Inspired by the wood-fired Robata grills of Japan, Mizu offers a refreshed take on live-fire cooking atop the Hyatt Centric in the heart of Charlotte's SouthPark neighborhood. Led by the award-winning Indigo Road Hospitality Group, the rooftop restaurant combines the traditions of ancient Japanese cooking with Southern influences and Asian flavors. The chef offers a seafood-focused menu composed of wood-fired, raw, and chilled offerings, sushi, and shareable plates. True to the word Mizu's translation to 'water' in Japanese, the space's design takes inspiration from natural elements, which are incorporated throughout the chic, minimalist restaurant, and outdoor terrace with sweeping city views.

Two musts are the Himachi Crudo and the Brown Butter Sea Bass. Additional dishes to choose from include Maguro heat and the shishito peppers (starter shareable) for those who don’t mind a little peppery heat. The tuna tartare is worth a try as a starter shareable. Server Ivy was exceptionally pleasant and knowledgeable. Kudos!

                                                                                                                          I come here for the Brussels but learned the recipe changed however the new recipe is just as good! I needed ketchup for my potatoes which the restaurant didn’t have and was ok with using the Japanese mustard but the Manager surprised me by going downstairs to the 2nd floor to get some.

Food was excellent especially the sushi. We ate on the rooftop and forgot our sunglasses- our fault. Rooftop is wonderful but could use some shade.

                                                                                                                          This was our first time at Mizu, and everything from start to finish was exceptional. The food, the view, and the service were all outstanding. Our server, Ryan, was superb— attentive and thoughtful. When my brother misunderstood the grilled fruit dish, Ryan brought out another option on the house without hesitation. His recommendations were spot on. We especially loved the soft shell crab Benedict and the French toast. We had a wonderful experience and are already looking forward to coming back!
