Meski will marry Ethiopian and Afro-Latin flavors in dishes like a T-bone steak in a berbere-coffee rub, above, served with chile-glazed plantains and pigeon peas.

Meski, named after Fassil's late mother, will serve dishes like sancocho, a Dominican meat stew, infused here with Ethiopian spices. Sambusas will made from yuca, the fried pockets filled with berbere-spiced beef or lentils. As they've developed the menu, German said he's been delighted to notice parallels between his native Dominican cuisine and Ethiopian food. His mother's steak encebollado stew, for example, reminds him of Ethiopian beef tibs.

Please note due to high demand and the intimate size of our restaurant, reservations for parties of five or fewer are allotted a 90-minute dining experience. 120 minutes are allotted for parties of six.

The menu is original with Ethiopian and Caribbean influences. I had a vegetarian entree that is very similar to ones I have tried in traditional Ethiopian restaurants, and it was delicious. I was worried that it would be too loud as it seems like that kind of place, but it was fine. There was a live sax player milling about the upper level space, and the volume was just right. The service was friendly and helpful. This is a nice addition to the neighborhood.

The food at Meski is delicious and the atmosphere was hip, very cool, and fun. The only thing I’d point out as a place where Meski could improve was service. When we sat down the server welcomed us to our “90 minute dining experience”. Our group took that as being on the clock for our dinner. We’re were done with everything in 100 to 105 minutes so the server wasn’t too far off but I don’t know that we needed to be told that at the onset of dinner. The server also asked if we wanted to add a skewer for our appetizer as it only came with 3 skewers so we said sure spice we were a table of 4, then when the dish was served it came with 5 skewers. It wasn’t the most egregious error but it was comical more than anything. With all this said, I found Meski to be a great dining experience. Like I said the food was excellent, the drinks were tasty, and the atmosphere was lovely and fun. I’d recommend going for sure.

Stunning restaurant. Upon arriving our table was not ready, but the host escorted us to the downstairs lounge to wait. Decor is beautiful, you can really tell every detail was thought of. Every dish was exceptional- the only one that may have fallen short was the collard greens, according to my partner it had a sweeter taste than he is accustomed to. Regardless of this, our entire family enjoyed the experience and every bite. Perhaps my favorite oysters I have had, and the donuts are to die for! Sometimes when am eatery is backed by a celebrity the quality of the food or the service lacks. Meski is a shining example that a great team of people with different expertise can put together a phenomenal experience for its guests. Thank you!

We loved this restaurant. I am familiar with both Caribbean and Ethiopian food and really enjoyed the fusion of the two. The salmon appetizer with grapefruit was unique and amazing. I'm older so I notice music and noise more, but that is to be expected anywhere. It is definitely pricey but worth it for a fun outing. We shared dishes which worked really well.

Loved the saxophone player added a really nice touch and was unexpected. Drinks were really good. Loved the decor. Would love to come back and try dinner only tried brunch. Great vibes overall
