   Love the food at Michaels, the waiter couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating. My companion thought the dish she ordered was too spicy so he brought her another option right away. It was a Monday night, so fairly quiet but still lively in the Van Aken District. I recommend Michaels to anyone who asks.

   Our server, Kenzie, was excellent, friendly and attentive. The barkeeper made a stellar Old Fashioned. Our pizza and pastas dishes were delicious, and we took some leftovers home, a bonus.

   great location and nice setup.menu is not huge but covers many tastes, wine list is limited, but the range of offerings is reasonable for wine dabblers and for oenophiles who are not expecting list of 100. service can be spotty, although the circulating manager picks up the slack and is attentive and very service oriented. have eaten here several times, food also fluctuates in taste and preparation. some creative dishes work out great - kale caesar. the pasta dishes have several times missed in both flavor (absent or boring rigatoni) and preparation (VERY under, or over done). have had great fish (but also over-cooked fish) - cobia, a Florida fish which i love, and is rarely found on menus north of Fla, is a staple here. pizzas are good, and popular. the hummus in happy hour is great. i'd say it is worth a try for dinner (certainly for happy hour) - especially when dining is available outside.

    The food was amazing, but the service was terrible. Our soup and salad was delivered at the same time as our entrees. Management did correct the issue by remaking our entrees. Then after we received our bill, we waited over 30 minutes for the waiter to come back and finally asked another staff member to do so. I would definitely go back, but would request a different waiter if Bryon showed up at the table again.

    Nice ambiance. Curry was flavorful but small. And had to order extra bread which took 15 min. Somewhat pricy for what you get.

    Outstanding restaurant in Van Aken Center in Shaker Heights Intimate setting-excellent food especially the sea food pasta dish pizzas are also outstanding Prices are a bit higher than neighboring restaurants but worth it

    Our server, Al, was attentive and personable. The food was excellent. Seared Ahi served on kimchi was outstanding. We very much enjoyed our meal.

    Our party of four shared many menu items over several courses. Every single item was wonderful! The service was attentive and accommodating. Cocktails and excellent wine rounded out a fantastic experience.

    Me and my husband love Michael’s. At this time we’ve dined here +5 times. The food is outstanding. Our favorites are the mushroom toast, all of their pastas and pizzas. Ok, it is obviously hard to choose. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

    The service was slow, 30mins for a charcuterie board appetizer costing 36$ and 2 snall bits of foccacia! oh come on! The entree, two pasta dishes, came out at different times, warm, not hot. Food quality..casarecce and strozzapreti was fair conisering the cost.

    It was our first time at Michael's on a Friday night. We got in easily via a reservation. It was a warm evening so the garage-type doors were open to the night air. We skipped appetizers and went straight to dinner. I had the mushroom pizza and he had a burger. He had a beer, I had red wine. Both dinners were okay, I declined my leftovers as I didn't feel they would keep well. But I could see one person eating a whole pizza themselves as an entree. The ambience was great for Van Aken. Server was a bit distracted and was not as attentive as we would have liked. The wine was very pricey. We will try again, may e we just hit an off night.

    I made reservations on OpenTable which were confirmed and I called the restaurant to confirm as well I showed up at my time and the restaurant was closed with no explanation. Fortunately there was another restaurant open and we were able to get a table I was with a client and it was awfully embarrassing pulling up to a restaurant that I had heard such good ratings about and it was closed.

    Food quality remains very good and so is service. The menu has become a little narrow and a bit expensive for having a nice, casual night out as a couple or family, which is what I think this restaurant needs to cater to. A great hamburger and french fries is available as an off-menu item and is delicious but at $25 is quite steep. Happy hour for drinks and snacks are great. Quality of pizza was great!

    Food was mediocre. Poached eggs overdone. Frittata was tough. It was clearly not made fresh as it was cut in a wedge from a larger piece.

    The quality of food is lacking, especially considering the prices. In the 4 times I have had dinner there, 3 times the quality was lacking. The fish was dry and oversaturated with sage. The pork porterhouse is tough and tastes like nothing....

    First time back to Michel's Genuine in a while and it's not what it used to be. My wife had the kale salad and the kale was hard and not well prepared. They used to have WONDERFUL short rib pasta but that's off the menu. The focaccia bread came out piping hot floating in a pan of grease and was pretty bad. Overall - strange service (we were in the middle of talking and they cleared our table and even took the water we were still drinking) the server was slow and seemed to be having a bad day. Overall - not the place it used to be and on our list of places that used to be good but is now OK - probably our last visit to our favorite VAD restaurant.

    Service was so SLOW! We sat outside on the patio, which had a nice ambiance. However, upon sitting down we noticed right away about 5 to 6 tables around us were without food and customers looked highly irritated. We were about to leave after waiting about 10 minutes to place a drink order, but decided to stick it out as it was our first time at the restaurant and we wanted to give them benefit of the doubt. My husband ordered a draft beer which was certainly a small poor. We placed our order for an appetizer and 2 entrees and there must have been confusion in the kitchen as we were brought mussels (which was our appetizer) three separate times. Meanwhile all the tables around us still didn’t have food. We watched a couple walk out after waiting to be greeted and a family of four with young children ask multiple times what the status of their orders were, of course no clear answer was given. Our entrees came and were average at best. I had the cobia which was over cooked and my husband had a pasta dish that was was so so. He ordered a second beer which was never brought out to him. We asked for the check and left as soon as possible. Overall, it was overpriced for the service and experience!!

    In prior visits, we really enjoyed the quality of food. This time, not so much. The charcuterie board ($36) was extremely small and didn't contain some of the items listed on the menu. I've had boards at other restaurants that were way better at 50% of the cost. My wife's fish was overdone. Hope it's just a blip.

    The only thing we were disappointed with was the pour of our Martini Drinks. It was only 3 ounces and did not even come close to the martini rim. When I purchase a pizza that cost $49 I expect a GOOD POUR! Very disappointed.

    We showed up on time. Ordered the watermelon/ tomato salad. Awful tasted like the dressing wasn’t even mixed. Ordered a pizza and it came out burnt. The waiter came over and said I know it’s burnt is this ok? We sent it back and it took 35+ minutes to remake it. By that time we were so annoyed that we asked for the check. No one came over to see what’s going. Awful service, never coming back here again. If I could give a rating it would be below 0.
