HIGHLY recommend this place!! Everything about it was what made the experience top notch. My husband and I will be coming here way more often!! The staff was super nice, food was so good and was very clean. Food wasn’t greasy or heavy at all and that’s what I loved about it. Also have such a good music selection which is also what makes me want to go back. I felt like I was on vacation in another state that’s how well the environment is put together.

I had a reservation, but when I arrived to be seated there was a wait. I was told the tables had to be cleaned, but the young lady who was supposed to be cleaning the tables was too busy playing around instead of preparing the table.

We had a wonderful meal at Monarca! It was difficult to decide what to get because so many of the dishes sounded amazing. Ultimately, two of us got the birria tacos (yum!), one got the carnitas plate (also yummy and a lot of carnitas, but not quite as inventive as other dishes on the menu, and the last person got the carne asada which was a delicious ribeye with lots of sides. Service was attentive, and we really enjoyed our evening.

Been here a few times, and as always, its consistently good. (Or we’d not return) I love the Birria tacos, it’s my go to every time. We also had the guacamole. We also ordered the tortilla soup, but sadly it was not enjoyable. However, the staff was great about swapping out the dish for the octopus tacos that were delicious. Always a treat eating here.

We don’t review often, but we have been looking for a great Mexican cuisine restaurant for a while now. Found on Social media and decided to give it a try! Food was amazing (better than we had in Mexico), service was great, and the drinks were awesome as well! Went last night and already have recommended it to family members and friends. We went for dinner, but already have plans to come try some breakfast and lunch specials!

I have been here before and the service has usually been great. However, my husband and I came here to celebrate valentines day and not once did our server come to check up on us and see how things were or to refill our drinks. We also made a reservation weeks in advance, yet had to wait 20+ minutes to be sat. The food was great besides the scallops which were really fishy.

Placed looked amazing but it wasn’t. Should a I’ve known better than to order seafood in Utah. The lobster enchiladas were horrible. The sauce was dull and tasteless, the meal just didn’t come together. I couldn’t eat it. The service was lackluster as well. I won’t be going back again. Many great establishments in SLC. This isn’t one of them. Seems like they really tried to create a unique experience. All the decor and fancy interior doesn’t make up for bad food. Fire the chef and hire someone who can cook!

Sofia was a wonderful waitress, she was warm, so patient with us and educated on the menu. She coordinated with the kitchen staff to accommodate an outside of the menu request and to ensure my food was celiac safe. The meal ended up being great and the dishes we ordered were cohesive thanks to Sofia’s suggestions.

We really enjoyed our experience at Monarca. Food was very tasty and high quality. The only thing was the quantity - a lot of food. If we weren't traveling I would have taken about 40% of it home. I will go back and eat there again.

It was my birthday. The server brought out churros with a sparkler! She lit it with a blow torch and the sparks shot up about 2 feet. People all around watched in surprise as my family sang to me. It was really amazing and the churros with chocolate dipping sauce were DELICIOUS. Dinner was also fabulous - enchiladas mole for me and my dad. My mom enjoyed the enchiladas suizas and my husband really liked the sweet potato tacos.

Remarkably flavorful, creative approach to Mexican cuisine. The French dip style tacos were out of this world. Frankly, shocking. The lobster enchilada was so flavorful, and interesting. It’s clear that the owners of this restaurant have brought an international flare from Mexico City that has not been duplicated in Salt Lake City. Absolutely fabulous experience quote, wonderful, ambience, and expense, quite reasonable. A true privilege to have this kind of lovely experience in downtown Salt Lake City. Do not miss this opportunity.
