Monello Ratings and Reviews
The hostess very rude by been on phone as we enter and not greet us properly. She tried to seat us while also been on phone and we had to repeat our names at least twice to her while on phone. I had made reservations on open table for three people. We were taken our seats by a waitress, the table we were taken two was very small and we requested a bigger table. We pointed to one and was told it was reserved be that there was know one else there at 4:00 pm on a Saturday and no one ever showed up while we were there the whole time. As our food arrived we really couldn’t enjoy from the cold a/c blown directly over us making our pasta, and pizza cold. So really after cold food we couldn’t really enjoy it was time to go. So I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. It’s over priced and the people really weren’t that welcoming from the start.
This restaurant has declined over the past two years. The quality of the food was disappointing as compared to prior visits. Appetizers were good, but the Spaghetti a la Vongole tasted like iodine and the tiramisu was splashed with alcohol to the point where it was soggy. It seems to me that the portions have increased in size at the expense of the quality.
I was greatly looking forward to monello after a friend had recommended me. My boyfriend and I wanted to come here for Valentines Day. That was our first mistake. They offered a special Valentine’s Day menu which most places do, however it seems they raised their prices for this event which made me upset and not excited to be spending so much. Especially since I looked at their regular menu and noted that the pricing seemed reasonable. Second, what Italian place doesn’t serve bread as an appetizer?! They gave us Lima Beans. Yeah. Not worth the price we paid for the pasta.
This was our first visit to Monello. We used the Restaurant Week special lunch menu @ $15 per person to give it a try. It was an excellent value and great experience. The food and service are very good. We ate inside despite the fact that there's outside dining because of the noise and activity on the street. In addition to excellent food, they have gelato, the perfect desert after and Italian dinner.
It was the first time for a few in our group and they just had an outstanding time. Jennifer was our server and she was just phenomenal. Nothing flustered her and everyone in our party felt welcome. The food was great, my wife had the ink pasta and she loved it. Overall a great night.
It was my daughter's birthday and despite informing the hostess/servers at the time the reservation was made, nothing special was done to make her evening any different than had we been there for a regular dinner.
The lobster pasta looked amazing but I was a bit disappointed that the time it took me to crack the shells and get the meat out so I could eat the rest of the dish went cold so it wasn't as appetizing as it could have been and the pasta seemed a bit overcooked too
I saw the Parmesan Wheel pasta on a random Instagram page last week. We happened to be in Little Italy having happy hour when our group decided that we were STARVING. I got on Open Table and they had a seating for us. YEY! We were not disappointed. 2 had the Parm wheel pasta, I had the Lobster spaghetti, and another had the pizza. We had the cheap Chianti ($40 😘🤣) - it was really good! All of us left fat n happy. We will definitely return. My recommendation for a date would be to split a Parm pasta and a pizza. The best of both worlds! Joel was out waiter. Outstanding service!
We had a wonderful experience! The risotto on the parmigiana wheel was fantastic! The reason for the 3 star on food, was that the lobster in the lobster pasta was way over cooked, and we never got a check back to address it. Also, the veal dish was underwhelming.
We were seated right away even though the restaurant was very busy. Our appetizers and main course came out at the same exact time which made for a very awkward dinner. We would have enjoyed the food more had we had time to digest between courses. Linguine with clams did not taste fresh although the pasta itself was fresh and cooked well. Fettuccine with sausage and truffle was very good. Would have loved a more leisurely experience here.
