Milano Ristorante is a 38 year-old family-run business tucked away in a less-trafficked part of the beautiful Tiburon peninsula. All the locals know about them but they’re a taxi ride from the Tiburon ferry landing so travelers have to seek them out. That’s a big part of the reason that Milano has become a Marin hangout with a local crowd and lots of interesting local characters. They’ve been called Tiburon’s answer to “Cheers” because they try hard to know your name right away and they're always glad you came. Their Italian dishes are made fresh, with locally-sourced ingredients, but you won’t find any modern creations there, only good old-fashioned Italian cuisine, with a focus on the classics. Chef owner Ruggero (Roger, to the locals) is there every night, darting from the kitchen to the bar, stopping to say hello to diners and even play with toddlers. The place reflects his casual, warm and friendly energy. Kick back and get away in Tiburon’s best-loved hideout!

Our meal was good and service was good. I will return. The restaurant said that it is not using Open Table any longer. Surprised.

It's a nice little place with average food, not really Italian but close. Probably a non Italian chef. The servers need training in how to be on top of little things. The smiling bartender gal is the best energy in the room for otherwise the staff is tired or just uninterested. I don't think the owner is into being in the business anymore for he does not engage.

Lovely little local Italian restaurant located in Cove Shopping Center. Easy parking. The food is reasonably priced. Portions are good sizes (as are the glasses of wine!) We've been there twice in the past month and both times had delicious meals. Once with family, once with small group. Very accommodating and the owner Roger couldn't be nicer. "Family" atmosphere. Great place!

Why didn't I believe Eveyone on Yelp? Was hoping for a fast easy meal and didn't think you could really mess up Italian food that terribly. I was wrong. Food was horrid, bordering on inedible and I don't think I've ever said that about a restaurant. Service was equally miserable. Not kidding when I tell you our food was almost thrown down on our table. Never again. Don't waste your money.

I've recently moved to Tiburon and was thrilled when I found this restaurant was located a short walk away. I've eaten here four times and have found it to be generally pleasant, but the quality of food offerings is inconsistent. The sauces tend to be over salted and on one occasion I found a chicken bone in my lasagna. That was ironic because I had just had a mixed salad and found what looked like a large root among the greens. The waiter looked at it and seemed puzzled. He brought the salad back to the kitchen and I could see the kitchen staff looking at it rather quizzically as well. They did bring me a new one, but it made me slightly uncomfortable knowing that the root had probably been contained in the bag of pre-prepared greens from the vendor. When I returned with a group of friends two days ago one of my dining partners asked that her gnocchi entree be returned to the kitchen as it bore no resemblance to any gnocchi she had ever had in the past - and this is an Italian American who's eaten in virtually every S.F. restaurant. All that said, the service is usually pretty good and it's nice to have a place close by that also has a full bar. Although I'd recommend the restaurant, it can be hit or miss, so don't be surprised if you get some surprises.

My husband & I met another couple at this restaurant for a casual dinner. We really enjoy the garlic cheese bread that is served when we first sit down. We all enjoyed our meals, especially the Caesar salad.. Easy parking which is nice. We will go back as the servings are a good size for the price paid.

Pleasant surroundings , quiet restaurant. We wanted to enjoy the food, but all four entrees we ordered were lacking in flavor. Waiter service was just OK. Menu items were well priced. Overall, just a fair experience.

Service was very acceptable. The restaurant itself is dark with no candles on the tables and I didn't feel it was all that romantic. The food was bland with heavy sauces slathered on the meats. The portions were large. Parking was easy.

I love this little place, been coming here off and on for years. Don't live nearby or would be there much more often. Yummy and very authentic food, great value. Caesar is excellent, large menu with many choices. Very generous glass of wine too. And you can actually hear your conversation with the person you are with on a Saturday night. Go, you will enjoy it!
