Great food with their own spin on every dish. They seem to try hard to make the food interesting as well as tasty. A great place if a Vegan is coming along!
My family and I are very impressed with Mesa Mercado fitting in to the Carmichael community as as fun, family friendly restaurant serving authentic Mexican reginal unique savory food and meals.
Excellent food with great Vegan options. Food was fresh and prepared with obvious attention to detail.
Went on Cinco d Mayo. Crowded and first table we sat at was next to kitchen and cold vent blowing air right down on us. Had to move to bar. Service very slow. I had cheese enchiladas. Probably the worst cheese enchilada I had. Red sauce was not good. Music was good but they started playing too late in evening to where most people started leaving. Then after about four songs they took half hour break. Should have kept playing. I just felt disappointed. Could have been much better. Also when I made my reservations I used open table they never even looked on computer to check me in so it showed as no show. Not ok
Not as great as their other restaurants. The portions are perfect, but not if you enjoy leftovers the next day. The food wasn't hot. We never got the chips we ordered. However, the food was good.
We’ve been to this establishment many time before without issue which is why we decided to celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday at this location.
They must have been terribly understaffed on this day because the food took forever to come out and the poor server was running around the establishment trying to do the best he could. However, service was slow overall.
Hopefully this was a one time experience because we really enjoy this authentic Mexican restaurant.
We had 8 pm reservations for four on a Saturday night. We waited at least 5 minutes to be greeted and sat. Took waiter another 5 minutes to come to our table. We ordered guacamole as an appetizer but hated having to mix it ourselves. And who puts bell pepper in their guacamole? No one was overly impressed with entrees. Rice was undercooked. Tacos needed more sauce. We did enjoy the mango starter. The margarita was good. Also appreciate the vegan menu and authentic recipes. Just need to step up service and flavors.
I love that they have a vegan menu! I got the enchiladas and everything on the plate had a flavor on its own so every bite was a delicious medley in my mouth. The mango margarita was also very yummy with its smoky hints. We went on Valentine's Day so it was a bit busy. Good thing we didn't need the servers very often because they got things right and we didn't need to hunt them down for anything else we needed. Seems like they have musicians on certain nights. It added more to the overall ambiance. It's a casual place, but still has an air of something special.
we got seated right away with our reservations, server was very nice and helpful with suggestions. Food came out fast and was really good too. Margaritas were really good.
Food and drinks were good, service was horrible. Set your expectations low and hope for the best.
The restaurant was almost empty when we go there for mid-week lunch. We were treated to a delicious potato soup on the house to start. Main dish and dessert were all very tasty. It was a cold rainy day, so we ordered hot tea. Our friendly waiter brought us hot water for the tea 3 times as we enjoyed our stay and conversation for over 2 hours.
Loved the vegan menu although the desert wasn’t as tasty as we’d hoped. Cauliflower tacos were fabulous!
I never trust a Mexican food restaurant that charges you for chips and salsa. Come on. I had the street tacos which where fine nothing special. The Pablano Soup was amazing. Drink prices were high- even for just a well vodka soda but maybe that’s just Sacramento prices now. Ambiance is flat ‘more like a Mexican cafeteria. The service was good- but wouldn’t go back.
Great food and great service! They even gave us a free dessert! Great place!
Great! Awesome waiter too! Very fresh and clean!
Overall everything was excellent, food was great. Just gave 4 stars for food because they were out of guacamole and Mexican food just isn’t the same without chips and guacamole!
Excellent food! Love the ceviche, carnitas and the mangos that are brought out for the table to share.
The Corn Eaquité appetizer is a must-have starter, together with the Mexican style coffee, and soon followed by the Codfish Tacos and Ceviche Pescado made for a great Sunday Brunch.
We enjoyed our meal, but it was VERY DIFFICULT to speak with one another.
Although the musician was OUTSTANDING, it was also EXTREMELY LOUD
The service was acceptable, and the prices were reasonable. I will definitely
try it again. This was my first experience with your restaurant.
Masa Mercado has good food but, a small menu. Cool open environment.
Great food and margaritas. Very attentive server.
Carnitas and Margaritas were delicious. The rest of the meal was middling. Prices are on the high side, with so many other restaurants doing the same cuisine better and for less.
Excellent vegetarian and vegan options including complete separate vegan menu. Creative and tasty vegan tamales and tacos, even vegan ceviche and mole on sauteed plantains. My daughter (non-vegan) loved the chicken tacos in a mole, green and red sauce. We plan to go again soon.
Music at dinner was almost too loud for casual conversation.
Great find. Food had nice presentation and great flavor. Server was very attentive. Will definitely be back.
Incredible food! So much flavor. Great vegetarian options!
Outstanding service. Interesting and appealing menu options. Super fresh ingredients. Delicious dishes. The skirt steak tacos and chicken mini tostadas were amazing!
We had a group of seven people that included some children. The menu was interesting and everyone found something they thought would be great. After ordering our drinks and a couple of appetizers we completed our order for lunch. Service seemed slow and after our drinks arrived we waited for our appetizers. We enjoyed both appetizers, (the guacamole and the pepper and cheese dip) as to flavor and our ability to control the heat.
When our main course started to arrive two plates were served first and the last three plates did not arrive until most of the first two plates had been eaten.
We enjoyed the spicy soup and would enjoy having it again! The al pastor tacos where too sweet. The fish plate was just ok but again we thought it was bland.
The kids that ordered the steak enjoyed there meal very much.
If you enjoy a little bland Mexican food this is a great place. Just relax and wait things will happen.
I can’t recall the name of our server- sorry. However, I was very impressed with her. She was very attentive to our family. I really appreciate her thoughtfulness to my mother when her salad was too spicy. She corrected it for her & made it right. We will come back soon. We also enjoyed the man singing & playing the guitar. Thanks for a nice Sunday evening.
Great coffee, Agua Fresca Jamaica, and a tasty Corn Esquite to start, the Dulce de leche Toast and the Chile Relleno de Queso were well presented and delicious. Thanks Server David 4505!
Good experience, reasonable value
For appetizers we ordered the Guacamole...OMG! Extra delicious.
We ordered as entree tacos...and we mixed three of the options they offered... my favorite was the steak but the fish and asada were delicious as well.
I had a Mango Margaritas...very good too.
So overall, I will definitely recommend this place and will go many many taco Tuesdays to come.
I took my entire family (and their plus ones) out for father's day lunch after church. I found the restaurant on Open Table and took a chance on something new - we were not disappointed. Our table was waiting with ample arm room for all eleven people. The live music was wonderful!! The guitarist even played quietly when he saw that our family was saying grace. My children kept commenting how their drink seemed to 'magically' refill themselves. And the food was perfect! Not only was it yummy, but the portion sizes were not overdone (as is so common nowadays).
I cannot brag enough about this restaurant, and I can't wait to come back with just the hubby. :)
love the open area.
a little cool temp wise for some of my family, perfect for me
The food is spectacular. It’s abundant and different from the usual fare. I had fish tacos on blue corn tortillas with a very tasty relish. Obviously ii had been frozen, but that did not detract from the taste nor the texture. Two in our group complained that the service was slow, but the rest of our party of seven thought otherwise. This is a fun place. We will return sans the “uptight,” unless they promise to go with the flow.
Food was good not super.
Had live music and the singer was so loud we couldn’t even chat at our table and we were far away from her.
Drinks were good but took forever to make.
Service was great!
It has become one of my best favorites...
We made a reservation for 7:00 and arrived on time but they were not ready for us and we had to wait while several tables were bussed. We sat outside which was pleasant but there only seemed to be one waiter working there and we had to wait at least 15 minutes for our order to be taken then another 20 for our food to arrive while a couple sitting near who had arrived after us received their food first. We had the mango salad which was okay but obviously used bagged greens, and my husband had a type of stew with chunks of meat and over cooked vegetables. I had the vegetarian quesadillas which were ok but nothing special. The sauce was probably the best part of the dish, it had good flavor. We do not plan to return.
I read a review of this restaurant in a local magazine and wanted to give it a try. We were sadly disappointed. The restaurant is located in some kind of a restaurant strip mall, with all the restaurants being open to one another. That was kinda cool and funky, it is a great casual environment. My husband and I were on a date (which doesn’t happen very often), so we would’ve preferred a less open setting. It was, however, fairly quiet considering how open it was. The service was outstanding. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, and didn’t seemed bothered at all that we wanted to take our time. The food came out quickly, both appetizers and main course, and our table was cleared from empty dishes along the way. The food was mediocre. Salsa must be ordered, it comes in a trio, none of which were great. The guacamole comes with the ingredients in a bowl together (except the jalapeño) which you mix yourself. Their concept is that you can make it to your liking, but that’s a fail because the only variation is the amount of jalapeños. I’d rather order mild, medium or hot and not tear up my own cilantro, thank you. We ordered fish tacos for our main course which were just ok. In all honesty, the carne asada tacos at the taco truck down the street from my house are waaaay better and waaaay cheaper. I don’t mind spending a little money on dinner if it’s worth it. Sad to say, Mesa Mercado isn’t.
The service was good. The food was good but not outstanding.
