Mio Nonno Trattoria
Good, contemporary Italian fare. Eggplant parmesan was superb and not overloaded with mozzarella. The special, pan seared Grouper with a potato/onion base instead of polenta was very tasty. Wine selection was reasonable. The dining area is a bit loud, but not so loud that we couldn't enjoy the solo guitar player on the other side of the room. I would recommend this restaurant.
This was my second visit and both visits resulted in a very nice dining experience. Everyone’s food was excellent and the service was very good. They had a musician near the entrance and his music was very fitting for dining and the correct volume for visiting during dinner.
I highly recommend this restaurant.
Fantastic as usual. Food, service, atmosphere, all great!
Food and ambience were great!!! Highly recommend this restaurant.
We love this place. The only complaint is the table are a little too close together. We’re patient and wait for a cozier table. The chef is amazing and always makes my custom dish.
We sat at a table by the front door. It was cold outside, which made us cold and people coming in had no place to go so they were standing behind our table. That needs to be taken care of.
Not prepared for unusual Sunday traffic due to holiday. But the GM Odette made up for the too busy waiters. She was very present as well as personal, friendly and informative. We like this restaurant because it’s hard to find decent Italian down here in Texas. Not as good as the northeast, but better than usual for Texas!!
Food was good, service was spotty. First of all, what restaurant doesn't put the years of the wines on their wine menu?!?!? What's up with that? Then, we got 2 of our meals first and then waited at least 5 minutes before the other 2 arrived. Waiter was a bit too nonchalant about the whole thing...
Been here many times and this was the worst meal we have had there. Bread was cold and hard, the 4 different meals we ordered were warm/cold not hot.
This is not the usual quality we have been accustomed to.
Wine menu has significantly changed, taken some of the higher end like Caymus off the menu.
We will definitely return and chalk this up to a bad Saturday night.
Delicious food! Great service by Mike and loved the fire in patio.
Food was great! Our server was adequate but not a 5 star level server. No personality what so ever - just went through the motions. Not that we need to be entertained. He just wasn’t “warm” like the ambience is.
Also we were seated by the rear exit. A dining guest kept going in and out on his cellphone letting very cold air in and blowing on our table. This is out of the restaurant’s control but very annoying. It was a cold night!
Went with my team for a pre Christmas dinner! Loved the ambiance and service! We ordered pastas and the portions were big and really yummy.
Love this place! Always a good experience.
Excellent food and service. Always good. Pretty decent wines. Their veal Tre Funghi is excellent.
Mio Nonno’s is our goto restaurant for when guest come in from out of town or for a nice “date night”. Good atmosphere, the service/staff are well trained and the food is consistent and of good quality. Mio Nonno’s is one of the best restaurants in the area.
Food was just ok-good wine list, chairs uncomfortable, expresso machine not working and did not have any decaf coffee available only regular-when asked to go next door and get some at Starbucks, told "no can do"
The food was very good . The service was friendly and attentive, but very rushed. We ordered an appetizer, salad and entree. The salad came out before we had even started the appetizer. The entree arrived before we finished our salad. We weren't asked about dessert or coffee. There were plenty of tables, so it wasn't really necessary to hurry us.
Well you know you are in the right place on Saturday night when the musician has people dancing to an impromptu Greek line dance. Then it quieted down to fantastic meatball app and Veal Piccata cooked to perfection with spinach and polenta. The elegant Tiramsu was a fine finish another great meal.
The seating was uncomfortable and tables extremely small -- so small even the server couldn't place the appetizers or entrees. The food was average Italian and, although it did taste good, it was over-priced for the quality. Service was verging on poor, but it wasn't our server's fault. She did her best to keep pace, but was assigned so many tables, it was an impossible task. We enjoyed the live music. Bartenders were a bit arrogant, and the hostess was incredibly inexperienced, resulting in inadvertent rudeness. No, we would not visit again, unless changes are made.
A beautiful evening with great live music. Service was sadly lacking in TX friendliness. Just didn’t really feel that anyone except the hostess guiding us to our table was particularly engaging with us. The young man that served us was sweet but I felt he needed a little training to help him become more than simply a relay of our food and drink requeats.
Love this place!! Great employees, great service , amazing atmosphere and the food is outstanding!!
Polenta and mushrooms were decadent and delicious.
Outstanding food and Max was a great server. Will be back!
Excellent food great price. The service was slow. And the noise was deafening. If you want a good meal and you’re with someone you don’t want to talk to this is the place to go.
Went with friends who were visiting from the U.K. unfortunately our experience was spoilt by a metal rivet from saucepan found in one of the pasta dishes ! This was dealt with quickly while trying to use humour which was not appropriate as this could have been a very serious incident. The meal was replaced, we were offered a replacement and one free dessert. This was extremely poor due to what had happened. We will probably not return on our own or with visitors.
The food was extremely salty. I had two bites and had to stop eating it. My hisband’s dish was also very salty. We have been here once before and were not impressed but wanted to give it another try because of all the great reviews. We will not be going back.
Excellent ambiance with great food and drinks. Nice location with excellent service.
The food was wonderful.
We enjoyed our meal! The service was great and the food was delicious! We will be back.
Great place. People and food are always outstanding
Great neighborhood gem! The service was exceptional and food was great.
We will be regulars from now on!
Amazing as always! I just wish the service was better. It want stop us from going, it is the best Italian we have had in Texas.
Our favorite place for Italian food. Tonight was a big off night for them. Service wasn’t good and my favorite dish wasn’t prepared as usual. Hopefully just a bad night. 8/24/18
How is it an Italian restaurant doesn’t serve espresso or a cappuccino after a meal? Pizza was average and service was poor. In fact our waiter had an attitude and needs to find a different role in a non-customer facing position, his facial expression when we asked for an espresso was not an acceptable way to engage with customers. The pasta was good. The space is light and modern. But do something about the service and coffee situation.
As usual the food and service was excellent. Pricing is very fair for what you get and that is getting harder to find in Flower Mound. The weather was a challenge and as a result the music was moved inside which made the noise level untenable. Normally the restaurant is energetic and lively, which we like, but tonight it was so noisy we could not have a reasonable conversation with friends.
Food very flavorful. Weather was perfect for outdoor patio.
The food was fantastic. I loved the Arancini, the best I have had. The portions are huge. We will definitely be back!
Our first visit to this restaurant. The service was very good. The food was good but I thought $17 for a bowl of noodles with some shrimp (Puttanesca) was a bit pricey. It was hard to carry on a conversation because the noise level was very high.
Never coming back, Frustrated and disappointing. We had an 8:30 reservation to celebrate a special occasion. We were seated and within a few minutes the waiter tells us we need to hurry & order because the kitchen doesn’t like to take orders later than 10- 15 minutes before closing. We intended to relax and enjoy a great meal. We found ourselves ordering and eating as quickly as possible. The restaurant closed at 9:00 and the atmosphere totally changed. Keep in mind there were still several tables eating dinner but the staff was oblivious to us or just didn’t care. The cook took off his outer shirt and started cleaning in his undershirt, the music turned off and lights were turned off in kitchen area that create ambiance. It is now 9:10 and the waiter offers to get us dessert. We decided not to have dessert because by now the staff was obviously just trying to get us out the door. I’ve been to low scale chain restaurants that have a better grasp of the hospitality industry than this restaurant. We have also eaten dinner at the Allen location at the same time and had a totally different experience. It’s sad that such a great place allows a cranky kitchen to run off people that were hoping for a night where our business was welcome. We were charged and paid full price for our dinner but we were given a half price experience by the restaurant. I had to apologize to the guests I brought with me for the less than welcoming service.
This restaurant has become one of our favorite Italian restaurants in the DFW area.
Great traditional dishes ie Lasagne and awesome specialty dishes as well.
