only issue - had a little trouble find the restaurant
This was for my friend’s bday. The people at the restaurant weren’t that nice and didn’t seem to care that it was for a special occasion (no special treatment or comped dessert). The food was okay but I found the appetizers to taste better than the actual entrees. The rack of lamb was overpriced and underwhelming. I think the restaurant is overhyped to be honest. If you want to keep first time customers you should hire more wait staff (service took too long during our visit and our waiter seemed stretched thin) and care about the occasion they are celebrating.
Excellent food. Osso Bucco was good; duck extraordinary. Good wine list; we appreciated having half-bottles available. Waiter was charming. Unfortunately, lighting was very dim so wait staff was handing out flashlights, even young diners needed them. Noise level was too high for us for comfortable dining.
The food was fantastic albeit quite large portions. If you're one of those who goes out and only orders an entree, you'll be happy. If you're like us who usually order an appetizer each, an entree for each of us, at least one side for the table, and a dessert for each guest you'll be astonished at the sizes. The bottled wine list mainly consisted of big price points, and it was odd how limited the French selection was for a French restaurant: plenty of new world (esp. stateside) representation.
The service was good; attentive when needed to be for the most part of the meal. However I wish there was a little more interaction with our table in the beginning (is this too much food? can I describe some dishes? may I offer some suggestions?) They came off a bit more as an order-taker rather than someone who is there to assist you by creating your meal with you -- or at least offering that service.
Ambiance was good as well except for construction lights from outside that beamed inside the front area of the restaurant. Front door staff was pleasant. We were happy to be seated after a few moments of enjoying our drinks at the front so we could get away from it. Music was basically inaudible, but we'd rather it be low than too loud. General and moderate conversation was what filled the room.
Overall this was a restaurant that we would love to visit again soon. Next time we'll know more about portion sizes, and hopefully there'll be a little more guidance on the menu.
Took like 10 min for us to be aknoladged at our table and a while for my glass to be filled sometimes. Besides that food was good.
Partly my review is based on expecting a better experience. Partly it was: waiter didn't take our entree order until well past the appetizer came; bus person was sometimes a bit quick to get take our plates. On the plus side, we were seated immediately and the tenderloin pizza which we ordered as an appetizer was great.
Mistral is an exceptional restaurant. The service is excellent. My only complaint is that the portion sizes are far too large. The appetizers are the size of a main course. They are extremely delicious, but just far too much food.
Just 10/10. Service, food, and experience are always unbeatable
Food and service was great. Noise level was very loud! Could not have a conversation.
Dover sole and Osso Bucca we’re delicious . Brian was a great waiter. His timing was impeccable.
We had a great time and very delightful dinner, we noticed the prices overall went up, and for some reason, we found the appetizers are more flavorful than the main dishes, a few of the main entrees just too bland, and needed salts, but overall great service, great ambience, great food, definitely will come back!
Great ambiance very classy. Good food. Had the lamb and halibut!
Best of the best. Never disappoints. Tuna tartare, crab ravioli and halibut last night has left me craving more!
Awesome dinner as usual. Sat at the bar and Kim was fantastic!
Thank you for a fun evening!
I spent the most wonderful evening with family at Mistral last night for my husband's 50th birthday celebration. The food was delicious and the portions generous. Highlights were the duck, the tuna tartare and the fruit sorbets. Loved the music and the wait staff were attentive and knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
Our server was outstanding, and Mistral was exactly what we wanted for a great meal in an amazing setting!
Wonderful service was the highlight of the evening. The food was very good.
The tables are close together which is less than ideal for movement and comfort, notably during a time of COVID.
Interestingly our wine was not what it was supposed to be when second pour was requested. Never experienced.
Had a great evening.
Guaranteed beautiful evening. So happy we have Mistral in Boston!
Our favorite restaurant in Boston. It never disappoints. Food, service, atmosphere are always superb.
Mistral remains top of their game! Everything was as we remembered it. Except the mask wearing from the door to the table….
We celebrated our anniversary and it was a perfect night out away from the kids.
My wife and I have eaten at Mistral a dozen times over the past 20 years and have never been disappointed.
This is one of my favorite places. The food is always so fabulous and the service outstanding!
This was our first visit to Mistral. The dining room was amazing; very romantic ambiance. We started with a couple of the signature cocktails. For appetizers, the seared foie grass with confit of duck was excellent, though a little too salty; and goat cheese salad was delicious. The entrees, the halibut with mushroom risotto and the whole half-duck with cherry sauce and fingerlings, were well presented and fantastic. While the duck was perfectly crispy, the halibut was also on the salty side. We ended with the chocolate torte with vanilla bean ice cream. Service was warm and friendly, and not rushed. We'll definitely be returning in the future.
When serving $25/glass champagne - bring the bottle ( show it off). When serving an after dinner drink($40 gass brandy). bring the bottle and serve it at the table. Make it a production and an art form. ( as many high end places in Europe). Earn that special feeling for the customer who wants to come back and bring her friends
My favorite restaurant in Boston! Always an excellent meal and overall experience.
very annoying when they tried to seat us next to the bathroom when the dining room was empty. eventually we were seated in a lovely banquet, but it took numerous requests.
My Husband & I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary (which I noted in my reservation) and wanted a very special, high end restaurant. Our reservation was for a Sunday evening and the restaurant was packed. The hostess acknowledged our special occasion but that was was it. Based on our experience, I think Mistral's reputation is based on their past. The decor was very dated and tired (broken chandeliers), the food descriptions on the menu were ordinary and didn't draw us in and the presentation of each dish was not creative, but everything we ordered was positively delicious: The Hudson Valley Foie Gras, the Steak Au Pouvre and the Roasted Duck. The staff was attentive, but seemed to be going through the motions and never engaged us or made us feel important. All I'm saying is for entrees that range from $45 - 70 (for Sole, mind you!), I expect an outstanding experience.
Love this restaurant. Service was wonderful as was the food.
Came for a special occasion with a party of 6. Our server was kind but very slow and could not properly handle our bills. Asked to split for 3 couples and he brought us 4 separate bills. Then $40 cash went missing without being added to the bill. We waited for 25 minutes for our checks to be returned so we could leave. Overall not impressed with the service here & will not be returning. Food was good but not phenomenal for the prices.
Good food service and ambiance. Lots of nearby parking options.
Tenderloin pizza was fabulous!
Great night with friends, food and service was 100%
An exceptional dinner, thoroughly enjoyed by the 4 of us.
Been coming for 20 plus years. This will be our last experience as the food quality had deteriorated, staff was not attentive, made several mistakes, did not seem engaged. We indicated we were there for a birthday and was told a dessert would be offered saying happy birthday. all they brought was the bill at the of the meal.
Service was excellent. Chef is excellent and pastry chef excellent. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Consistently the best meal in Boston!
Amazing experience and food as always!
