Honoring Chef Miki Izumisawa, the female, award-winning sushi artist, originally trained by the one and only Nobu Matsuhisa. Miki was inspired by nature to create unique nigiri, cut rolls and hand rolls that blur the line between art and fusion sushi. Miki's recipes transform elements of the natural world with names such as Lava Flow, Moon and Sun, Feather in the Sky, and Prairie. Before her passing, Miki carefully coached outstanding female-only sushi chefs to execute her masterpieces. Her legacy continues in this romantic styled coastal, intimate sushi bar and cozy 18 window seats with views of Laguna's main beach. Owners Chris Olsen and Greg Washer are longtime locals who appreciate what Miki did for this community with an outstanding Japanese experience pushing the boundaries of tradition. Reservations recommended!

Miki Fusion Sushi is probably the best restaurant in Laguna Beach. (I have lived in Laguna for decades.)

I've been meaning to visit Miki Sushi ever since I read about the re-opening and the compelling story of the original Miki. I finally made it in last night, and was not disappointed. I had several pieces off nigiri, all recommended by our extremely welcoming server and host, Tanya, and they were delicious. Fresh, beautifully presented, and with unique and well-balanced flavors. The Hand roll my partner ordered was equally tasty and she couldn't bear to leave even one bite behind. If you are wondering if you should go - run, don't walk! p.s. the fabulous views of Main Beach were a welcome bonus!
