With brandy mushroom sauce. Served with roasted potatoes and vegetables
Seared duck breast with citrus thyme infused honey sauce. prepared medium rare. With mashed potatoes and vegetables
Romaine lettuce, Parmesan cheese, and croutons in our creamy caesar dressing
It was a bit hot patio dining! We were just glad to be able to go out!
The service was attentive without being overbearing. Our server suggested a great starter. The corkage fee seems high compared to other restaurants.
Our first experience at this restaurant was only fair. 5 years later the quality of the food was good. Not amazing but good. I felt the service was excellent. The wine selection was weak if you like good wine. Overall, 4 stars. Nice job.
The service and the food were amazing. This was all our fist time, and when this mess is done, we will go back.
Always great food. We were on the patio which is nice, shady, and secluded.
We haven't been here in a while. We decided to try it because it had new owners. The food was excellent and we are picky foodies. The service was also excellent. We will definately be back!
Ive been here twice before. Food was amazing then. Im sure it is because of all the restrictions but my mac n chs tasted undercooked and from a box. It was so good before. My boyfriend loved the lamb chops though a bit too rare. The cocktails were amazing and service fantastic. Ill be back no doubt.
What a great surprise in Auburn! We ate here twice we liked it so much
Always a great place to dine; especially with the dedicated staff & owners alway making each experience amazing
Great place to come to celebrate anything in life
Really nice experience. Seafood Pasta was perfectly cooked, full of fresh seafood and well balanced (just enough pasta without overwhelming). Duck was cooked to perfect temperature and the margaritas were 2nd to none. This is definitely a hidden jewel in downtown (not old town) Auburn. Highly recommended.
Cool inside on a 100 degree day for lunch. Outstanding steak tenderloin wrap. Would order again in a second. Looking forward to next shopping trip to Auburn.
The food is consistently good, great ambiance, and staff certainly working hard to ensure a pleasant experience. The remodeled Bar looks very nice too!
Food is always good there, had a great Birthday!
There were 4 in our party...chicken cordon Blu was okay...my son had the rib eye ..my husband had the duck...it had quite a bit of fat..but was tender and good. We Would come back...service was so-so...
Our server was very attentive and she had much help in additional staff members. The penne pasta and scallops were seasoned in sauces so exceptional. We dined on the patio which added to the ambiance. We will shall be back. Cathy & Tony
Excellent food and service. The completely remodeled space allows for safe and relaxed dining.
Nice to be back having dinner at Monkey Cat, Great new owners and staff that care !
I have eaten at the Monkey Cat in Auburn several times and have never been disappointed. Their tomato soup with bleu cheese is a taste experience not to be missed!
Wait staff were friendly and gave great recommendations. Food was very good and nicely presented.
What a great surprise. First time dining in downtown Auburn. Couldn't have been any luckier to make a reservation at Monkey Cat. Just the two of us the day after Valentine Day. More than made up for the lack of a Valentine Day dinner.
Service was slow and unattentive, it was busy but still hard to flag down the server. 2 out of 4 of our dinners were not good, the lamb was very very undercooked in one dinner entree and my seafood pasta was very bland. And it was a Birthday dinner, I expected more for my wife.
We like the Monkey as a place to bring our out of town friends as it has a lot of character. We have lived in Auburn since before the Monkey Cat when the building was the corner grocer. one thing we would like to see is another vegetarian item on the menu. Lots of our friends have taken the plunge and are Vegan and Vegetarian. still, it is a great place to eat.
Very good food and drinks was happy they didn’t change their whole menu for Valentine’s Day!
Awesome service, Great food, Memorable experience!
I have eaten at Monkey Cat many times and would normally rate it very high. Valentines Day dinner was not at all what I expected! No Valentines day special menu, No extras like flowers on the table, nothing at all! Food was not great but was very expensive! Service just so/so! Won't be back for a holiday again
Monkey Cat was recommended to us by a store owner in town.
We didn’t care for the ambience, but the staff was very nice, however
The food was not warm enough
Excellent. We were seated promptly. The friendly waitperson achieved perfect balance of attention and privacy. Food, wine and dessert were first class. A delightful evening.
Had a great time. The food was very, very good. We had the Filet Mignon and it was cooked perfect and very tender. Would highly recommend it and we will go again.
Love going to Monkey Cat! Great place for cozy dinners . I was slightly underwhelmed by the Petrale Sole special but generally highly rate food and service .
Good food, good service.
Only issue was cold air coming in the back door when people went out that way.
The two specials, brick chicken and short ribs, were EXCELLENT. The flatbread with goat cheese and mandarins appetizer was also EXCELLENT. And finally, Tony did a marvelous job, as usual. Can’t beat Monkey Cat for date night!!
The food was good, but on the expensive side. They waitress was very nice. One thing that bothered me, although I did not complain was the drinks. The specials sign coming in said there was a special on margaritas for 5$ We 4 of them. On the bill, they charged $12 each instead of $5 which was $48 instead of $20 I anticipated.
Hello, I apologize for the confusion on the margaritas. Our house margarita made with well tequila is $5 on Tuesday's; but, you were served ours silver margarita with patron silver for $12. We hope to get the opportunity to serve you again.
I have gone there 2 other times and was not impressed considering it was rated as the best restaurant in Auburn. I decided to try it again since friends have said it was good. It was better this time so possibly it was because I ordered a different meal. The service was slow but the waitress was pleasant and kept us up to date on when we would be served. It is a nice restaurant but I am spoiled from living in the Bay Area for many years and our travels around the world.
We are grateful for the opportunity to serve you again and are happy to hear that this visit was a better experience. We hope to see you again!
Consistently good service and great food. I have found menu offers a good range of dining choices.
Thank you for the wonderful review and allowing us to serve you!
I would recommend the restaurant if price is not important. I do not believe it is good value.
Monkey Cat was rather quiet when we dropped in for a late lunch after skiing all morning, but the wait staff couldn’t have been nicer. The food was fresh and prepared well; a very enjoyable experience! We hope to get there again soon.
New Year’s Eve. The food was good but portions were to small.
Table was small and uncomfortable.
Great prime rib special on Wednesday and Thursday!!!
