a reservation is highly recommend. Will definitely go back when we’re in San Diego again.

This was my 3rd visit to Monzu. I can’t say enough about the experience. From the fresh pastas to the amazing desserts, this place nails it. Juliana our waiter, made this dining experience better than it already was. He was attentive, polite, and knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients. I could go on and on but the only way to truly enjoy an authentic Italian meal and experience is to visit Monzu. I hope you’ll have the same experiences that I’ve had. Bravo; great job.
