Mimmo's Italian Restaurant
We visited Mimmo's for the 1st time on a Monday. The restaurant was full, but because there are separate rooms it wasn't loud and we could talk and enjoy ourselves without yelling. The food was excellent and the cheesecake which is made there from a family recipe was special. We look forward to visiting again when we return to Palm Desert.
Best Italian food ever
Very quiet night for the restaurant! It was Restaurant week but they didn’t participate. We’ve been there a couple of times before and find the food good and reasonable, and always top notch service.
The food was very good.
Great authentic Italian meal...to be shared amongst the family. Try the Chicken parmigiana, pesto gnocchi with chicken, chicken cacciatore, with the Toscana salad.
We will be back!!
Asked 3 times for the garlic bread we ordered. When we finally asked the waiter to cancel the order, he said no and brought it out after we had finished 3/4 if our meal. And he included it on the check! One would think he would have comped it. Fiid was very good, but service was lacking.
Really enjoyed this restaurant! The food was delish! We had an amazing server Luigi.. so sweet! Everything tasted super fresh, we will definitely be back!
Will definitely return to this family owned restaurant. Our first meal was fabulous and the service was friendly, efficient & knowledgeable about the menu. A great new find in the Rancho Mirage/Palm Desert area.
Average Italian food for the price very noisy inside. No music or vibe inside. Not bad but nothing great either
It was very nice authentic Italian tomato sauce. The meatballs were a bit too spicy but overall good. The veal Parmesan chop was fabulous. Also the Cesar salad was very good I haven’t tasted anchovy’s in a long time. Overall no shortcuts and a true Italian meal. We will be back.
Food and service were terrific! Portions were adequate but no leftovers.
Mimmo's never disappoints. Great food in a cozy setting. Good for "date night".
this has been a favorite of ours, but the food has gone down hill.
We were visiting Palm Springs area for a conference, looking for a local establishment for dinner. Mimmos had good reviews, so we tried it. The outside is deceptive; the inside is cozy, the staff is very welcoming, the service was exemplary, and the food was great! The house made sausage appetizer was wonderful, and the special burratta salad was fresh and so tasty. The veal Parmesan was bone-in and pounded tender. Linguine with red clam sauce and sea bass special were both very good. But, probably the best part was the service. The waiter was very friendly, and explained all of the specials and homemade items. The bread, drinks, and first courses showed up quickly. Water was refilled regularly, and dishes were cleared by two people in record time. Silverware was replaced with each course. White table clothes were a plus. If your in the Palm Springs area, give Mimmos a try.
Love the food here but our waiter who has been here for as long as we can remember was so not interested in us. Thank goodness for the rest of the staff. Wife wanted a glass of house wine and all he wanted to do was push for an upgrade. Rambled through the specials like he could care less. Thank goodness the food is 5 stars
Had great expectations based on communications from Lalo prior to our visit. When we arrived (as new customers) no real greeting, just seated. Then, our waiter proceeded to tell us "what we couldn't have" - no substituting pasta for the potatoes with the chicken parm. Our frustration continued when we were told the kitchen didn't have any fettucine pasta! When the entres arrived, squid ink pappardelle with seafood and creme sauce was superb. Shrimp diavolo were tender, with a tantalizingly spicey marinara. Meatballs with spaghetti were too hard, though tasty.
Never once did Lalo or any floor manager check our table to see how we were enjoying our first visit.
If you want Mimmo's food badly enough to endure being ignored, the prices are mid-range. But, there are many other italian restaurants in the CV who will show you more attention and appreciation.
Perfect sea bass, really good veal piccata (which is why we went), terrific cannolis and creme brûlée, and a wonderful Mother's Day special of squid ink pasta with seafood. Overall, it was our second nice outing at Mimmo's. I like the old world service and the fact it is a little less fancy and expensive than nearby competitors.
One of the best Italian meals I have had and I have traveled all over the world and stayed in the best places and ate at the best restaurants. Great service and kind staff. The carrots are insane ... the polenta is incredible and my son was in heaven with the chocolate gelato. No kids menu but accommodating for a small child to make half orders of spaghetti and meatballs and such. Ended up coming two nights in a row since it was so tasty. The Cesar salad was delicious .. one night we had buratta on sliced heirlooms it was wonderful. One night we had chicken piccata and grilled white fish the other chicken parm. Wonderful. I must point out that you have the most wonderful hard working busboys of any restaurant I have been to. They remembered us from the night before and all our small requests and were so nice and kind. Such a great dinner two nights in a row!
This has always been one of my favorite italian restaurants in the desert. This time we brought 2 locals along with us. We were seated in the enclosed porch where I asked if there was air conditioning. I was assured there was. However, as the temp in the room rose I noticed the windows were open. The service was good to start and then did not exist. We were left on the porch with zero attention.
My Mediterranean Salad was a very small tasteless salad for $12
My fav pasta entree was over cooked. When the parm cheese finally arrived it was sprinkled by a server as if it were a rarest of cheeses. I asked 4 times for an additional
“Serving” to get enough to cover my bland dish
Our guests were not impressed either. Their Osso Buco and pounded veal chop were not enjoyed and left on their plates.
Very good service and food. Loved the crab ravioli and my husband loved the eggplant parmesan!
Arrived at Mimmos for the first time, and was seated next to the order printer and bar although the place was empty. Garlic bread was terrible, arriving just before our entrees instead as an appetizer as ordered. Last, it was a birthday occasion as indicated on Open Table. There was no acknowledgement of a birthday until we walked out the door to leave. Way too much competition in the Italian restaurant space to ever return.
We were quite disappointed. Everything was just ok.
Lasagna and chicken parmigiana were blah. We would not return.
Far too expensive for what is served.
Consistently good...not fancy or pretentious. Requested the patio but too late.
Family in from out of town and they love Italian food. Chose one of our favorites to introduce them to. Food was great. Lots of choices even for vegetarians. Our service was exceptional. Most enjoyable evening.
Excellent all around
Food very average
We have been eating at Mimmo's since it opened. It has remained our favorite Italian restaurant in the valley. The veal dishes are among their best offerings, but their gnocchi are the best ever! We like them better with the 4-cheese sauce but the pesto is also good. Their green olive tapenade is so good we often use it both as appetizer and dessert. It's a family-run business and it shows. I'd like a better and better valued list of wines by the glass.
The food is not innovative or plentiful. All my guest separately provided feedback that the servings were skimpy.
Always a treat. Food is great, service is excellent and the ambiance is very casual and nice. It is one of our favorite places.
Our first time at Mimmo’s. What a great experience all around!!! Definitely will be returning.
Very good Italian food at a very reasonable price. As a local I will definitely be back
My husband ordered Petrale Sole and was served branding. As a former owner of a seafood market I truly know the difference. We pointed it out to our server, who said no, it was petrale.
Lasagna and veal piccata were excellent. A little pricey for lasagna with no salad but it was good. Warm homemade bread with butter would have been more Italian! There was bread but cold and didn’t look fresh and homemade
We had a great dining experience at Mimmo’s Italian Restaurant. Our waiter was great, explained all of the specials and made some recommendations when we couldn’t decide on what to order because so many entrees looked delicious. The homemade veal ravioli in vodka sauce was amazing. The chicken piccata was also very good. My husband had the veal special which he loved. Can’t say enough about what a nice experience it was at Mimmo’s. Very enjoyable evening with great food and great service. We will definitely be back.
Probably the best way to describe this restaurant is "inconsistent." Our last visit was enjoyable and the food was pretty good. So we brought new friends in this time. The service was spotty and the food was mediocre at best. The Eggplant Parmesan was mushy, so much so that you couldn't tell the eggplant from the melted cheese. Sorely lacking in taste and texture. The Bolognese sauce was also a disappointment. It tasted bland, and the spaghetti was broken into smaller pieces so it was difficult for the traditional fork and spoon roll. The bread this time was chalky and flavorless. It was much better the last time we were here. The only dish we enjoyed was the Caesar Salad. Our waiter never smiled the entire time he served us and appeared to be stressed even though his area was not that busy. We may come back; but not anytime soon.
Service is perfect, food is just what you would hope for in a really nice Italian restaurant. The only issue is if you have a boisterous party near you, you will either have to ignore, embrace or just suck it up to they are old friends having fun.
Excellent authentic Italian cuisine. Service was attentive, wine list was limited.
Good local Italian food. Nice menu options, service was hit or miss.
Less than ordinary. The food was bland and boring. Service very good. If you are a real foodie skip this place.
Hidden gem. Fantastic. Great Food. Great service. Friendly team. Will definitely return.
