Beet and goat cheese salad fresh and full of good items ice wine vinaigrette was delicious
Only problem was annoying bees outside
Absolutely outstanding, delicious food! This is our second time eating here, when dropping our son off at college, and the food quality, taste, and preparation cannot be beat! Our server was wonderful and attentive and refilled our drinks frequently. We had a great table by the window where we could people watch and again, the entire experience was just fantastic! Cannot wait to dine here again!
We wanted outdoor seating during COVID-19 surge, and Monks was great for this. Covered table, well-spaced, serving really tasty food! Nice selection of local beer, cider, and wine. Greek flatbread was an outstanding starter shared by 5 adults. Beet salads with locally sourced goat cheese (with and without blackened salmon) were sumptuous and satisfying; shrimp Provençal was similarly tasty and huge. Service was good. Road noise wasn't bad. It's attached to a Marriott with the pluses (outstanding food quality & safety) and minuses (less charm than a locally owned place). Overall, what we grown ups needed on a Saturday evening.
Inside seating is in the lobby of the hotel and outside seating is at a picnic table on a small patio in the corner of the building. Service was slow as it took one and a half hours to receive our entrees after ordering. Food was below average, NY strip had no flavor and the flatbread tasted like a frozen pizza. At the end of the meal we were directed to the waitress stand at the end of the bar where we processed our bill … on the wait staff register. Do not recommend this restaurant.
Very nice restaurant attached to the Marriott in Ithaca, NY. Food good, service exceptional.
Our is mint, out of draft beer, out of all high noon flavors but one, out of mild sauce….there is a Wegmans close by? We got the monk rolls and left without ordering dinner.
Wonderful evening, outstanding service! Will definitely return.
$12Caesar salad: anchovies?? NOPE
appetizer 1/2 rack of lamb and entree 1/2 rack of lamb: NOT same size
Menu: Does Marriot have a spell-checker?? Read the menu for multiple gaffes
Lamb was delicious but overall experience was harrowing because of noise and menu problems (see above). Also appetizer arrived well after entree: cook had overcooked the 1st lamb!
Expected more from this highly rated restaurant!
Food was decent, but service was not good. Draft beer system was down the night we visited, and several other canned/ bottled selections from the menu were unavailable.
We were underwhelmed with this restaurant. It took about 40 min to receive the appetizer and over an hour to receive the meals. The food was inconsistent in preparation. The steak stir fry had little flavor with partly crunchy rice that did not appear to be the jasmine rise promised and the broccoli seemed to be an after thought add on that hadn’t been sautéed. The stuffed salmon was very well done but the Brussels sprouts side was barely cooked. Our daughter ordered side dishes: her stuffed baked potato was yummy but not really “stuffed” - some sour cream and onions. And her Brussels sprouts were forgotten and brought out 10 minutes after the rest of the meal, but they were cooked slightly more than the side from the salmon dish. The server was not really apologetic about the wait - and seemed unconcerned that things just were so-so. We wanted to like the meal more than we did, but with the combination of everything would not recommend and will not return.
Had a reservation for inside dining which they did not honor and forced us to eat outside at picnic tables next to busy street plus it was windy and cold. Will not go back again!
monks is SO SO GOOD. THE lamb chops were to DIE for, the server was so so kind and understanding and fun!
We’ve enjoyed drinks and apps at Monks in the past, and this we went for our daughter’s graduation. The food was excellent and the service was impeccable!
I haven’t been to Monk’s for dinner since before the pandemic, but went this week. They handled Covid precautions well, but the wait for food was over an hour, the food was cold and generally bad when it arrived. Service was modest at best. Overall, this was one of the worst and more expensive food experiences I’ve had in a long time. I used to enjoy Monks and visited frequently but they will have to improve dramatically before I ever visit again. I’m sad to say that but it’s the truth.
Pleasant dining early but then it got crowded and noisy.
Mediocre martini, good wings.
Food and drinks were good. Service was incredibly slow. The server was nice enough. Basically in a hotel lobby with a few tables added.
Everything was awesome. Got the flank steak bowl and tempora cauliflower. Boyfriend got the braised ribs. Everything was to die for. Alex are server was sweet and helpful. Can’t wait to go back. Best meal in a long time!
We had a reservation and weren’t seated for 20 min. Then, we sat at the table for another 30 min until a waiter came over asking if anyone had seen us yet. Apparently, no one assigned our table a waiter. We didn’t even get an appetizer until 1.5 hours after our reservation time. The food was plain and over cooked.
The only good thing about this place is the cocktails are good when the bartender cares to make them correctly.
Very nice experience, amazing meal and courteous staff!
Great service, restaurant in lobby of hotel, so people checking in while eating. Food sub par.
Fantastic food, helpful and friendly servers, overall a great dining experience!
Very good interesting menu, with good range of prices. The sandwiches are huge! Excellent caesar's salad. Fun cocktails!
We were there Sunday evening, there were just three couples there. We had cocktails and a few hors d'oevres, like shoestring fries, shrimp and wings. Everything was delicious and we like our server, a pleasant, efficient young man who made my cocktail. I would love to go back there. The ambiance is wonderful.
Absolutely delicious meal! The food was prepared creatively and was so delicious! Loved the ambiance of the restaurant and our server, Max, was great—so friendly and attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We will definitely return to this restaurant when next in Ithaca! Loved the atmosphere and meal....there are so many other wonderful meal options we’d like to try!
Good for casual comfy & relaxing casual quick bite & a beer or glass of wine. Located in the hotel lobby of Marriott so not an actual separate restaurant. Staff very attentive & hospitable.
One of the worst dinners to date
Good pub food, with nice cocktail and beer selection. Friendly staff, inviting fire pit area outside. Not great for vegans but otherwise recommended!
From the moment we walked into the restaurant the staff was excellent and seating us and taking care of all our needs. We thought the menu selection, especially the appetizers was great and enjoyed our selections.
Amazing every time we go. Had the steak and it was amazing.
I got double charged at the end of the night so the end of the night was not the best
The best restaurant experience in Ithaca! We can’t wait to go again. All the food was amazing, great service, beautiful ambiance. Love it
We hadn't been to Monks yet so we were excited to try it on a Friday night after work. It is decorated for Christmas right now and is absolutely beautiful inside. We've been to every restaurant in Ithaca and Monks definitely has the best ambience. The happy hour menu was great with 2 for 10 deals. We got a drink and poutine. The poutine was fantastic. The cheese was perfectly melted. We ordered the short rib and steak stir fry bowl. Both were amazing. The food was plated beautifully as well. We ended with a s'mores kit where you can cook marshmallows inside with chocolate and graham crackers. We can't wait to go back and have drinks by the outside fire pits. Definitely try Monks when you are in Ithaca.
The inside cocktail menu was not available outside. The cocktails was a big reason why we went there. We were told initially there was a 60 minute patio limit --we were the only ones there the entire time. Being served in to-go containers and a bag felt like take-out -- it just didn't work.
Great service, great food, absolutely worth a visit. The appetizers and the sides were super delicious!!
Overall this was an extremely disappointing experience. Three of the four drinks that I requested we’re unavailable. (Pinot Grigio/Sauvignon Blanc and Prosecco ) Seems crazy right? We had a Large party and three members were vegetarian. Of the two vegetarian options the restaurant was out of one of them.
When our meal arrived three of the entrées were plated with the incorrect sides. My sandwich had no cheese which I specifically requested. When I asked the waiter about the cheese he brought me A piece of cold cheese and a side plate. He was extremely rude And acted annoyed that all of these things had gone wrong. Meanwhile none of them were our fault. He was unapologetic and had it been up to me I would not have tipped him at all. It was truly disappointing
Food was great.. big portions and service was excellent
Great Dinner! My son and I had the steak bowl and hubby the steak sandwich. Everything was delicious ! Our waitress was lovely.
Good evening out with family and friends. Tasty food and fun drinks.
Very inventive cuisine in the heart of Ithaca Commons. Visitors will not be disappointed. Really liked the way steak was cooked and served.
