Went for my wife’s birthday. Either they don’t do anything special for birthdays, or they didn’t see it in our reservation.
All of the seafood had a fairly strong fish odor which typically occurs when the seafood is not really fresh.
Due to covid, everything on the buffet is served to you. You get a card for the lobster and crab. I guess you are only allowed one serving.

I’ve been to seafood brunch in Denver with a better variety of savory dishes, and for less.
I’m not sure what the hype is about.
The dining room feels like a work cafeteria. No ambience at all.
I really wasn’t impressed with the taste or quality of the food.

The only saving grace was the staff. They were all super friendly and tried their best to make it an enjoyable experience.

No longer AYCE crab legs but still great food. Kind of cafeteria style but it works fine. Unfortunately we ended up next to a family with 3 children under 10 and the dad was tweaking so he was loud and weird and there was a lot of back and forth traffic.

All I can say is WOW! At first I thought the price was a little high, but then I saw what I get for the money. They have oysters on the half shell and shrimp cocktail, plus shrimp and crab salad. Then they had amazing crab legs and lobster tails included in the price. The prime rib was cooked perfectly and was delicious. They also had a cook making pasta to order, a Mongolian grill, carne asada made fresh, and Pho to order. Then for dessert they have pink cotton candy and a chocolate fountain plus gelato and a bunch of other dessert to pick from. The service was so great. Our server was so friendly and helpful and the chefs were walking around and answered all of our questions. I will definitely be coming back and bring all my friends and family!

I miss the all you can eat crab. That's the main reason I go there. 😕

Great selections and very friendly waitstaff! Crab legs were some of the best in Blackhawk!

My husband and I wanted to try the buffet at this new “renowned” hotel and casino. We were super excited.! Made reservations, when we arrived we were seated immediately. For almost $50 a person, the food was such a disappointment. The pizza was cold and dry, the Italian section has three pastas that were all dry and hard. The fried rice was tasteless, and please, don’t try the pho. The broth was too dark and very salty. It had no flavor or aroma of “pho”. I’m Vietnamese, so I definitely know what edible “pho” should taste like. The meat section was good. Additionally, it is NOT all you can eat crab legs which was also another disappointment considering we’ve paid less money for all you can’t eat , in Vegas or even at Ameristar. The creme brûlée was missing the “brûlée”!! Just a big bowl of creme! All in all, i would definitely not come back to pay $50 for “not so great” food. Hopefully they will make some changes after the pandemic.

As a long time customer to the Monarch Buffet, I was sorely disappointed in the newly launched buffet. The atmosphere and the decorations were top notch! But that was all that was top notch.
Not only did they almost double the price you used to pay, but they took away their star menu option which we all know is unlimited crab. With that option being discontinued, it is absolutely not worth the 45 bucks you'll pay.
Since unlimited crab was taken away, I was forced to try other options at the buffet, and it honestly felt like I was at the Golden Corral.
Desserts have been downgraded significantly to cheap pudding and no topping ice creams.
Save your money and find somewhere else that does unlimited crab. You will have the same food quality as a $15 buffet for your other options.

I book my reservation on line and went to the buffet about 20 minutes earlier then my scheduled time. Come to find out I had to still get in line with the vips. Didn’t get my table til an hour later. Didn’t know that I can only get crab only the one time and didn’t even get that much. Very disappointed. When you make reservations they should just be able to seat you for one.

They are charging too much for a buffet that no longer has unlimited crab legs. Until the price matches the value of the food, I will not be coming back.

Even though their website opened up reservations for the buffet and sent me a confirmation txt message the day before confirming my appointment, after driving up and hour from Denver we were told that they hadn’t actually opened their buffet but if I wanted to buy something from their 24/7 bistro I could. That was it. Barely an apology and nothing was offered in compensation. Worst experience. Even if the buffet ever does open back up I will not be returning.

Well considering their buffet isn't even open, it was highly disappointing to have a reservation, and not even be alerted that the buffet was not open!! 3 hour drive for nothing!!!
