   It's always a treat to go to Mr. A's. It rained, so they moved us inside. We had a nice table. Thank you for the special treatment. Beautiful restaurant and wonderful food and attentive waiters.

   We ordered drinks which took a little while to get to our table. The restaurant was not full. My husband ordered a steak Med. Well. The salmon wellington was warm, I wish it would have been warmer but did not want to send it back. It was a lovely evening. I disagree with the 5% surcharge. If something costs more, just raise the price. It's not a welcome surprise on an expensive dinner.

   Great venue and really lovely meal. View was stunning we weren't lucky enough to get a sunset but the night was clear and the view of the city and planes landing was amazing. The food was Lovely and great service from Bill our waiter. All together an amazing experience.

   Upon arriving, we were 10 minutes early so we sat at the bar. We were approached on two occasions by the Maitre d' telling us that our table was ready, however, our reservation was for 6:30pm and it was only 6:20pm. We told him that we were ordering a drink and would be finished soon. He came over at 6:25pm and told us again that our table was ready. At that point, we just paid the bar tab and went over to the hostess so we could be seated. We sat out on the patio and the view was spectacular. I was concerned that we would be cold but there are 3 heaters for every table. We were very warm. Our waitress was very nice and asked if we wanted bread and butter (which we found out later was an extra charge but we weren't told up front). We ordered more drinks and ordered appetizers. Mussels were delicious, beet salad was good too and the filet was perfect. By looking at the menu, you get the impression that your entree doesn't come with a side because there's several choices for those side dishes. We all ordered a side but then when our entrée showed up, we all had a side of potatoes with our meal plus the sides we thought we needed. It was a little too much food. Once the sun went down, the city lights were beautiful and sea world had fireworks. It was a lovely evening.

   This was our third or fourth time to Mr. A’s, and the ambiance is always impeccable. You can’t beat the view in San Diego. They seemed a bit understaffed when we went, and it took around 40 minutes to get our food, when in previous visits it has been closer to 20 minutes. Prices have definitely gone up, but you still get a solid amount of food for wheat you pay for. We will continue to return to Mr. A’s for the unbeatable view and service (which is normally excellent).

    Mister A's in Downtown San Diego is not just your ordinary restaurant, it's a culinary experience that will take you to cloud 9 & beyond! I had the pleasure of celebrating my 15th wedding anniversary with my lovely wife there for lunch & let me tell you, it was nothing short of amazing. The moment we walked in, we were greeted by the one & only Jerry-CRA Gold Medallion "Front of House Man of the Year." This guy is a legend! He not only provided us w/ impeccable service but also took the time to give us a tour of the restaurant & its rich history. Talk about going above & beyond! Now, let's talk about the food. We started off w/the Wagyu Beef Steak Tartare, & it was out of this world. The celery root crudité, pickled red onion, & levain crostini perfectly complemented the tender, melt-in-your-mouth beef. I highly recommend this appetizer to start off your meal. For our main course, my wife ordered Mister A's Soup & Sandwich - a Sweet Onion soup & a Fried Chicken Sandwich w/coleslaw & warm glazed honey. It was so delicious that I almost regretted not ordering it myself. But then, I tasted my Maine Lobster Pot Pie, and all my regrets disappeared. The combination of lobster, scallop, asparagus, mushroom, & puff pastry shell was simply divine. Let's not forget about the bread-the house-whipped French & onion-rosemary butter were to die for. And, as if that wasn't enough, we ended our meal w/the Hibiscus Blood Orange Pavlova. The crispy meringue, chantilly, local farm citrus, & macadamia nuts were the perfect sweet & tangy combination to end our dining experience. To top it all off, we enjoyed a full-bodied, robust, & flavorful dark roast coffee from Mostra. It was the perfect way to end our celebration. All in all, I highly recommend Mister A's to anyone looking for a truly memorable dining experience. And if you're lucky enough to have Jerry as your maître d',you're in for a treat! We're already planning our next visit, this time for their Jazz Brunch.

    This was a night to remember! The service and food were over the top incredible! The views were spectacular and we will definitely go back soon! There were 3 of us and the bill was over $400 so definitely will be for special occasions!(:

    This is the third time I have taken a date to Mr As since Q4 2021. About once a year. The first two times were impressive. Food of course is always amazing. Drinks are strong and flavorful. The service had always been on-point. Timing was always impressive. This latest visit however was so disappointing. We were about 8-10 minutes early, still seated within a couple minutes. Once seated, we sat at our table with nobody coming by for 5+ minutes. Finally we got someone to stop and take a drink order. This took quite some time. Weren’t brought bread. We had to ask for it. Watched others receive bread and great service when they sat down. Overall the service was consistently bad that night. The food was amazing as expected. At $200 a person, I expect more. I expect consistency with superior service. Not luck of the draw there. It was louder than normal also at our 830 reservation but died down by 9pm. Still did t have great service after what seemed like the rush left. Not impressed.

    Great views and nice ambiance. The food was significantly below what we expected based on the reputation we read about. We dine at excellent establishments all around the world so admittedly our bar is high. The service was very good. The food was ok - not well presented as one might expect. Bread - ok. Escargot - small and nothing but garlic, no subtlety like the best snails. T he food was hit and miss and nothing was excellent. The fish was fresh but the preparation was unimaginative and the sauces were ordinary. Black cod, scallops - fine, but nothing special. The exception was the Brussels sprouts - very very nice. Crisp, combination of textures, tasty glaze. The prices were high for what you got food wise.

    I feel like it might have been just an off night. The service was extremely slow & not attentive in any way. Had to send back a steak. They did take it off our bill along with a couple drinks, which was appreciated. I hold Mr. A’ s special occasion to a high standard, it was disappointing at best. My sister & brother in law were here from out of state & we had a pre wedding for my daughter & son in law ti be, and had talked it up, Very disappointing at best sadly.

    We had a wonderful evening here. Uncle Jerry was fun and funny and Benjamin, our server, was very knowledgeable about the wine list and the scotch we ordered, and attentive to every need or request we made. We were given top rated service and the food was amazing! We enjoyed the short ribs, oysters and pork belly over rice!!

    Very disappointed in the ruined experience Mister A's provided us. I made a reservation for my girlfriend and I to come for our anniversary, and we got unlucky to come on an evening when it happened to rain. That meant that my request of patio seating with a view wasn't an option, because when we arrived the outdoor section was closed. Understandable. The problem began right away however, when they sat us in their bar area about 4 feet from the bar counter on the complete opposite side of the restaurant. They had known it was our anniversary when we checked in, so this made little sense to me and by the time we asked moving was impossible. I had made the reservation 5 weeks in advance to make sure we had what we needed for a memorable and beautiful anniversary - now we were sitting in ear shot of the people at the bar drinking and being loud and the bartender taking drink orders. While the other room within the restaurant was intimate and dimly lit, our room was bright loud and had servers and runners constantly maneuvering around our table to pick up drinks etc. Our waiter came to greet us, and opened with "Are you looking to order bar menu, or dine off the dinner menu?" Which felt like a slap in the face. Then came the food. We asked for no nuts due to an allergy, right off the bat the opening salad covered in nuts. The steak and sides were just okay, considering the price. It took an hour of being seated to when our entrees arrived at the table. One of the managers, or hosts, came by several times and made a repeated joke of my girlfriend being the "real view" I needed and how beautiful she was. He said this 3 times. I managed to sit through the dinner without causing a scene for the better of our evening but really wished this whole night could have been done-over at one of a dozen other restaurants in San Diego we could have gone to that wouldn't have spoiled this night for us.

    What a great place to eat. The food was excellent, Bill (our server) was so nice, and we’ll versed on the menu. This was a birthday dinner and the place was perfect for a quiet dinner. I ONLY wished they still required a tie and coat. San Diego needs a truly (up scale) restaurant. Other than the more casual dress code, it was amazing as always.
