    MICHELIN 1 Star2024

From the OpenTable editors: Venezuelan chefs Tatiana Mora and Miguel Guerra earned a MICHELIN Star for their exemplary plant-based menus that you can try in a 14-course tasting or four- and six-course prix-fixes (and an a la carte at the bar). Think creative dishes like watermelon crudo and an arepa sampler with sauces like creamy guasacaca alongside colorful cocktails and wines from South America. Savor it all in an industrial-chic space surrounded by glass windows and with flower garlands draped over the bar. It’s all led to rave reviews, including by The Washington Post food critic Tom Sietsema.

One of the best places at which I’ve ever eaten. They have an amazing vegan menu, which might make you never want to eat meat again.

Mita is hands-down one of the best vegetarian dining experiences I’ve had in DC. From start to finish, everything about this place felt thoughtful and elevated. The way each dish is served and explained adds so much to the overall experience—it’s clear the team takes pride in what they’re creating. I tried the Tomatito cocktail, and my dinner companion had the margarita—both were absolutely delicious and beautifully balanced. As for the food... it’s hard to pick a favorite because everything was outstanding, but the fava bean soup really stood out. It was comforting, flavorful, and perfectly executed. Whether you're vegetarian or not, Mita is a must-visit. I can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu.

Absolutely fantastic from beginning to end. The food, the wine pairings, and the cocktails, the service, all spectacular. Special thanks to Luis and Lou!

My spouse and I visited with high hopes but left with disappointment. The service was adequate. The servers, however, seemed somewhat amateurish and unsure. They spoke too softly and quickly. No flare, no exuberance, no sense of sophistication that one coukd expect at a Michelin star restaurant. We also never knew who precisely was our main server, and that was a little confusing. The setting and ambiance were sorely lacking. The open kitchen design was basic. The air conditioning was clearly inadequate. When I asked if something could be done to cool the room, the server acknowledged it was hot, but the restaurant was unable to provide a solution. That's a big failure at this price point. The decor was sub-par and lacked truly stylish pieces or other interesting art. Scuffs and scratches on the tables and walls undercut any sense of refinement. The street-level restaurant has floor-to-ceiling windows and sits the corner of two small but busy streets. The view was terrible. A rough parking lot with a high fence with barbed wire and a strayed used tire greet you to the east. We had the full tasting menu and a few drinks. Everything was tasty, but nothing was five-star amazing. The portion sizes were fine. Still, the basic service and the poor setting mean we definitely recommended against Mita.

Not worth the price. My husband and I went to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. We opted to do the chefs tasting menu and they skipped one of our main courses. Had to point it out and ask for it. Our waiter never even apologized or acknowledged it. Some random other person (they didn’t give us a name) brought out the missed dish after we had already had one of the desert courses. Wouldn’t have minded as much if they would have addressed it, but felt like they just pretended nothing happened.
