We are fortunately to travel to Corolla a few times a year and we always look forward to our meals at Metropolis. The food is fabulous - perfect size portions to allow multiple samplings! Mark and everyone at Metropolis are so friendly and enthusiastic about what they do! One of the nicest things is that they always remember us when we visit.

Metropolis is an absolute spectacular tapas restaurant. Mark the chef and co-owner and Matt the mixologist and co-owner extraordinary. Food is off-the-charts and the drinks are spectacular. I highly recommend Metropolis.

Tapas are small plates but there are plenty of options. Also plenty of alcohol options. If you are vegetarian or vegan, you will need to request this menu separately. They may not offer or make you aware of it up front.

Food was overly salty. Obscures the true flavors. Small Tapas were interesting and presented well. Heavier Tapas were overly priced considering the meals were not complicated to produce and the amount of food on the plate was skimpy. And I say this as someone who eats tapas frequently. I still think the chef and restaurant have a very inventive menu and would still recommend the restaurant.

The food at Metropolis has always been inspired and creative. The new menu this summer is outstanding. The jambalaya broth was just as good, if not better, than a bouillabaisse dish I had on the French Riviera a few years ago. Fantastique Mark. The plates are small, it is a tapas restaurant, and two dishes per person is just the right amount of food. Will continue to go back every year.

Each of the five tapas plates we ordered was absolutely delicious. Yes, the portions are small but for the quality of the ingredients and preparation, if you’re a foodie, it’s worth it. The Corollla chowder had just an incredibly rich and delicious broth. The sourdough bread crust was nicely crunchy and fantastic w honey and truffle butter. The foie gras was off the charts. Finished w the Parisian chocolate flight (get the incredible Domaine de Canton which pairs so perfectly!). Loved every bite.

Outstanding flavor profiles. Nice presentation. Great cocktails. Higher food quality than anything else in Corolla. More creative than Sanderling. The chowder was next level. The small plates are plenty and who needs left overs on vacation?

Every visit is super . Mark and Matt know their craft and it shows in every meal and every cocktail. Delicious looking and tasting small plates, some of which aren’t that small. Try the asparagus soup.

Best restaurant in the Duck/Corolla area! Tried them all this vacation, and Metropolis by far has the best food and is reasonably priced (not like a lot of the other restaurants in this area). We ended up going back to Metropolis because we loved it so much. If you are a foodie, you will love this place!

Had great experience this week at Metropolis. We chose to sit at the bar, which is something my wife and I often do, which turned out great as one of the owners was tending bar and was our server. He did an absolutely amazing job describing, in great detail, the dishes we were interested in. The pre-dinner cocktails were innovative and highlighted the beginning of the peach season. My wife had a foie gras crostini and asparagus soup that was poured over fresh crabmeat. I had one of the best tartare's of tuna I have ever had, followed by a wonderful presentation of seared scallops on a light bed of hummus. Be clear, there offering are tapas, but exactly what we were looking for and totally satisfying. Also should mention that the wine list if very innovative and reasonably priced. To have both owners on site, one of which is the executive chef definitely makes a difference. This is a don't miss in the northern Outer Banks.

The shrimp dip and angel hair with lobster was delicious . Cocktail menu is extensive. We have dined here several times and always a good meal. I so miss the Thai dish with coconut milk dish though.

Absolutely excellent food. Asparagus crab soup was delicious. The arugula salad was as fresh as it probably was picked that morning. A really nice setting but can get a bit noisy when large groups come in.

Waiter didn’t come back to the table after initial order, not even to check on our food, and for a tapas restaurant I would have liked to order more. Drinks were outstanding but had to struggle to get a second round. Was never given the option for a third. This restaurant has the ability to become something incredible with a little front end management.

We’ve been many times and this was not a good experience . The prices have gone up and the portions down. The drinks are ridiculously expensive . Four people Over $200 and that was each having a small and large plate and one cocktail each. We don’t mind paying good money but we all went away hungry. I don’t usually give reviews but the icing on the cake was when the waiter came out with an old broom with a rag wrapped around the top to wipe away the condensation on the air conditioner right above someone’s head. The broom was disgusting and right above the table.. very over priced and beyond many people’s budget

We have been coming here every year since it opened. The food was good but we walked in and was ignored by the waitress who was using her phone. We sat at a tiny table ( not great for tapas), under a mini split that dripped on me. Very loud too. Hopefully a one off.

We try to go to Metropolis every time we are in Corolla. The cocktails are fantastic (they make a great dirty martini) and the food is always incredible. Try the cream of asparagus soup if you get a chance.

Very delicious and unique tapas bar with delicious selection of drinks. We tried 5 small plates and 5 larger plates as well as the soup and everything was very flavorful and delicious. The owner and chef takes his time to explain the dishes in detail. We will definitely be dining here again.
