What a wonderful dinner So true Peruvian that the party next to us were Peruvian and loved the food
Very nice and original decor. Hostess was attentive as soon as we walked in. We were seated immediately and a waitress came right over with menus and asked if we wanted drinks or water. The menu was explained well and there were vegetarian and pescatarian options. The Habla Causita apetizer was delicious with different tasty sauces. The Ravioli de Langosta was mild but very tasty with a handful of chopped lobster in the center. The Chupe was excellent and had a very nice unique flavor. The flourless chocolate cake was a great combination with passionfruit and also a unique presentation. The coffee was also a bit unique tasting but very good. I felt it was a little pricey but the level of service, ambiance, and food quality more than made up for that. One appetizer, 2 glasses of wine, 2 entrees, one dessert $170 with a 20% tip.
Food and menu was great. It's a bit pricey. The service was terrible, very slow and indifferent. Maybe, it was just our waiter, but, you are trying to put yourself out there as a high end restaurant, you better match your service with your food and prices.
Very tasty - a little salty and hard to get comfortable at a high top table but excellent service and the cold potato appetizer was amazing!
As always, Mistura continues to be a delight and surprise! Thank you for making my birthday celebration so very special.
Excellent tour of Peruvian cuisine. We enjoyed the variety of ceviche and sashimi. The alpaca sashimi was particularly good. The presentation on all items is well done. This is the second time we have gone. The first had some challenges with service since it was a busy night and only one chef was at the fresh bar. Overall excellent experience.
The food is amazingly delicious and different; always enjoyable
Cal poly parents weekend. Very impressed with menu (lots from authentic Peruvian food). No pisco on drink menu. Very slow service. Shrimp tiradito lacking of flavor. Good lomo salteado. The empanadas are ok.
Very little attention to tables.
I would possible give this place a second chance.
With the caveat that it was a very busy weekend (Parents' weekend at nearby CalPoly) . . .
They were out of SIX of the items that I tried to order. Six! And the waiter was not informed by the kitchen in advance about any of them. I felt bad for him - it seemed like he didn't want to have to bring us more bad news. Unfortunately, that also meant that he disappeared for long periods of time. So the service was lousy in addition to the food availability. Which was a shame, because the food that we did have was all very delicious, truly top rate. We particularly enjoyed the salad with Ahi, the chicken skewers, and the sliced steak entree. Full flavors in every bite. Hopefully they will get their act together in the future, even on busy weekends.
Our family loved Mistura! We were in SLO for Cal Poly Family Weekend, so we took our freshman son and our teenaged daughter to dinner. We were all pleased with the excellent food, attentive service and overall feel of being in a Peruvian home. The Senor Lomo was the best! Our kids were also happy to have Inka Cola. We will be back.
We enjoyed an excellent dinner again our return visit to Mistura.
Awesome! Food and service were unparalleled
Mistura is amazing. The flavors they produce are remarkable.
Ask for Juan Carlo to wait on you and have him pick. do it family style.
It's not cheap, but you will not be disappointed
Macaroni & Cheese with short ribs. Lamb Shank entrees
starters several cebiche dishes, empanadas several to choose from. You can make a full meal out of the starters.
The menu is different and it was great that we had a waiter that knew the menu and could explain and help. Again not cheap, but worth every penny
The food was excellent! This is our third visit and we enjoyed our dinner. It did take longer for our food to arrive. But everything else was very nice. As of this date, 10/22, waiting for their liquor license. The noise level is a bit high. The openness of the restaurant might account for that but don't hesitate to dine here. Great food and nice interior.
Visited Mistura at the suggestion of a friend; so glad we did! Our party of 4 tried 3 different starters including an outstanding Empanadas selection. Every entree was perfect...lamb shanks and a clearly-unique Peruvian version of filet mignon ‘stir-fry’ were excellent examples of both new and known flavors and seasonings to be enjoyed here. Thank you!
We were at first intimidated by the size and variety of the dinner menu. It was our first time at Mistura and also first experience with Peruvian cuisine. Well, no worries. Our waitress explained the menu carefully and then advised us, since we didn't have unlimited time to slowly work our way through the small plate experience, that we'd probably want to order the single-plate dinners (though we did try one small "appetizer"). The food was a revelation – one of the best and most original dining experiences we've had in a long time. We will be back
This was our second visit. First time was for wife's birthday. Faantastic. Took a good friend this time. J.C. was our waiter. Treated us fantastically. Food was over the top. Were foodies. This is the top restaurant in the SLO area.
An an amazing culinary experience.
Beautiful meal! We enjoyed the shared plate appetizers and the main courses were flavorful and delicious. The highlight was the gelato prepared at table side, which was the perfect ending to a lovely meal. Although the dining room is large and the tables are fairly close together, the noise level is very low and conversation from the next table nearly non-existent. Of course, we were concentrating on the food! Service was attentive and we were not rushed in the least. Will return again and again.
Ian's service was fantastic. Great recommendations off the fabulous menu made our lunch exceptional. Can't wait to return to this authentic gem!
The presentation of our meals was quite nice. Everything that was ordered at our table was a hit. The service was good and unobtrusive. A bit pricey but authentic Peruvian food. Not surprised Mistura was voted best to represent U.S. for traditional Peruvian food.
Love coming to Mistura and their Peruvian food. Love the atmosphere and decor
best food in town. PLEASE never change your amazing quality!
Amazing food. Service a bit slow today.
The food was amazing. The sea bass was served on a bed of Peruvian vegetables that had unique texture and taste. There was a perfect balance between the spice and the subtle taste of the fish. I would have rated it five stars if the price of the meal has been lower. Wine was $11-16 per glass and the whole meal of two main course, two glasses of wine and one sparkling water was $120 once tax and tip was included.
Outstanding. I had out of town guests and wanted to try. Was not disappointed. Nor were they. Service was outstanding, food superior...and so it goes. Only down side was guests were placed close to us who were wearing cologne that was so overwhelming it interfered with the food. The smell, not the taste. It was very difficult to decide what to order.
From the moment you walk in, you know this place is special. The ambiance is something you would expect from a fine dining establishment in a large city. The food, OH the food! So, so good. I highly recommend the filet mignon dish and the lamb dish. Impeccably prepared and seasoned to perfection. You can't go wrong with either of those options.
Service was noticeably slow. We were looking for our server too much. $150 wasnt a good enough value for the dishes we ate. I eat fine dining in the county and surrounding counties frequently. I can safely say mistura has great ambience. But i would trade it all for great tasting food for the money. Im happy to pay $150 to $300 for a meal that gives me a wow factor. Not a single dish gave me that wow factor. A customer should never bite down on a shell in a lobster ravioli and the churros should be made fresh to order while my 2 were clearly stale and cold. Ive had far better churros at fast food places like el pollo locco. I recommend either lowering your prices or raising your culinary and service standards. Things cannot remain as they are if you hope to compete with other fine dining experiences in the county.
I loved this restaurant when in PASO. Even better now. The food is a 5 but service was a bit spotty. Not bad, just overwhelmed. Very authentic Peruvian food, very well cooked.
I had the wonderful fajitas. The meat was very tender- like a filet. The margaritas are delicious but a bit too pricey. My friends had fish dishes and loved them. Nice simple decor.
We had a great dinner here by sampling a number of appetizers. All delicious! I hope they get a liquor license so that we could enjoy a Pisco Sour next time.
Took a party of 9 to Mistura during a very busy Cal Poly weekend. Very good experience! We were seated on time. Service and food were both excellent. Will definitely go back!
It was a pleasant experience. The staff is very courteous and brought everything out in good order. We ordered some wine, an appetizer, 2 entrees and 2 desserts. The Conchas a la Parmesana was a baked scallop on the shell appetizer. It was really super tasty but seemed just a tad over cooked. I like my scallops super tender. My husband ordered the Senor Lomo - a filet, potato and rice with sauce dish - it was a nice sized entree and tasted delicious (I tried some). I ordered the Muy Machito - a seafood combination with rice and a white wine sauce. The flavor of my dish was spicy but not overbearing and I’d say very well balanced. My disappointment was some of the seafood items seemed over cooked. The fish was tender, shrimp ok but the rest of the shellfish was a bit over cooked for my taste. The calamari rings were very chewy. After dinner my husband ordered La Limena which he loved. It’s a Peruvian rice pudding dessert. I ordered the mango creme brûlée. It had a good flavor and it was interesting because they caramelized the sugar table side which was super fun. The only weird thing was the custard was cold with a hot caramelized sugar top. It was a bit pricy but we knew that going in that it would be.
So exciting to find a Peruvian restaurant in SLO and one with such an excellent menu. The quinoa salads were delicious and super healthy. Loved the Papas a la Huacaina and the empanadas. This is our favorite place to eat now!
Third time and again a real pleasure. Different cuisine for our small town, beautifully prepared and presented. The chocolate bomb dessert is not to be missed!
Food and drinks are delicious! One family member has many food allergies and the waiter was knowledgeable of dish ingredients and helped her find a perfect meal. We'll be back!
We really like the food but the service was kind of slow, hopefully it will improve. And they should have Pisco Sour! It’s a Peruvian restaurant!!
Wonderful seafood, great service ,the waitress was was very busy but really on top of everything, we’ll definitely be going back soon.
It was my first time and the experience was wonderful--relaxed, beautiful and tasty.
