Portions too small
Loud and mediocre. Miso soup was boring. Waited forever for eel sushi that was tiny, dry, and overcooked. Beef tartare with quail egg was tasty. Had to ask for wasabi and soy sauce.
Best sushi in town
Disappointed to write this review....We have MF on our frequent repeat list, last night was the first time ever that we both were disappointed with the quality. The sushi just didn’t taste fresh, specifically the blue fin tuna and squid sushi had a funky taste. I woke up about 2 am with violent stomach problems, pretty sure from the sushi, it was the only meal I had yesterday.
We also had black cod and it wasn’t up to par, came out cold and not good. Hopefully last night was just a fluke but our meal was a real let down from our usual experience.
This is great food. Personally I consider the tables too crowded... we're packed in rather tightly. The wait staff is totally on the ball. A great place for a wonderful dining experience.
MF Sushi is in every category one of the very best in town. Outstanding food. Personable, knowledgeable, professional, efficient service. Pricey but so worth it. Wish it was close enough to me to eat there several times a week.
Great service. Awesome food. Very fresh. Loved the preparations were being done in front of us.
Food was excellent and waiter Kyle was great. Hostess with the long fake eyelashes (construction paper?) was dour and most unwelcoming. They should get rid of her.
Food was amazing. Service was great! A great date night
Best sushi we’ve ever had. So fresh! Service was great. Prices are reasonable for the quality. We will definitely return!
Great food but spotty service
Best sushi I’ve ever had! The service was excellent as well!
Had the chef tasting -omakase (bit more informal since we had it at our table instead of the sushi bar)
Some of the items were incredible and others left a bit to be desired.
I have had the omakase at the sushi bar before and it was excellent. One thing I will say is that there is nothing really innovative with the flavors so if you have had the chefs tastings here before it is generally the same. Expect a bit too much truffle use, peppers on much of the nigiri, and similar flavor profiles.
Don’t get me wrong the food is great and the cocktails are very good for a sushi place just hard to rate it a 5/5 given the overall ambience for the price since there are so many other incredible options in Houston.
Attentive server who was very friendly and was seated a bit before reservation which was greatly appreciated.
We asked our waitor just to bring us food, other than we ordered a few things like live uni etc. It was almost like omakase at our table. Everyone loved it!
In few words, the best sushi restaurant in Houston so far
Chef's choice nigiri sampler was absolutely amazing!
This is the best sushi spot in Houston. Great service and really good sushimi. I almost want to say it sucks because it’s hard to get reservations but I just can’t do it. Lol
Amazing service with amazing food ! Everything was perfect
LOVE MF Sushi! Always a treat with amazing attention to detail and delicious sushi. The presentation is beautiful. Service is attentive but, more importantly, unobtrusive. We always sit at the sushi bar for the entertainment value. Watching the chefs as they meticulously prepare each piece in fro t of you, sometimes using metal chopsticks that are so delicate they seem to be pins.
A special treat for my wife this time was fresh, live Uni, sea urchin in it’s beautiful spiny shell (about the size of a baseball). She liked it so much she had two orders, which is one reason our check usually approaches or excess $200, including a couple drinks each. I gave MF a Good rating for value since it is a hefty tariff, primarily because we have no self restraint. A very worthwhile investment though.
Great food, drinks & service. Yellowtail collar was especially good and loved the uni.
First time at MF Sushi and had an amazing experience. I was there with two other colleagues and had the Omakazi (chef’s choice, 20+ selections prepared live in front of you). Amazing and fresh selection with no attention to detail spared. The chef/owner and team were fantastic, presentation and explanations were spot on and the specialty cocktails plus sake were perfectly paired.
Great food and service!
Love love love! What a great place for celebrations. We got the chef’s choice and it was honestly well worth the money. The food was heavenly and the service was even better! Counting down the days I get to come back :)
MF Sushi was a great choice for our anniversary dinner. It is a great experience with a wide variety of flavors and textures. Our waiter was fabulous and able to give great advice and assured we had a great experience.
Food was exceptional as was the service. Our waiter was very helpful in his reccomendations.
The highlight of the meal was the Otoro... it was, hands down, the very best Otoro I’ve had in Houston and beyond.
My foodie friend and I ordered many items, including a specialty Santa Barbara Sea Urchin. The food was good, but, other than the aforementioned Otoro, nothing stood out as spectacular. Between the two of us, our total, including the 20% tip we left was well over $300.
Although our server was very friendly, the overall “poor” review is due to someone - maybe the manager - coming over and telling us that others were waiting to be seated, so could we please hurry.... I kid you not. I was appalled. Hence, I’ll never go back, and I will tell anyone who asks that MF knows nothing about maintaining a gracious dining experience.
Amazing food and atmosphere! Had the new wagyu beef skewers and they were amazing!!!!
Very good quality food 🥘
incredible chef's menu at the table. want to try the omikase next.
MF Sushi is our favorite place in town, and Adrian puts the icing on the cake with truly magnificent service, every time! Thanks so much, Adrian, and the entire team at MF. We love y’all!
The food was excellent, everything else was not. I’m not sure if it was just an off night, but the feel of the place was drab and depressing. From the hostess to the waitstaff, no one seemed happy to be there and made no effort to conceal that fact. It’s so weird and hard to explain, but everyone seemed miserable, to the point where my husband and I felt out of place with our laughing and having fun. My husband and I talked about whether we would go back to MF Sushi after this experience, and we both agreed we would rather not. The food was great, but there are so many great restaurants in Houston with both excellent food and a good atmosphere. We were celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary and wish we would have gone somewhere with a more pleasant vibe.
We loved it!
Best sushi in town with a great waitstaff. Trina is great.
Food was delicious, service was SO quick - loved our first experience here!
Delicious, as usual!
Great food, ambiance, place
I would rate this restaurant on par with some of the best Sushi restaurants in New York City.
Hero san,the sushi chef is a master at making and presenting his preparation (Omakase).
The waiters are friendly and efficient and take the trouble to explain everything.
A Sashimi dinner for 2 with a couple of beers could set you back for 250$ which I think is a bit pricey for the Houston market.
Outstanding! Excellent service! The best sushi I've had in Houston.
Had a great time
