Superb experience once again and looking forward to the next culinary adventure at Mistral.
Had dinner for dinaLA at highly rated Mistral. After "swimming" to the restaurant in a pouring rain, we're greeted and seated by the host at a table so close to others that I couldn't help but to only hear their conversation. When it asked if we can be seated at a table in a corner instead I was abruptly told that other people are on the way. I didn't know you can reserve a specific seating like at concert venues, but I'll definitely look into that.
After ordering drinks and food in a very loud atmosphere, I was looking forward to the meal. Ribeye, salmon, beet salad, onion soup were all...fine; not bad but not great. Items off dineLA menu were better. The biggest disappointment was the chocolate souffle. Somehow they managed to exclude the middle gooey goodness and not an ounce of molten chocolate was to be seen. As I resulted to enjoy a side cup of whipped cream instead of this pathetic attempt of a souffle, I couldn't help but think how I missed frozen souffles Trader Joe's carried for $4.50 and how it would put Mistral's to shame.
Needless to say I was disappointed with the whole experience. With an average price tag of $100 per person you have certain expectations. I expect the waiters to explain the menu, provide suggestions, offer pairings and recommendations. I expect food to be on par with the price and walk away feeling the experience had been worth it. For me it hasn't... Not even close. I will not be returning to Mistral. I'm sure they won't miss me but I'm certain I won't miss them
The dine around L A lunch for $35.00 was a complete waste of time and money. A glass of chianti was $19.00. The service was rushed. The table we asked for was "reserved" but it stayed empty for the entir meal. We are able to pay for a good meal but we dislike feeling ripped off.
Sherman Oaks Calif
Our dinner was from
The prix fixe fine LA menu. Everything we ordered was excellent.
The restaurant needs to be renovated. It was old and stodgy. The food was good but not great.
Wagyu beef ribeye mignon was tough. Chocolate souffle was not chocolate but was outstanding. Veal sweetbreads and shrimp scampi was delicious. I should have swapped out the tough ribeye for one of the other entrees.
A mainstay since 1988. Fantastic wait staff. Long list of chef specials each day that never disappoint.
This is a small, French restaurant that has been here for a very long time. The food is wonderful, the service, excellent. This is the kind of restaurant you want to put on your favorite list. On this particular evening, the four of us got there at 6:45 and didn't leave until 10:00. The place was full when we got there and full when we left.
Always love our evenings at Mistral! Henri and Raul take care of all of their customers! Food is delicious, service is excellent!
This is the best restaurant in The Valley. From the service to the food it cannot be topped.
Excited to have found such a fantastic true French restaurant. The escargot were served, as should be, in the shell and very tasty. Lamb chops were tender and full of flavor. Staff was incredibly friendly.
Wish we could take it back to FL
One of my favorite spots in the Valley. Small bistro vibe with excellent food offerings. Service is excellent.
Intimate French restaurant with atmosphere, service and pleasing menu. Busy and boisterous even on a Tuesday night. Nice experience. My dessert tasted pre-prepared, perhaps another choice like chocolate soufflé would have been better.
This is one of the best restaurants in Los Angeles !
Good today. Our previous visit (made without a reservation) was not good. Two of us had fish and it was not good at all. Today they were back to the top form we expect!
Mistral always delivers! I have been many many times and the food is always amazing, the service is exemplary and every guest is made to feel special. I cannot give enough praise for this lovely neighborhood gem and feel so lucky that it is in my neighborhood!
We celebrated my sons birthday and also an early Christmas Dinner. It was delicious from beginning to end. My son is a chef and the most critical person to share a meal with. I scored because I actually found a restaurant that he thoroughly enjoyed, The wine list, the cook on his meat. So Thank you for making a special day even more memorable.
The food, service and overall dining experience can't be any better, really. I wish I had more money; I would eat here more often.
Consistently very good food and service. It’s more than high end bistro food, which it does exceptionally well, with multiple fish and meat choices and intriguing appetizers, and a killer chocolate soufflé.
Never EVER had anything less than a stellar meal at Mistral
The staff was friendly and professional, the food was very good. I had sand dabs and while the portion was a bit big, it was delicious.
Superb!! .. I had the opportunity to experience one of the best hidden gems restaurants in The Valley.
Owner Henri, I couldn’t ask for more.. Friendly and makes you feel at home, even though is your first time.
wine and plates, Don’t hesite to ask the bar tender, Dana, for her suggestions on pairing.
If you can’t get a table reservation (they are booked solid), don’t hesitate to have dinner at the bar counter. What a experience! I’ll be back
We love Mistral. It never fails to be any less then perfect. The service, food and ambience is unparalleled in the Valley for sure, and up there with the best LA has to offer.
Usually the Lamb Chops were outstanding. This visit they were very disappointing
Best restaurant in LA!
Everything about Mistral is top notch. We will be back.
Great service and great food....very very noisy. You sit on top of the table next to you
Very tight setting
The food and service is consistently top notch! We were celebrating our daughter and future son in law’s engagement and everything was just perfect! Thanks!
Amazing staff! Great management and competitive consistently delicious!
We love this restaurant and is a family favorite. Top notch food, service, and friendliness. It's not cheap but worth every penny.
The staff, the food - everything was beyond amazing! They are very attentive of you, you definitely get what you pay for. Food was fresh and the escargot was delicious - not a lot of places get it right, but this place was excellent!
Being a steady patron of Mistral for nearly three decades my expectations are very high. Food is superb, service could not be better. Excellent wine list. This is a GREAT restaurant.
Two suggestions: order the chocolate souffle early so it will be ready at the end of your scrumptious dinner and arrive early. As the restaurant fills up it gets noisy.
I hadn't been back in years, but it failed miserably to live up to my memory. Food wasn't good for me or my friend who I dined with. And for two people without alcohol, our lunch with tip cost $140!!! For bland food and overcooked beef bourgignon. Flavorless French Onion soup. Very disappointed and I won't be going back. Mistral, you once were a spot for special occasions that delivered unrivaled food... Sadly, those days are long gone. I'll miss you.
Always great, just very loud.
The quality of the food at Mistral is superb. I’ve tried every dish and I cannot find a weak one on the menu. I’m a New Yorker at heart and Mistral reminds me of the halcyon says of working in Manhattan and enjoying high end food and service. What a gem. John Tesh.
Food, service, ambiance couldn’t have been better. Not inexpensive but worth every cent.
Recommended by a friend for our 44th anniversary dinner. We will be back!
Went for our anniversary. Wonderful evening in all aspects.
As usual every thing was excellent from the food to the service. A bit loud, but not more than expected. Love going there.
