Creative Mediterranean cuisine from various regions in Turkey
Wonderful warm hospitality and very delicious food!!
We had a wonderful dinner at Meyhouse. We ordered the tasting menu and everything was delicious. There was so much food. They kept bringing out more dishes, saying we just want you to taste this also. We have eaten here several times, but this was the first time with the tasting menu. We've always enjoyed our meals at Meyhouse - but this was truly outstanding and memorable.
Best Turkish food in US. Highly recommend it. Mezes are delicately prepared and using highest quality ingredients.
Fantastic food. You would not regret
Excellent Turkish food (to a newbie), served on a closed street in Sunnyvale reminiscent of a street in Europe. Would happily return.
Chef sampler was underwhelming in variety. flavor etc. Just three types of kabob meats thrown on a plate.
Over the years food has been great but service has been inconsistent. I chalk this up to being a young restaurant. This last time was perfect. We brought friends and this is now their favorite restaurant. I highly recommend Meyhouse. Love it!
Excellent food quality and exceptional service even in this current limited environment. Corai and his team are phenomenal. Thank you!
Really slow.service. The eggplant dish wasway over.roasted. The wait staff pretty much ignored us. The sea bass was good, the beef was good too. Terrible ambiance.
Great food, very authentic Turkish cuisine, friendly service. The warm fresh bread serviced before the ordered food was the best we've tried in a quite a while!
Meyhouse has opened where Taverna Bistro used to be. Decor is still the same, though at this time, all seating is outdoor only. Since Murphy Ave is closed to traffic, there is plenty of al fresco dining, creating a festive atmosphere.
They setup a table for us on the side, which was good as it was away from others. They had white tablecloths and napkins, that feels an upgrade over sidewalk dining. Service was very friendly, though at times a bit inattentive.
For drinks, we ordered a Cosmo and a Gin/Basil/Cucumber cocktail, both of which were very good.
We ordered a few mezes: Girit Meze cheese with pistachio and Muhammara walnut-pepper paste with pomegranate molasses were excellent to eat with the warm bread they served. On request, they also brought us thin lavash bread (almost like a tortilla). Artichoke and Fava (Zeytinyagli Ic Baklali Enginar) was also very unique and flavorful. Finally, the shrimp baked with mozzarella was unusual but also enjoyable.
By this time, we were quite full, so we just ordered some chicken kebab (Harbiye tavuk) which was very juicy. Portion was a bit small, but it was just right for us. We topped this off with Kunefe dessert and Turkish Coffee.
A good meal, friendly service, festive outdoor dining. We will certainly be back!
The best Turkish restaurant in the SF Bay Area so far.
Broad selection, tasty execution, and friendly service. We would not have known that this family-owned gem even existed if it weren't for an expiring OpenTable Dining Reward.
The dine-in menu is much longer than on the website, which somewhat misleadingly only shows the pickup/delivery options. There is a broad selection of appetizers that can be sampled using a 4-for-2 or (I believe) 6-for-4 formula with smaller portions--don't be afraid to ask for recommendations, ours turned out fabulous. The doner & yogurtlu kebabs we had as main courses were awesome, with the meat chunks of the yogurtlu literally melting in the mouth. Seasoning was well balanced, flavorful but not overpowering, slightly garlicky, like other middle-eastern dishes & cuisines. We rounded out the meal with a bottle of very nice Turkish wine, recommended by the owner. We finished off with ice cream & tea, served traditionally in tiny glasses filled almost to the brim.
On Saturday evening the entire block of Murphy Ave. was blocked off with tables from all the restaurant spread sparsely to comply with pandemic regulations. Look for the large sign TAVERNA Bistro up on the wall (probably remnant of previous business at this location).
Excellant restaurant in Sunnyvale! I have had the pleasure of dining at Meyhouse a couple of times and have been really amazed at the wonderful dishes they offer. I can't wait to try every dish!
Amazing!!! Food, staff, ambiance...
Servers not too attentive but they were friendly, though.
An absolutely fantastic night out with my team from work. Everyone raved about the food (we had Little Little in the Middle shared plates), and just as importantly the wonderful service and how they were all made to feel so at home! Could not have been better!
The restaurant opens at 6:00pm so we wondered a bit down Murphy Street. When we arrived back at the hotel there were a few tables filled. We had a window seat which was lovely. The server came right away with water, hot bread and olive oil dip. We ordered the octopus, prawns, Girit Meze and the Musakka. All was wonderful!
I really wanted to like this place, as we love Turkish food. But the horrendous service and lack of basic restaurant etiquette is forcing me to not recommend this place.
We went for Valentine’s Day dinner, which was a fixed menu.
Food - except for the lamb and the kunefe, everything else was just average. However the fish that my wife ordered was absolutely inedible - it looked (and tasted) like a crime scene (see the pic).
Service - where do I begin. Besides being slow as hell, they made so many mistakes:
- 1 of our 3 main dishes came 15min later, so my wife had to just wait. I asked twice and then they would disappear in the back and not return;
- they forgot to bring what we ordered and we had to remind them several times, like my wine, or my wife’s dessert. Her Turkish tea never made it and we just didn’t bother to ask them, as we were a bit fed up.
- and the worst of all, the lamb dish was supposed to come with risotto, but we saw rice instead - so I asked the first person and he said “because we asked for rice - which was an absolute lie, because, like I said it was a fixed menu and I was actually looking forward to the risotto. Then I asked the front of the house lady as to why we didn’t get the risotto and to my shock, she said “I don’t know”. Then finally I got a chance to ask the owner and he said “risotto is over”, but yet no one bothered to let us know when we ordered and they decided to charge us the same amount per person.
Lastly, when we got the check, they added the fixed menu price ($95 each) AND they charged us for one of the starters, the 2 lambs and a soft drink. All of that was part of the fixed menu. Luckily I caught those mistakes, but come on....needless to say, I was ready to get out and never return....
Made the reservation over a week in advance for Valentine's Day. I received an email from open table to confirm that I'm going, and 7 hours before I received a call from the restaurant just confirming that I am going. The guy on the phone said that they were fully booked and they wanted to make sure I was coming. We get to the restaurant and the host says to come back at 8:10 and our reservation was at 8. We come back at that time and then people come in after us and have reservations as well. We get seated and for more than 20 minutes no one comes up to us to see if we're ready to order. The people that came after us got a seat next to us and after about 30 minutes the host comes and skips over us, asking if the other people were ready to order. I am very disappointed with this service because I really wanted to enjoy tonight and I was really rooting for this restaurant. I am so disappointed. The host kept going up to people who came in and helped them out instead of checking in with people they seated earlier. They were more interested in seating the people, not actually serving them. We got up and left
Been here many times.
The food overall is really great, probably one of the best places to eat in the area these days. The favors are very real and feel very authentic to real Turkish food and does not fall into generic zone restaurant as many do. The service is great.
However for is great dinner, for lunch the place is not near the same level than dinner time. I am reviewing this place as a dinner restaurant however wanted to note that there is a big difference between lunch and dinner quality.
They have good wines but limited to a few good ones, does not have a wide wine collection.
The food was delivious. They didn't have the Turkish wine we wanted, but recommended an Armenian wine instead, and it was very good. We were here for a business dinner, and everyone loved their food. It was a little noisy to have a business conversation, but we enjoyed the restaurant overall.
Very nice experience. Great food and music. Really professional service. All perfect.
We love the food. Food is very authentic. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Place can be a little loud but still worth going there.
Very nice lunch; authentic Turkish cuisine
We loved this restaurant, the octopus is a must for everyone. The only thing that was a down was the noise level, by the end of the evening I could hardly hear my hubby from the other side of the table, the music was way too laud (radio not live)
This is the best Turkish restaurant I’ve been to outside of Turkey. It’s superb.
Nice change of venue for us. Told the hostess that it was our 1st time and she explained everything. We ended up getting the meat sampler and was pleasantly impressed with all of the dishes. It took a little longer to get the main meat plate but it was worth waiting for.
Not knowing how much food was coming cautioned us not to fill up on the eggplant, walnut, dolma and other dishes that came first. Unfortunately we had to get to-go boxes.
Definitely recommend this place if you haven't had Turkish food
Superb food, excellent service. Definitely the best Turkish restaurant in the bay area.
First time at Meyhouse. Very welcoming. Helped to explain the various dishes. The dishes we chose were very tasty. Served in a manner that we could enjoy each dish. Timed so we arrived at our concert timely. Excellent evening.
Amazing food and very friendly staff. My new favorite restaurant.
My favorite restaurant.
Amazing food, friendly staff. This is one of our favori restaurants. A definite must if you want to experience very high quality Turkish food. The owner cooks most of the menu items and ensures everything is too quality.
Wonderful restaurant, impressive ambiance, quality food and friendly staff. My favorite restaurant in the bay area.
Had been to the restaurant before and was really impressed. This time, the kitchen forgot one of our main courses. It would have been served by the end of the meal. The owner insisted we take it home with no charge. He also gave us a dessert on the house. All in all, it was fine.
The food was amazing, they have unique Turkish foods which is hard to find in NorthCal.
We got what we paid exactly not overpriced at all. The one thing I wasn`t happy with was service. It could be better. Thank you for bringing all unique Turkish foods us
This is a great Resturanmts for those who like the Turkish Cuisine. Everything is fresh made. Very nice service.
Delicious food and hospitable employees. We loved the complimentary bread and the chicken.
