   We love the food but today we learned something new: a cup of black coffee is $4.00 and if you get a warm up or refill, it’s another $4.00. Seriously??? We are enjoying 23.00 breakfast entrees and every hit of black coffee is $4.00? Even cheap diners refill your coffee cup. I asked if we came for dinner and ordered a Coke, are refills charged and our server said no, they’re free. Now I’m not talking about fancy coffee, like lattes or specialty; simple plain black coffee is one small mug- and when we got the bill, our coffee for two people was $16.00! This is unbelievable and a terrible practice if you serve breakfast/brunch.

   Service was great! Salad was ok….would be better if it wasn’t kale. Should have more than kale as an option. Unless the menu changes, I don’t think I’ll be back.

   We enjoyed Milk & Honey's energy. The food and service were great! It is loud in the restaurant, so difficult to have a quiet conversation.

   I work at Hen Quarter in Alexandria. We are another Thompson Restaurant. The restaurant was beautiful. Open and bright. Staff was friendly but you can tell our server might have been distracted or off becasue it was a slow part of service. The steps of service were lacking urgency. But I should have let her know we had to leave. We ordered French toast, the smashed potatoes and wings, we never got the potatoes so I ordered another French toast. The one I ordered was not the same as the first one, it was soggy. The first one was perfectly cooked. I ordered the kool aid cosmo, the server was knowledgeable about it and let me know it was on tap. And my friend ordered a high noon, for the ease of making those drinks and the fact that only one person was sitting at the bar it should not have taken so long to get the drinks. Kool aid cosmo was not the best. It tastes kind of like a flat, thin drink, cheap vodka mixed with koolaid. Server was so nice, things she can control were fine.

   I wanted to love this place since I love southern cooking and want to support black owned businesses. I ordered a fried chicken sandwich with honey glaze, truffle butter and home made pickles. I received a bun and chicken. The french fies were cold and limp. I requested warm fries. Those replacement fries were hot, but they were still limp. My advice would be to order crispy fires. The other dinners had similar issues with their orders. There was a timing issue between the kitchen and bussers. We received our entrees before our appetizer of fried brussel sprouts in honey. The brussel sprouts were so covered with a honey sauce that everything was limp and way too sweet. Since our mains came with the app we just tasted the app since and ate the mains. When our dessert arrived our table was still covered with dishes. The busser set the cake in amongst all of the dirty plates and left. We called the waitress and she had the table cleared but everything was taken except the cake. We once again called the waitress to get utensils to eat the cake. The meal was a disappointment, the bussers were harried. The waitress was great. She was constantly hurrying to make things right and had a smile on her face always. My hope is that the quality of the food and the timing was just a part of getting the kinks out of a newly opened business and that things will improve. I will give it another try in a few months to see if they have improved. If not then I will sadly spend my hard earned dollars elsewhere.

    Everything was amazing from the time we walked in the door. Great food and amazing service!
