Moku Kitchen is a chef-driven concept that brings Hawaii’s rich upcountry farming and ranching heritage to downtown Honolulu’s urban lifestyle. The upcountry way of life echoes a simpler time where food was locally-sourced and cooked over an open fire on the ranch. At Moku, we like to keep things simple and will serve Chef Peter Merriman’s twist on upcountry specials from our lively rotisserie oven.
Named after the Hawaiian word for “island”, Moku will be a gathering spot where anyone from elite foodies, families, or people seeking an authentic taste of Hawaii can swap stories and relax with an ice-cold draft beer, a carafe of wine, and an amazing meal. Everyone will feel a sense of home at Moku Kitchen.
Birthday party for adults with 10 people was serviced by Hoku. She was attentive and catered to our group. What a great experience. Food was awesome as well as quality drinks. Seared ahi dinner for breakfast was amazing.
Great food and great service. My only complaint was that we probably had to wait between 15 to 20 minutes after our reservation time. Other than that, service was and food was delicious. We will definitely coming back.
Returned after two years and was disappointed at the quality of food. Everything was over salted, even the salads. We had eaten here twice before on a previous vacation. Service was still attentive, and it’s a fun atmosphere, but up to the usual quality of a Merriman restaurant.
Just a mom & son date night. Food and service were both excellent. Save room for the strawberry pie.
My first time with a group of friends. We’re in the 50-60 age bracket. The food was Awesome and service excellent!! Very comfortable. Restaurant paid for parking—how cool is that??!!!’n. We’ll return!!
I always enjoy eating here, but the noise level is too high inside for pleasant conversation. Outside tables are better if you want to be able to hear/talk with your companions.
A great casual restaurant with something for everyone to eat. Our family of five enjoyed our dinner here after touring Pearl Harbor. Moku is a lively place with great food choices. Would recommend!
Food & Service was EXCELLENT! Loved it.
Always a pleasure to dine in don’t do take out they mess up all the time.
No complaints; great food, good service, good ambience.
Our server, Julius, was excellent. I liked the green beans with mac nuts. The bacon burger was excellent. Our group had a great lunch!
Food was unremarkable. We had the brussel sprouts, corn chowder, fish taco, duck taco, and kahlua pork pizza. The taco dishes were lacking something on the plate-small salad or veggies? The pizza was dry and overcooked. I could not recognize the few pineapple pieces on the pizza they were so burnt. I would recommend Pieology for pizza. The chowder was watery. Don't waste your money at this overpriced restaurant.
The food was delish!
Food was amazing. I did put a special request to be seated indoors (on the OpenTable app), but they still sat us outside. Fortunately, the weather wasn’t too chilly or windy so I didn’t mind.
Great service and delicious food! Props to Cason Tolentino for the delicious food! Will dine here for sure again! Highly recommended
Julia and the Host team was very accommodating even though we were very late for our reservation due to traffic...and it was valentine's day! Once seated we were attentively and graciously served by Hoku. We had the green beans, truffle fries, and No Ka Oi cocktail to start which were all awesome! I could have gone home happy right there. We followed that with the scallop special (the polenta was dreamy good), and the duck (very tender) entrees, which were also deeeelicious. Food and drinks timing was on point!!!Unfortunately we could not stay for dessert as we were headed to the opera, but the pies I saw others eating sure looked ono. We will definitely will return.
Another fantastic meal and experience at Moku! The happy hour appetizer and drink selection was amazing! The curated menu for Valentines Day was outstanding, but we couldn't resist splitting the Filet Mignon either. The pie IS TO DIE FOR! As is the Kona Coffee ice cream. Thank you, again, Moku!
The food and service was great for valentines lunch, however, the noice level was a bit too high.
Delicious food! Glad we make Open Table reservations because the restaurant got busy.
We had a fantastic experience, as always, highlighted by delicious prime rib and excellent service.
Great gathering place when friends come to visit. The only negative is that no matter if you sit inside or outside, the noise level/music level is always way too loud. You basically have to yell across the table to your guest.
Visited Moku on a vacation night out. Food was fresh, delicious and not your typical fare. I really enjoyed the decadence of the buttery roasted squash ravioli. The atmosphere was stylish and lively, and the place was full of happy diners. Service was slow at times, but they were very busy and very apologetic. The team work and support among the staff was good to see.
Excellent Service, inventive menu and hip atmosphere. Very fresh ingredients and imaginative cocktails. Would come back again.
Dined early. Got seated immediately which is always nice.
Server was just great. They train their staff well.
We’re usually really thirsty and hungry and to have the staff serve us promptly is a plus.
Great evening at Mokulua Kitchen! Loved the variety of the menu, different flavor combinations, food presentation and great service! Our server Kelsey was delightful! We had such a great evening. The only downside was the noise level! VERY noisy.
Reunion with classmate
My wife and I have a 3 year old, so we rarely get a date night. We went to Moku's Kitchen because we figure if it's a Merriman restaurant, it has to be good. Moku's has a very vibrant crowd, so if you're looking for a relaxed, quiet place, this isn't it.
Good selection of microbrew beer an da decent amount of other cocktails. My wife had a No Ka Oi cocktail and she really enjoyed it. We started with Shrimp Deviled Eggs and Pork Pot Stickers. Both appetizers were plated nicely and were very delicious.
Fo our entrees, my wife had the Ginger Glazed Roasted Duck and I had the Prime Rib. The roast duck was decent, but it was a little overdone and dry. The prime rib was juicy, tender, and done very well.
We will definitely be back to try some of the other dishes on the menu.
Great restaurant! Great food I've been there at least 15 times it never disappoints.
Our waiter went above and beyond to make this a memorable experience. Good knowledge of menu (drinks and food) and helped us tailor our meal to our exact tastes. Will definitely be back!
It was our first visit to MK. I am a retiree. I took my mom and her friend. I would recommend MK to the young people in our family, but not to my own friends.
Food and vibes were awesome
Pricey for what it served. I order a kale salad add on ahi, a very small piece of ahi, came out to $27. Over price.
Great food and better service!
