Amazing food! Always love the live music and comfortable outdoor dining area - and of course the mai tais!
Ran out of some entrees early in evening. Too much salt on everything!
This is the second year I have chosen to go to Monkey Pod for my birthday. We live on Molokai and getting there can be nuts (inter island travel) but it is so worth it.
The food is delicious. The service was great - fast, helpful, and attentive. The chairs/cushions/floor were dirty. I had to switch out my chair twice due to food stains/liquid stains on the cushions which made the "first impression" a little ick. It had me checking glasses, cutlery, and plates for cleanliness as well. Due to high foot traffic and that many families bring their children there, I imagine it's hard to keep the place "immaculate", but maybe they need new solutions for chairs so you don't have to sit on someone else's previous meal. The desserts are super delicious. It's worth the time and money to go.
Great spot, but in Ko'olina on far West side of Oahu.
Amazing food and atmosphere! And the service was great!!
Unfortunately we had a poor experience this time. From the start there was confusion about available seating, first of all we were told outside, then we were ‘sent’ upstairs. Having taken our seats one of them was soaking wet (we don’t know what it was)!!! But pants need to go to dry clean as s result!! Come on Monkey Pod get your act together!!
I took my wife here for her birthday dinner!
Great food, ambience and customer service!
Our server Whitney was awesome. Food was great and we had 3 four year olds. Thanks!
Monkeypod Happy Hour is the best deal in Koʻolina! For groups for Happy Hour itʻs good to arrive early or better to have a reservation, but they are REALLY accommodating of a large group. We had 12+ and they put us in a corner of the patio and had no problem with separate checks. I reserved and called ahead to tell them we would be a bit "fluid." We started at 3:30, which is a less busy time. left about 6/6:30, when it starts to get busy but they didnʻt rush us out at all. It was a lovely place to have a goodbye soiree for a colleague. The music that day was good -- good music, not too loud or full of beat box (which it is sometimes). Great to give local musicians a stage, though. Note that there is also a late-night Happy Hour, after 9:30 I think. There are great deals on pupu and beer/wine/select cocktails. Outside of Happy Hour, Monkeypod is a little expensive but the food is really good, esp. the pizzas. There is always a pizza of the day and these are often pretty interesting creations!
The Seared Ahi sandwich is outstanding and would have given the restaurant an overall 5 stars however there are cleanliness issues with lots of doves walking on empty tables and excessive flies.
Always a fun time here. Love sitting outside and being with family.
Our second time back within a week. Must get the Mai Tai! The grilled Ahi is perfection paired with the jalapeño mashed potatoes! Wish there were more dessert options, but the pie was on point. I could eat a bowl of the top layer of vanilla whipped cream! Delicious!
We find the prices high for the food offered. Noise is pretty loud with music and children crying and no sound buffer. The cheeseburger was OK, but the roll too bready. Salad was large enough to share, but would appreciate the burger being served with something, whether fries or a salad. Price is pretty hefty for just a burger ($14.95). Waiter was friendly and prompt.
I love the Monkeypod. They have excellent pizza specials. This time they had a corn pizza. We have had watermelon, baked potato and butternut squash pizza. As a bonus they give a discount during happy hour!
I love this place. We make it a point always to visit when in Hawaii. The happy hour is fantastic! Make sure to have a mai tai!
We love their happy hour specials and live music! Amazing food - the mushroom pizza and pumpkin ravioli is to die for.
We had delicious cocktails, great service and a beautiful sunset. Dinner was tasty and it was wonderful of the chef to accommodate our dietary needs. The musician was good, too!
Very busy restaurant with lots of young families with children. Food was fine and wait staff were good. Not a relaxing atmosphere.
I always live going to Monkey Pod, but this time we had an issue. We all ordered our food fine, but when our food started coming out... 10 min went by and my husbands food never came... so we asked and what seemed like 5 min went by the waitress comes out and said there was a mix up in n the kitchen, it will be out soon. 10 min later, got the food, it was rushed and thus not cooked the way it should have been making it hard to eat. Waitress offered to c ok compensate never did. Just sad!
From the moment we entered, to the time we were seated and taken cared of, Monkeypod staff made us feel welcomed and appreciated. For many of my friends, it was their first time dining in — they told me they enjoyed everything and would definitely return soon and recommend the place to their friends/family. The atmosphere with live music, energy, quality and presentation of the food/drinks were vibrant and outstanding, service was excellent. Our server, Michael, made sure we were taken cared of from beginning to end. Thanks for everything.
Very good dinner. Very kid friendly and fast. The fish was very fresh and the drinks were delicious.
Reservation requests were met and on time. Love coming here! A go to for my husband and I to get away for a date night!
Why are there so many good reviews of this place? Food not good, service not good. We ordered the butternut ravioli..the best thing there, only came as an appetizer, if I ever went back this would be the only thing I would order. Also got the truffle garlic fries, stale and lacking garlic; gnocchi with sausage, was alright if you like your food dripping in oil; the burger ordered medium rare, but came medium well to well done; and fish tacos, which lacked taste and was dripping water..good thing they were on the taco holder thing. Drinks..only drank water but could not get a refill. Only plus side was the food came fairly quickly. Next time I go to ko’olina..i’m Sticking to Roy’s
Food was excellent. The service was incredible. Great food, great staff equals a great experience.
The food and service were good. The experience was marred by three very loud and intoxicated men at the next table.
Great place for lunch or dinner. We have been here a number of times and have never been disappointed. This time we ordered the pizza and the ahi tacos and broccoli. The service was great. The outside seating is the best unless it is a hot day.
Some previous diner has removed the plastic cover from the tabasco and it poured on to my pizza. (I really like tabasco) When the waiter saw this he ordered another pizza without even thinking about this. Liked the quick reaction.
We like this restaurant so much we drove here twice from Waikiki where we were staying on this trip. Never disappointed.
Dispointed there wasn’t a live music as advertised my daughters noodles barely had marina sauce over it. The ribeye and fish in chips were okay not the greatest just tacos next door has better quality food.
Good food and drinks. Definitely feels like a chain restaurant compared to a local gem. I still would recommend this place to eat!
This restaurant came suggested to us based on someone we met at the resort nearby. We were told "go for the happy hour and the AMAZING Mai Tais with extra lilikoi foam. Shortly thereafter a friend heard we were in the area of the Monkeypod Kitchen and we were told the EXACT same thing; so we had to try it. So glad we did! The Mai Tais were amazing and EVERY bite of food was done perfectly. Happy hour was the way to go for sure. It was a great way to ring in our 50th birthdays in the 50th state!
We had a nice table on the railing on the second floor, per our request. The special was opa with black rice, which three of our party enjoyed. The other person had fish and chips which she enjoyed as well. Our waiter, Chris, was excellent.
Wow - I totally get that this is a resort area and that everything is over-priced, which is pretty much a given. This restaurant however, takes that concept to a whole new level, by offering burgers and fish sandwiches that are served on a bun slightly larger than one "slider" at any other restaurant. The fish sandwich is 20 bucks and the hamburger 15 bucks, which by resort standards wouldn't be so bad if they were a decent portion and came with something else - anything really, but they come with ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! You have the option of getting some truffle fries for your table for 10 bucks - really?! A small side salad of greens would be a nice component which would cost the restaurant like 30 cents per plate, but NO, you cannot even add a side salad for a charge, you have to order an entree salad for 15 to 20 bucks - they really have "Value engineered" their menu to death to insure corporate profits - it is the most aggressively greedy restaurant format I think I have ever seen. With all that said, the microscopic portions of food that we ate, were quite delicious - you just might want to stop for a light bite or small meal before you get here, so you can still pay your mortgage when you leave!
Excellent venue, great ambiance with the upstairs patio and enjoyable live music at the perfect volume. The 2 issues were price (but everything is expensive in this area) and the fact that our reservation was not honored until 20 minutes after the reserved time. They were also out of the hazy NEIPA beer I went there for but that happens all the time. These issues are notable but not a reason to avoid the spot. I recommend this venue to anyone and all ages.
Great dining alfresco. We arrived during the happy hour & were seated at outside table with a great view of the entertainment - which was fantastic. A duo with incredible voices received applause from all the patrons after every selection.
Most apps are 1/2 price & the pizzas are $10. We ordered Wood-roasted chicken wings, Fries w/whole grain mustard aioli & Wild Mushroom - Truffle Oil Pizza.
Our order came fairly quick even though they were busy.
The fries & the pizza were delicious. The chicken wings not as much. DH ordered a lemonade which was somewhat weak. So the fact that the refills were not free didn’t matter.
If you’re staying at any of the Ko’olina resorts this is walkable. Parking is free but not a lot of spaces.
Overall this a great place to dine & we will be back.
Food is expensive, but ambiance is excellent with live music. Some patrons are pretty crass, but that’s expected in a resort area. Service was excellent overall.
Our wAitress Shaleen was excellent!! Food decent, a bit pricey but we were there for happy hour so it was a better deal
I had the seafood special of the night served with black rice. Was gluten free and absolutely delicious!!
Definitely my favorite spot in Ko Olina, if not all of Hawaii!
